Hello! My name is Scott Moorehouse, I am the Owner of Big Bear Heating & Air. When I first established Big Bear Heating & Air, my goal was to form a company that would provide a client experience that would far exceed the industry standards. Having 15 years of prior experience with 2 other local company’s, I was able to experience first hand what the customers needs were and how to meet or exceed there expectations. Thankfully today, I’ve been able to use that experience to formulate a company that combines the finest in customer service along with the latest in HVAC technology to create the best home improvement experience. These guys are the BEST! Honest, knowledgeable, professional. We called the company who installed the HVAC in our new home (2 ½ years old) for service. That guy came out and Ching-​ching! Claimed we needed over $ 2,000 in repairs. We thought something seemed fishy so we called Big Bear HVAC for a second opinion. They came out, and as we suspected, the other company was lying.

Big Bear serviced our heating unit a couple of years ago and did an outstanding job. Last week, they installed a new air conditioning unit (a big one, too!). Each time we’ve dealt with them, we’ve been absolutely impressed and pleased with their communication, pricing, response time, cleanliness and helpfulness. Scott, Rick and Levi will be the ONLY HVAC people we call in the future! Oh, yeah. Did I mention that they’re so friendly and helpful that they helped my neighbor find her water main and my other neighbor move a mattress? Just good people and good tradesmen!

The crew just completed our install, and they were very clean/​courteous/​attention to detail oriented. As a contractor, I pay very close attention to the demeanor of employees, and how they treat property of customer. The Big Bear heating and air team, Scott, Rick & his guys, are top rated because they provide quality products, explain EXACTLY what they are providing & recommend for the best performance of your system. I had them install a complete system, with a UV air purifier, multi stage fans and heating. They added additional ducting, for better air flow to problem areas in my home, that wasn’t considered to be needed in 1982 (when my home was built)
No detail was missed, and I didn’t have to supervise them, like most contractors.
The final reason for considering Big Bear H&A is they submitted & pulled a permit for work done, and have a certified efficiency flow test scheduled for next week. All of the other HVAC bidders didn’t want to permit the job???
All in all very reasonable in pricing, as you pay for what you get, and just GOOD PEOPLE.
P. S.- I recommend them to one of my clients for a Remove/​Replace of exterior A/​C unit so we could dig their pool, and they were on time and charged less than i estimated to the customer. That makes us look good too!

Called Big Bear for an emergency repair on a package HVAC unit. He got us on the schedule the same day and took a look at the unit. He diagnosed the problem as a hole in the coil, a small puncture in a copper line. 1st he told me the unit was old (built and installed in 2007) and he would have a hard time finding the parts probably best to just install a new HVAC unit $ 4000. I said no I wanted it repaired, he says the coil and surrounding media may take 4 – 6 weeks to get and will be $ 1200 – 1400 from the factory, he will call the next day with an estimate and timeline. The next day he calls and says 4 weeks to get the coil from the factory, but good news he can solder the puncture and get it done in a couple of hours. Why was the solder option not presented to begin with?
In the meantime we had another technician take a look and his 1st recommendation was to solder the puncture, said it would be a waste of money to approach the repair any other way. No run around or upsell.
The only reason I have given Big Bear 3 stars is the quick response and follow up. They probably deserve a lower rating based on what I feel was a questionable approach to the repair recommendations.

Great Customer Service and they do not mind driving to give you an estimate. Even though they are located in Ripon they drove to Placerville to give me an estimate.
They pointed out something that when they constructed the house that were incorrect. Once I saw it I knew they were right. I waited to see if they other companies would notice the errors. They did not even when I mentioned it. After collecting other bids they still gave me the best bid. They are honest and truthful .
Which is a rare thing to find now days. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone .

Big Bear installed our rooftop HVAC unit on our house this past February. We found them using Unilocal and another site. Even though they were all the way in Ripon they still came out to West Sacramento to give us a quote the same day I called. I felt comfortable with Rick. He was very professional, fair, and didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. Another thing that I appreciated about Rick and Big Bear is that they gave my wife and I time to think about what we wanted to do and what unit we felt was right for us without trying to pressure us to make a decision that day. That made a big difference.
The day of installation it was storming out. Rick new we had a newborn at home and had already gone several days without heat so to his insistence, they got up on our roof and installed. They were soaking wet and never complained. They were happy to take care of our family. For this I am very great full. Their service went above and beyond. Now two months later, we are still very satisfied customers!

They were wonderful! Came out the same day to evaluate our situation and when they had to order parts kept us in the loop every step of the way! When parts and labor exceeded the estimate, they stood by their estimate. Even came on a SATURDAY to finish repairs! Will definitely use again if needed and recommend to others

If you are looking for an honest HVAC Company, don’t need to look any further. I was using another HVAC Company out of Manteca for the past four years for the basic servicing. When winter hit, the heat part of our system was not blowing hot air. We got a quote and within two weeks while im trying to save my money for the repairs the cost went up three times. So i got on Unilocal read their reviews and someone on their Unilocal stated if a repair costs more than $ 200 to get a 2nd opinion… sooo I called & spoke with Rick and he was willing to come and check out the hvac unit for us as a 2nd opinion for free. Within seconds the heat was on. Rick advised us if it goes out again to contact him. Rick even followed up with a courtesy call and everything was fine. The following morning the house was cold and the heat would not push out and i txt Rick and he wanted to come by now that it’s not working properly and advised us what the problem was and what they charged. Lets just say if I had gone with the other Company I would have paid over $ 500 for something that was not broken and then had to come up with more money for what was really broken. We of course didn’t have the money for repairs and Big Bear was willing to allow us to make payments. I am so glad we found you Rick and we are dedicated to your services. You are what we call REAL people. After he got us up and running he was off to fix another persons home that was messed up by the same hvac i didnt use… omg! THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER RICK!!!

Jason is awesome. Honest, obviously a master at what he does, very informative and provides quick service. We are in the middle of a major heat wave and he got out here the very next day. He could have easily told me that we need this, that and the other thing, but instead he told me all the ways my husband could «do it yourself». All we needed was a new thermostat ($ 30), new filters ($ 6) and to clean the condenser coils with a hose. Our system is working FANTASTIC just one day later and a potential $ 500 job, cost us less than $ 40. Thanks again Jason! Definitely give this guy a call!

these guys are awesome they put a brand new heater/​furnace in for me and my boyfriend and fix our AC for us they are sooo nice and did a awesome job i felt bad because it take 2 days for them to do those 2 things and our seller of the house didnt care about the central heating and air in the house she just let it go and it was a mess and a biger project then what it was expected but they got all it done and iam sooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy thank you soooooooooo much for all your hard work i really truly appreciate it and all the offer you put in to it. there the guys i will be calling if i need any help with my AC or heater or have any problems or any projects that have to do with our central heat and air i will be calling them no one else
