History

Established in 2010.

I spent several years as communications manager at the Oakland Museum. I left in 2010 and began to provide editorial services to small businesses and entrepreneurs, improving bios, resumes, web copy, business correspondence, manuscripts, and college essays.

With the help of the Berkeley chapter of a business networking group (BNI) and my webmaster I launched WordFixer Communications. I really enjoy helping clients clarify their content and presentation, both online and on the page.

Business Owner

I’m a dedicated word person, with a masters in journalism and 30 years’ experience in book publishing and events, PR, and communications. I’m also a writing coach at a local high school and tutor college-​bound students.

A transplant from the Midwest via Tucson, I lived in SF for several years before moving to the East Bay, which I love. Lots of healthy small businesses and opportunities to collaborate and grow professionally here.

I support organizations that work on behalf of literacy/​education, animal welfare, and social justice. Recently I served as copywriter for two Taproot Foundation projects (in-​kind expertise for nonprofits): the East Bay Jewish Community Center; and an innovative family health center in East Palo Alto.
