Cheese pizza was ok… Everything else they had on display with toppings, looked like a day old cheese pizza they plopped toppings on… Disgusting

I’ve been eating this pizza for 20+ years and it is honestly the best in the neighborhood. I’ve tried all the Ridgewood pizza places and this one is truly #1. Their pizza recipe has been the same since I was a kid and the family who own’s the place is super friendly. They’ll treat you with the best intentions and make the slice exactly the way you want it.

So this is the authentic New York Slice I have been looking for all my life? Heard so much about you. Nice to finally meet you. Large, fresh, good and cheesy are the adjectives used to describe this piece of pie. I have eaten pizza all of my life and have tried NY Style pizzas from many cities. I thought papa johns was good pizza. LOL! Sorry, that was funny. This one slice had me wanting more and more. It was great! I added sausage to my slice. It was a sausage link thinly sliced. My only regret is that I only got one slice and never made it back before leaving town. The garlic knots are way too garlicy though. Relax with the shaker. I’m walking over here(use your ny accent). They are a popular option though. A cop came in and purchased a couple of bags. The Original Sal’s. Reminds me of Spike Lee’s «Doing the Right Thing» movie. Now that’s good pizza.

Grew up in the area, and used to come here all the time. If I am in the area and craving pizza, I will suggest Sal’s Pizza. Love the eggplant rolls. The upside down Sicilians are great. Food overall is great. Prices are pretty reasonable as well.

The place is minutes from my home and the smell alone was enough for me to walk in and try a slice. Their pizza is on point and I’m loving the old school seating they got in there. The whole place screams old school, down to the Italian owners and washed out colored walls, but I love it so. We usually order a whole pizza from here and it’s pretty good. Sauce is flavorful, bread isn’t too grainy or chewy and the prices are just right. I’ve tried the food(shrimp parm) and it wasn’t the greatest. Shrimp were on the small side and the flavor didn’t match up to other places. On the plus side they do deliver and it’s always quick!

Best pizza around here and there are a lot of other joints nearby. Both regular and sicilian.

Man. This pizza is the TRUTH! At first I thought my taste buds were fooling me due to my current state of starvation, but after devouring the cheese slice in record timing. I was sold!!! I can’t even begin to describe what makes this pizza so delicious. The cheese is perfect, the garlic, the tomato sauce… It’s everything!!! I’m just curious if this is really the«original» Sal’s or is that some misleading marketing scheme? Either way, I’m sold! I wish they delivered to my apartment!

I’m a regular here and I’m never disappointed its a very quiet and friendly environment. Even though I usually come here for pizza it tastes great. This is my second choice compared to joe and johns which down the block.

I came here with my boyfriend because we were in the area and the Unilocal reviews were mostly positive. The atmosphere is a simple, old school pizzeria, with yellow benches and wood tables. Reminded me of my childhood. We approached the display case and were quickly disappointed by the pizza. Aside from a fresh Sicilian pie, there were scattered pieces of specialty pizzas, all extremely dated and stale in appearance. There were no two slices alike, and it looked like the pizza had been refrigerated and put out for days, over and over again. There was a display case below the pizza that had chicken rolls, calzones, etc. Since the pizza looked so awful, we decided to split a calzone and a chicken roll. At that point, the woman behind the counter pulled the items from the display case and, instead of putting the items in the nice oven behind her, she nuked them! When the food was ready, we sat down to eat. The calzone was about half the size of what you’d expect to find in another restaurant. It was thin, had hardly any cheese inside, was bland, save for some salt, and was essentially a notch above a hot pocket. In addition, the crust was chewy and tough because of the microwave treatment. The chicken roll, to be fair, was a bit better, more average than anything. We left hungry and disappointed. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

Recently had a gyro of my own. It was loaded with so much toms, lettuce and sauce(which tasted kinda like mayo). This was easily a meal for two people. Jeebus. There are never a lot of people in here when I happen to be around, which can be kind of a bad omen? But the food here has been on point so far! No complaints… except for the mayo?

Upside down sicilian, by the pie!!! out of this world… every pizzaria has its slow times and busy times, if your the type that likes it hot out the oven order by the pie best pizza in queens. L & B spumoni gardens in brooklyn has nothing on sal’s upside down sicilian pie. its a must to order ask for extra sauce, welldone and to top it off do half peperoni. My girlfriend doesnt eat it but it adds extra flavor to the pie and I love it.

Delivery came quickly, and the pizza was hot. Aside from that, that was pretty much all it had going for it. The crust was unpleasantly charred black. There was too much cheese and the sauce was flavorless.

I came back following Joseph K’s taunting insistence. There’s still too much cheese on here for my tastes. It’s an edible, hot slice but I still like other spots more. The upside-down was better.

Don’t listen to some creepy, rapey-looking hipster that probably poo-poos on everything. I’ve been going to Original Sal’s for 20+ years now(minus 7 from moving out of NYC, then moving back). Lived across the street from it, and now live around the corner from it, and if I had to think of a good reason why, it’s Sal’s. Everything I’ve had from them is top-notch, from great standard pies, sicilians and upside-down sicilians to things like chicken rolls, mozzarella cheese steaks and chicken marsala slices. I’ve watched the kid grow up in there while his parents never seemed to age, and have enjoyed every experience. They don’t deliver for the most part(which is why someone probably reported that they were rude on the phone, because they probably asked them one too many times), but for good food like this, get off your butt and get it anyway. Rosa’s is good, but it’s good for specialty pies. Sal’s is all you need when you’re in Ridgewood.

I think my favorite spot in ridgewood for a plain slice. Not a major variety but they do have the basics for a pizzeria. Great sauce crisp crust tasty cheese what more could you ask for?

Every one in NYC has a favorite pizza place, Sal’s is mine. Awesome pizza, great sides(I’m a fan of the pepperoni and spinach wheels). It’s a small family run place, and they remember me even though I’m only in every couple of months because I moved out of state. There’s easily 5 pizza joints within two blocks of my mom’s house, and I’ll choose this one every time.
