Just ordered a shrimp pad see ew. Not worth the money… it literally only had 3 shrimps in the whole meal, never again am I going to waste money ordering pretty much just noodles. So dissatisfying. BTW Unilocal price says $ 7.95 but they actually cost $ 9.95

Listen, get the Panang Curry. This place is vegetarian friendly. The Tom Yum Soup is good. Tofu appetizers are quite nice. Spring rolls are interesting, not too much filling but the crunch makes it NOICE.

I’ve been here many times over the past few years, and not once have I had an experience I’d consider less than a 10. It’s always delicious and wonderful. I love all of their curries and it is by far my favorite Thai restaurant in the area :)

Just here for lunch today. Food was great, love the fact that it wasn’t greasy like some other thai places in the area. Thai iced tea was delicious as well. Was a little pricey, but it’s Ridgewood I guess. Also, no lunch specials on Saturday, which is a bummer. Would definitely return!

I have been here a few times. The food is excellent, but the spicy items are serious business. Be sure to let them know if you need them to dial back the spice. My favorite dishes to get here are the pad kee mao and pad grap prow, with beef as the protein. The service was good. My only issue was that some of us had to wait way longer for entrees than others.

Good food, tiny cramped space, disinterested service. Two stars for the food. It’s acceptable. Prices are ok. The service is cold and indifferent. Ok for a quick bite. But they will stuff you in and you’ll have zero elbow room.

We have dined here at least a dozen times but seems like the service has been degrading gradually. Last night my wife ordered a chicken stir dish and asked a bit spicy, what showed up was radioactive, beyond spicy. We requested a redo even I offered to take the one, we were faced with a few lectures on how to order Thai food next. Also the calamari in the pad see ew that I ordered was stale but did not want to go through the same experience one more time in the same evening. Clearly not going back there again.

Went in for lunch yesterday. The space is very small with an odd smell. Decoration is ok. I ordered a Pad See-Ew with beef from lunch special. Oddly it didn’t come with a soup. They probably cut the soup to make the lunch special price lower: $ 7.95 vs $ 9.99 from Gao Thai Kitchen. In Ramsey. The food and service are ok. Will probably come back again.

I went here last night because a friend from out of town wanted Thai food. I usually don’t frequent Thai restaurants because I am Thai, so I’m very picky about where I go. My first visit to this restaurant was already negative– I came on a busy night and the wait staff didn’t even acknowledge my existence at the door. So, I never came back until last night. This time, the restaurant was relatively empty so we were actually acknowledged and got a table. I agree with what the other reviewers were saying about the wait staff. They’re not the nicest. As well, they are loud and chatty with each other. It’s distracting to be eating in a restaurant where the wait staff are conversing louder than the patrons. It was especially distracting for me because I could understand everything they were saying. I just wanted to turn around and shush them. But, that would have been rude. As for the food, we ordered the fried whole snapper with garlic pepper and the red ocean fried rice. Both were pretty good, so I can’t complain too much about the food. It seemed fresh and the flavors were good. I was surprised, though, at the amount of corn starch used to thicken the sauce for the fish. I don’t think that was necessary. On a side note, I asked the server for fish sauce with sliced peppers(a traditional condiment for the fried rice) and he said, «No fish sauce.» I looked at him and said, «You don’t use fish sauce?»(In a Thai restaurant?!) Which he then clarified, «Fish sauce only for kitchen.» Okay. I get it… but I have to question the authenticity of a Thai restaurant that won’t serve traditional Thai condiments to its patrons when requested. I don’t think I’ll be back to this restaurant again, mostly because of the service. But, if you don’t care about that and just need a Thai food fix, then I think it’s worth a visit. As for me, I’ll stick to home cooked Thai food.

It has been years since I have visited with Ridge Thai and was so happy that we did. It is small yet quaint and very busy. We started with a classic, rice noodle that was such a nice flavor with basil, peppers, onions and broccoli with chicken as the selection of meat. Followed by green curry with Shrimp. We loved these little mushrooms that were so delicate and beautiful. We will definitely come back again!

Great place for lunch! Had takeout a few times and it’s always consistently good! Never ate-in but looks like a casual neighborhood-y place!

Thai-arreah Alert! Most restaurants in Ridgewood are closed on Mondays and we were hungry for Thai, and did not want to travel. Should have! This could be a homey and warm place to eat on a chilly monday if not for food borne illness. We ordered Gang Pak, Pad Thai(shrimp), Tom Yum Goong and Siam Rolls, all of which looked nice, tasted ok going down, but were not spectacular. Within 15 minutes after finishing our meal — alarm bells went off! Both of us tasted everything and we were both stricken and remained ill for the balance of the day. This is unforgivable. Let me put my negative review in some context and rant a little about why this meal was such a disappointing experience(aside from the obvious). IMHO, Thai food is often poorly executed in restaurants. The best examples of this cookery rely on screamingly fresh ingredients and quick, high heat preparation. In particular, when done right, northern Thai cuisine is exquisite and sophisticated, and nothing like what has been adapted for the American palate by many restaurants. I make seafood and vegetarian meals a lot at home and use Thai ingredients often. These ingredients are oriental market staples and almost always on hand at our home(e.g. red/yellow/green/massaman curry paste, coconut milk, purple basil, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, garlic, ginger, shrimp, mussels, phở noodles, tofu, etc.). Mostly we stir fry veggies and seafood quickly, infuse with authentic seasonings and add rehydrated phở or serve over rice. When we want a bit more flavor, I break out the fish sauce, desiccated baby shrimp, tamarind paste and galangal. Now and again I get ambitious and make my own Siu Mai, the authentic Thai way — which is really simple. This version is altogether different from Chinese dim sum or Korean dumplings(although they share ingredients). Sadly, Ridge Thai does not serve Siu Mai, because the staff says it is too expensive to make(??) A bit labor intensive, true, but dumplings of every kind are cheap to make and so dang hot these days, I find it hard to believe a small place like this wouldn’t highlight such an item to draw a crowd. Oh well. FWIW, if restaurant food makes us both ill on a first visit, we never give it a second chance.

Went here for lunch with a friend who is a regular, and I so enjoyed it! Thai food can be really heavy and I think they balanced both the spice and the portion sizes extremely well. We shared a pad gra pow(chicken) and a mussaman curry with beef. The meat itself was good quality and the gra pow had a nice kick to it. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced. The service was good — they didn’t rush us to take our order nor did they rush us out(we were the last lunch diners there). I definitely plan to return!

I eat here very often but only ever thru take out, so my rating won’t account for service. Though the woman who answers the phone was very rude to me once and condescending, I will consider it an isolated incident as its never happened again. I’ve eaten at many Thai restaurants on the east coast but this is hands down the best I’ve had. You must try the green curry here and the gra prow fried rice. Though in general NY has some of the best restaurants, their thai restaurants pale in comparison to this one. The food is truly excellent.

I finally decided to give this place a try and I’m glad I did. My friend and I were craving some Thai food and we decided to try this place out. We ordered a shrimp appetizer which was delicious, it had a nice crispy crunch to it, it’s very similar to shrimp tempura. I had a shrimp pad Thai dish and my friend had another dish which was flat noodles but I can’t recall the name. The pad Thai dish was delicious and the shrimps were 5 nice jumbo size pieces. The interior of the place is really nice and it’s a nice spot to take a date. The only small complaint is that they didn’t ask if we wanted any desert or coffee, they just dropped off the check without asking if we wanted anything else. But that wasn’t to big of a deal, they were at least on point with refilling my water so that redeems the service. But the next time I have craving for Thai food, I’ll be happy to try the other dishes on the menu.

June 2015 still 5 stars and even better. Everything so fresh and light. Upgrading to 5*. As before everything is so fresh and clean, not greasy or over seasoned. The curries here are my favorite, but pad Thai is a notch above many others. I also like the spring rolls — light, a bit tiny but they give you ample amount and very inexpensive. As for service — couldn’t be nicer. Place still clean and well maintained too.

If the service weren’t so rude here, I might be inclined to give 4 stars. But the servers were pushy about taking our order and quick to kick us out after we finished our entrees. We wanted dessert, but they didn’t even bother to ask. I also felt like they just threw our food at us rather than serving us nicely. I considered saying the treatment we received was a combination of culture and the fact that this place was packed and had tight seating. But I’ve been to a gazillion other Thai restaurants so it wasn’t a cultural thing. Also, our friends said they had been here at least 8 times and have gotten the same rude service each time. Yes, the place is tiny so I get that they want to keep turning tables, especially on a Saturday night, but there’s a polite way to do that and a mean way to do that. These people do it the mean way. Obviously, the food is good or else our friends wouldn’t keep going back. The broth in the Tom Yum soup was great, but the vegetables were a little too crunchy for my taste. The duck gra-pow was also delicious and probably in my top 10 duck dishes of all time, but not at all spicy, as advertised. I did have a taste of the coconut green curry broth. At least that had some heat to it. Delicious. The crispy banana fritters for dessert didn’t do it for me. It tasted like something you would get in a Mexican restaurant, not Thai. But at least they didn’t mess up the Thai iced tea.

My fiancé loves this place, and it’s the only Thai place in Bergen County I’m allowed to go to with her, so they get a loyal customer base out of us. With that said, Ridge Thai is a good place to eat, but there are areas it could make some improvements on. The food is great, but the service and ambiance are a little lacking. The interior is plane jane, and needs to be spruced up a bit. I feel like it was decorated 10 years ago and it’s was an after thought even back then. I’d suggest picking a slow week in winter and just taking three or four days to close and remodel the dinning room. Make it feel like you are eating in downtown Ridgewood. The service feels a little impersonal, and a bit rushed. I get this from a lot of Asian restaurants, so perhaps it’s a cultural thing, but if you are sitting down, I would like to feel catered to. I know that the owner brings all of her staff in from Queens, but maybe it’s time to look at a different option and hire a new server with some fine dinning experience to train some of the staff. The food here is generally very good, but this experience was not the best. I tried the Tom Yum Goong soup for the first time, and it had a weird smell that I compared to feet. It didn’t taste bad, but I couldn’t get over the smell and since smell is half you taste, it ruined it for me. We shared the Siam Roll, and this is like the interior, very plane jane. It’s tasty, but not popping tasty. It could also use a little dress up. Truth be told though, it’s very well priced for what you get in the area. For an entrée I had the Snapper done Pla Chu Chee… winner winner chicken dinner. The sauce is amazing, and I was in-love with it. The snapper was a little over fried for my taste and the meat was tough. I don’t think that’s how it’s suppose to be, so I will try it again on another visit to see if that’s how it comes out. My expectations were that the meat would be moist and a little flaky. This place won’t hurt your wallet either. It’s BYOB, and the prices are all relatively affordable. We walked out spending $ 55 with tip for two; not a bad deal.
