Abacus Event Rental

I chose Abacus for my wedding because they were near the venue and had reasonable prices. I received a quote from there website and had someone email me about a week later regarding specifics. They had poor customer service and took at least 4 days to respond to my emails, sometimes up to a week. I called twice and never got an answer or call back they would only email. When I emailed them two different people would email me back, one person told me they had six 8ft tables available the other person said «no we dont have that many so I just added more 6 ft tables to your order». Then when trying to pay my deposit they once again didn’t return my email for a week and when they did they asked if I knew there were two different orders for banquet tables on my request, which was a change THEY had made. Sounds like they have poor communication skills with each other and with their customers. I went with a different company.

My experience with Abacus was probably the most disappointing part of my wedding. Leading up to the event they were difficult to get a hold of, which looking back was a red flag.
Their website provides an option to order «beaded flatware» accompanied by a picture of a full set of flatware, I ordered 200 sets, so I thought. Once I arrived at my venue I found they had only provided forks. After several attempts to get a hold of them regarding the spoons and forks, they informed us those were not included and we would need to pay another $ 140 for those items. Anyone who looked at their website would assume they were ordering a full set of silverware; if they had any interest in providing customer service that moment would have been the time. However, they showed no willingness to compromise and without the luxury of time to find a better company we were forced to pay the extra money.
In addition, they provided the wrong types of chairs and a case of mason jars instead of wine glasses. Following the return of our items they contacted me, via text message, to question me about the missing glasses that we never received. l explained the confusion was on their end and never heard from them again. That was the last time I will do business with this company.

I am a wedding and event coordinator, and have worked with Donna at Abacus on multiple weddings and events and have always been impressed with the service. We have always received the items we ordered on time and as promised, and I find the rates to be competitive and fair. I have recommended Abacus to all of my customers and friends.

Awful customer service. I made a reservation for chairs months in advance of my wedding. I placed the reservation online but called many times wanting to confirm the reservation. I never could get anyone to call me back. After a few weeks I received an invoice via email. I paid my deposit. The next time I heard from Abacus was 3 weeks before my wedding, they were wanting me to pick up my chairs– they had my wedding date wrong!!! They didn’t have any chairs available for my wedding and refused to give my deposit back. Thank goodness another rental company had chairs available… I had an awesome experience with their competitor in Portland.
