History

Established in 2003.

While ‘Mudjacking’, another term for Concrete Leveling, has been around since the 1920s, it was not until the 1950s and 1960s that Concrete Leveling became available to service residential interests. The system was slow to adapt to popular use due to the lack of available and reliable equipment. In Ohio in 1982, Grover Miller invented and patented the A-​1 pumping system. This system was vastly superior to anything on the market. The same is still true today! This was the birth of A-​1 Concrete, America’s largest concrete leveler! During the 1980s and early 1990s the A-​1 pumping system was enhanced and refined to what it is today. In 1992 A-​1 was made available to a much broader customer base through franchising to qualified individuals in limited markets. A-​1 is currently America’s largest and most reliable concrete leveler! A-​1 Concrete Leveling and Foundation Repair (Chicagoland) was established in the year 2000 and has been meeting client needs ever since!

Business Owner

Albert «Bud» Stuart is husband and father of 3 boys as well as a retired airline captain of 35 years. Toward the end of his aviation carrier, he flew professional sports teams including the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Oakland A’s to name a few. Bud became an A-​1 franchise in the year 2000.

While deriving great satisfaction from delivering quality customer service and excellent finished products, Bud decided to enlist the assistance of his son Joseph Stuart. Joseph had a background in the IT industry, and was known to excel at delivering timely customer driven results and quality work. Due to his natural talents in the concrete leveling industry, Joe soon became a work site supervisor and project manager.

In early 2012, Bud decided that the time for retirement was near and began to transition ownership and operational responsibility to his son Joseph. This step was a natural and welcome progression.
