The Cake Box

We enjoy the cakes and have purchased many but they recently refused to allow special order on a small cake. Adiós cake box !

We stopped in to see what they had. Bought the carmel salted one and one of the chocolate old fashioned i think it was called and a latte. The cupcakes were seriously the best ever! I cant even remember better ones I have ever had.

Never had a bad cupcake, we even had a custom cake done once. It was amazing and tasty. While all the cupcakes are yummy, the Sweet and Salty are the BEST! Hello Ridgefield

Tom and I wanted to thank you for doing such a wonderfully amazing job with our wedding cake. As «industry» people ourselves, we appreciate how a one week lead-​time isn’t much to work with – and you knocked it out of the ballpark! Our guests are still talking about how perfect the «naked» lemon cake with lemon scented cream cheese frosting was! It was as elegant as it was delicious. Tom and I didn’t even bother saving the top of our cake (it was a blizzard «casualty»!) because we are just going to order another one from you for our anniversary! Thank you for being so amazing to work with! We greatly appreciate your talent, professionalism and The Cakebox!

The cupcakes are the best! Moist, delicious and a variety of flavors… sweet and salty is heaven on earth. My daughter just had a birthday party there and it was simply the best — everyone had a blast, the cupcakes were great and Anna is a true talent!

I’ve gotten two cakes from Cake Box and multiple cupcakes — all of which were delicious. We pre-​ordered a large carrot cake for my husband’s birthday and it was great but more recently stopped by at the last minute for birthday cupcakes and also got a simple black and white cake they had available. It was amazing — far above par. I don’t see the need to bake a cake again!

Our last experience here was so good, we decided to use them for our wedding cupcakes! We asked for them to mock one or two cupcakes for us just to make sure that the taste, look, and decorations were doable for them. The mocks were great, so we ordered them for our wedding. My soon to be husband went to pick them up the morning of the event and they were beautiful! Such a cheery and happy cupcake! They tasted great and the guests loved them! A+

Delicious, moist and flavorful cupcakes. Love the Elvis and the coconut. Had a wonderful cookies and cream cake a party. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Definitely check them out!

This is a Small business worth supporting, their bake goods are ridiculously good, the people are super friendly and they don’t cut corners. Go there if you appreciate someone who cares about what they do and uses real ingredients. Love, love, love them!!! They have helped me out in a jam multiple times and always bring smiles to those eating their baked goods.

Unfortunately, for my 21^st birthday, my mother bought me a sweet and salty cake, it’s my favourite! The cake was so over salted I ended up throwing away three quarters of the cake. When I called to speak to someone, all they said was sorry, nothing was done, or offered to fix this issue.
After that, I was super disappointed and never went back.

I ordered a wedding cake and was very disappointed with the texture and flavor of the cake. The customer service left little to be desired as well. The cake cost over $ 800, so I was expecting top quality and flavor. The venue we chose included dessert. If I had to do it again, I would never have opted out of the venue dessert option.

I ordered a 6″ red velvet cake for my daughter’s 13^th birthday. The cake was so dry, either because it was over baked or not baked that day. For $ 34, would expect a better quality product.

I am not connected to this business but I do live in Ridgefield and am a regular customer. Reading the negative reviews on Unilocal made steam come out of my ears. I have been a professional restaurant critic for 40 years (Gourmet, Saveur
forty plus books) and have eaten around the world. The only explanation for the negative comments are that they are either written by competitors or by people who should have bought their cakes at Costco or Carvel. «Hot pink and purple, hearts, stars and peace signs for 8 year olds» is not what this brilliant bakery does (thank God). The ingredients used here are as perfect as the aesthetic level of what they create. Some people think Crisco and sugar is better then butter cream because that is what they grew up eating. If you are new to the Cake Box please pay no attention to these idiotic reviews. The Cake Box has the BEST cakes and cupcakes in the entire country. If you want Fudgie the Whale for a kiddie party, look elsewhere.

Seriously the best cupcakes I’ve ever eaten in my life. A little pricey but man, they are good. I had them do a gender reveal cake to announce our baby and they were very helpful.

BUT, they cannot decorate a cake!!! I have seen better ones. Initially, when I asked about the price for the 7″ custom cake after I described what I wanted on it, I balked! But, I saw the photos they had in the album so I thought it was really worth their price. I was so wrong. I really don’t mind paying a lot if the cake was really done well but, this didn’t look like it was decorated by a professional! It looked like it was done haphazardly. I was really disappointed and when I talked to the owner, it didn’t sound like he was going to change the decoration (he was defensive). I also didn’t have time to get another cake elsewhere so I took this with me and just charged this to experience.
I totally agree with the other Unilocal reviewers. It was really a bad decorating job. I could have baked the cake myself and bought decorations at the party store.
An expensive lesson learned. Now, I know.

The Cake Box is one of the best bakeries I have been to… period. The cupcakes are outstanding, the cakes are amazing and the coffee/​breakfast selection is great. I can’t say enough about the entire selection. My wife and I go there WAY to often… and it is worth it!
Outside of the obvious, the staff is friendly and helpful. Bob and Jordan (the owners) are great and the rest of the staff are awesome. There is good reason I go out of my way everyday to get my get my coffee there even when there is a Starbucks right next to my office.

Very Bad Experience!
They did not deliver what was ordered… the day before an 8 year old’s big birthday party. They prepared a really inappropriate cake for an 8 year old! I tried to explain to the management how wrong this order turned out and all he could say was that if we returned the cake he would refund the cost. I asked if he would provide another cake
and he said «No». Obviously, we were stuck with a cake intended for a 90 year old, not an 8 year old! There was no apology for the mistake made by the person who took the order, who apparently did not write up the order correctly. The owner, co-​owner, was rude and could care less about it. Shame on them!

Beware, this place is not what it used to be.
I have worked for two bakeries in the past. I have been ordering birthday cakes here for three years. I placed an order for a cake this week for an 8 year old girl, and 20 of her friends (I was unsure what size to order and told the person on the phone it would be for 20 eight year olds).
I think I was pretty easy and simple in my instructions. Hot pink and purple, hearts, stars, and peace signs to match the party theme. I don’t think that is too much to ask, especially as a former cake decorator.
When I picked up this $ 70 creation the day before the party what I was handed was a cake not for an 8 year old, but for an 80 year old.
Not a single thing I asked for had been done. Light pink, drab green, and generic flowers. This was not a cake for a child’s party.
They did not offer to remedy the situation in any way other than allowing me to return the cake if I drove it back to them, but they wouldn’t make another one. I live half an hour away, I’m certainly not going to drive another hour total to a place that isn’t solving the problem. I will instead drive to another bakery in the morning that is happy to cater to my needs.
So much for wanting to please the customer.

Absolutely the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. I try cupcakes everywhere I travel but I always come back to The Cake Box. They have great flavors, the cake is moist and the frosting is a perfect, fluffy consistency. No goopy, hard frosting here.
Their cookies and iced coffee are also wonderful.
And they do such fun fondant cakes! For my aunt’s 50^th they made a replica of an Hermes bag and it was great! And tasted delicious.

Best cupcakes! The flavors are amazing, they are light and creamy. Compared to Sprinkles cupcakes (in CA), these are 100% better. Sprinkles are way too dense and heavy. I am looking forward to my next trip back east and doing a cupcake run to the Cake Box.
