Q55 Bus

It’s your average NYC bus line. They are the new buses but it comes every half hour or so so they are always crowded no matter what time it is! But it’s the only bus line that will take you straight up and down Myrtle Avenue.

Somehow whenever I take the bus to work at 12:27 I miss it, why? Bcuz the driver normally decided to come at least 5 minutes early! The following bus isn’t until 12:48. Which that makes me late to work. Normally j get here ¹⁰⁄₁₅ early not being sure when the driver will get here.

This bus will be the death of me!!! This review is mostly for the am rush hour periods. This bus is almost always late and packed to the brim. I have lost count how many times this bus has made me late to work. When the bus finally does show up there are always 2 and they are so packed you can barely even get on. I do not understand the horrible attitude of some of the drivers either. If the bus is so packed that people can’t even get on, then why does the driver still keep trying to jam people on?!! This is unsafe to riders. The driver should just pass and have everyone at the stops wait. My ideal solution would be for the MTA to add more buses during rush hour, to have a Q55 express bus that makes limited stops to the L or to add those really long double buses to the route. You know, the ones that run on 23^rd St?

Ah, this bus line’s alright. Then again, I don’t take this line very often. Sometimes you wait too long for a ride. A good majority of the bus lines in Queens operate in this manner.
It does get very packed during rush hour. You’re better off walking.
It’s moments like this when you dream about living in Manhattan.

Ah, the 55 bus. Scourge of commuters everywhere. I try not to have to take this one, but, inevitably, I need something and it’s only along the bus route. And I wait far too long for a bus that is overpacked.

When this bus arrives, it’s great. When you miss it, it feels like it shows up about as frequently as Haley’s Comet. You’ll also seen at least 2 – 3 Q55 buses going in the opposite direction.
Forget about getting this bus on time on weekends or evenings. The posted schedule is a lie since the bus often misses the posted times (maybe it’s better during rush hour?). I waited through 3 different posted times one Saturday afternoon and NEVER saw the bus I needed until long after I arrived at the stop.
I’ve gotten so frustrated and annoyed waiting for this bus that I’ve just walked home, typically from 80^th Street. When I did this last night, the bus going the direction I needed did not pass me until I was crossing Fresh Pond Avenue off Myrtle Avenue. At that point, it’s like «I walked this far, what’s a couple more blocks to my road?» Or I’ve gotten to places & felt like I’d walked there on my own before so why should I wait for the bus?
The upside is that if you do catch this bus, it at least won’t be filled to an unsafe degree like some of the other buses.
