Good Pizza love the calzones more. Also average pricing. The staff members are very friendly and laid back. Fridays are rather busy during dinnertime, but worth the wait. I will come back and recommend to friends.

Mellow Mushroom has some of the best pizza no doubt about it. A little pricey but worth it for the quality you are getting. I went here on a date I obviously suggested the place and I didn’t have to pay.(Woot Woot) The service a little slow but everyone working I encountered was friendly. If you haven’t been you have to go! They have a great selection of pizza.

First off. YUM!!! Went here last night after having it bookmarked for some time and it was totally worth it! We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was sooooooo good I slapped my bfs hand so he couldn’t eat anymore lol I could sit and eat that all day! We also had the mellowterranean and the house special pizza! Super delicious full of flavor and toppings! I could only gobble down one and a half slices. I tried some of the ciders in the 4 flights they offer and they were all good, believe it was berry, pineapple, blackberry pear and golden monkey. The pineapple cider taste like an Astro Pop(if you remember those lollipops from the 90s) turned out to be my favorite. Will definitely be coming again!

The only thing not getting this place 5 stars is the wait when you get here. And that is just because this place is AWESOME!!! I am from CT and in the Northeast we have great pizza! In Richmond — the Mellow mushroom is it! They have great pizza, the crust is amazeballs and they even have a gluten free option. In addition, they are one of the only places that offers a cider beer flight. Yup! lots of places offer«wine flights»(where you can try lots of different wines) but here you can try different beers. It’s great! Parking is a little tough sometimes too, but worth it for the taste of the pizza.

Mellow mushroom is def a spot for pizza. If you want just a place to hangout or relax with some great brews. I would recommend checking out this place. Great friendly staff and the atmosphere is very wonderful. Being seeing me more often here!

I have eaten at Mellow Mushrooms all over the South. The Mellow in Clemson was one of my go-tos in college. Somehow, I’d never been to the one in Richmond until recently. Mother Dearest and I came on a Saturday for lunch prior to the Rodin exhibit at the VMFA. There was nearly a 45 minute wait, but we sallied up to the bar and were served immediately. We split a calzone which was a super large portion and very very cheap eating after being split. The calzone was bready and delicious. Haven’t had the other menu offerings here yet, but will assume that they are just as tasty as at other locations. The pretzels are awesome, and the Cosmic Karma Pizza is my favorite Americanized pizza, maybe anywhere. Also, I was blown away by how quickly our food arrived. I was ravenous by the time our food came at the Clemson location, but we were in and out in a jiffy in Carytown.

Real good specialty pizza in Carytown. Had a great meal, good service. Lots of unique pizza selections. A place you’d drive to when you’re looking for a fun place to eat. A bit noisy and loud cause it’s got that restaurant/bar thing happening with tv screens and a general buzz in the air. The pretzel app was great, not tiny bites but a full, soft pretzel. Wide variety of pizza to choose from. They’ll all be good, it’s your personal preference, so check out the menu to see what fancies you.

Yummy Pizza! Place has many different types of pizza you can choose from, and their ingredients are very unique and fresh. My favorite include the Thai Dye, BBQ Chicken, and the Holy Shiitake mushroom. The pizzas are always cooked to perfection, and their crust is on point. This place has a nice beer selection as well. Place can get a bit crowded, but I think it is worth it.

Yes, I know this is a chain restaurant, but their pizza is definitely great and I love their wings. You must order the wings tossed in buffalo &BBQ(special request). Absolutely amazing. I fell in love with their mellowterranian pizza and always ask for extra tziki sauce. The wait can be long at times so be prepared.

I’m actually a big fan of mellow mushroom. It can get pretty crowded here so it’s hard to be a place you just drop in. Expect a wait. I hear there is supposed to be a other location opening in 2016 near chesterfield towns centre(which would be great near my house). Of course their regular pizza is good. Some great draft beer. I like their fun tee shirts they sell. But something I found I really like … Late night they go to New York pizza slices up at the bar. Giant slices and I think they are even better then the regular pizza. So as the crowds die out late night that may just be the best time to try them out.

It was our first time at Mellow Mushroom and it was so good. The staff was all very friendly. We ordered the Bayou Bleu because it was an unusual pizza with shrimp on it. It was amazing! The only thing bad about the pizza was that the shrimp kept falling off the pizza and lost a few shrimp to the floor. Wish they would’ve melted cheese on top of the pizza so there would’ve been no shrimp spillage. Our waiter never let our drinks empty out and we didn’t have to ask for anything.

So good here. I love the holy shitake the most. I’ve tried the meat lovers, potato and one more I can’t recall at the moment. Pros: great buttery crust Great flavors Cons: pricey Doesn’t take reservations Inconvenient street parking

This place was poppin’ on the Saturday night that we visited! Came with a group of friends around 6:30pm, and the wait was about an hour long. Luckily, the location of Mellow Mushroom was great — we walked around and explored all the cute nearby shops, and by the time we got back, the table was ready! We tried Kosmic Karma, Funky Q Chicken, and Thai Dye. I really liked the Thai Dye, but the two other pizzas were less than satisfying for me. They were very greasy; the Kosmic Karma was too salty, and Funky Chicken was too sweet. My friends loved all three though! Their rating perhaps would be closer to a 4 star than my 3. The slices were HUGE, and the service was very friendly. Decently priced, too!

We’ve been meaning to go here for quite a while now as we love pizza, and finally decided to make the trek to Carytown to give it a try. My mom was visiting from upstate NY and finding a place to eat that is Celiac friendly(allergy to gluten) isn’t always the easiest thing She had been to another Mellow Mushroom in another state and said that they had a gluten free menu, and sure enough they do. –Food: Anyone that reads my pizza reviews knows that I love Buffalo Chicken pizza, so seeing it on their menu was an opportunity I could not pass up. Yet I also enjoy Mushroom Pepperoni pizza. Perhaps in some pizzerias, this could be an unsolvable conundrum, but Mellow Mushroom lets you do half and half of any of their pizzas, so that’s what happened. The buffalo chicken half was excellent and had buffalo sauce, ranch sauce, chicken, onion, bacon, and Parmesan cheese. I’m not used to having buff chicken with onions or bacon, but I’m now a huge fan. The sauce wasn’t overwhelming and had a nice buffalo-y taste. The other half was pepperoni mushroom and was a solid choice as well. It is worth mentioning how filling the pizza is, and it mostly stems from the breadiness of the crust. The crust is basically like eating bread, but somehow it doesn’t taste too bready or make it not taste like pizza. Pizza is essentially toppings on an edible bread plate anyway, but in this case the bready(and delicious) taste really comes through. It’s still thin enough to not be too overwhelming, but just know that it’s not thin and crunchy crust. My fiancée got a plain cheese with olive oil and garlic base and said it was really good. My mom ordered the gluten free pizza which is cooked on gluten free crust in a dedicated kitchen in the basement, boxed and handled away from all gluten. While she didn’t dislike it, she said that the crust was a little dry and not like the doughier crust at the other Mellow Mushroom she went to. But she didn’t get sick afterward from cross contamination, so that’s a plus. –Cost: The main reason the 5th star is being withheld because a Medium half-special pizza, Small Cheese, and a Gluten free pizza came to ~$ 50. I guess it’s not outrageous given that we each had a pizza that lasted at least 2 meals, but compared to some local«$ 15 Large» pizza places, it’s a little pricey. –Service: Our actual server was great, but the main problem that others mention is wait time. This isn’t the place you’d go to grab a quick slice to eat, so keep that in mind. We had maybe a 15 minute wait at the door to be seated followed by the time to make our pizza. We weren’t in a rush, but it’d be hard to be in and out during a main meal time in an hour. The server was knowledgeable about their menu and gluten free options though, and was a cool dude, so no complaints. –Atmosphere: Located in the hip Carytown, Mellow Mushroom borrows some hipness from outside and keeps the whole place pretty chill. There is some funky artwork on the wall and some neat colored light highlights throughout. –Overall: Really liked it and will be back. Small gripes include a slightly higher price tag and a slightly longer wait for pizza than some other places we like. The crust is delightfully different and the flavors spot on. Definitely a place we plan on returning to, probably when we’re in the area since Carytown is a bit out of our way. Check it out!

My best friend and I hadn’t eaten all day, so practically we would’ve resorted to eating dirt if the chance presented itself. Pizza wasn’t really ideal but it’s never not an option either. I figured it would be the typical, run-of-the-mill joint that tastes the same as any other«best» pizza, but this was different. What struck me initially was the dough. I’ve never had crust taste this scrumptious. Some sort of whole grain mix, or something involving wheat, but I actually enjoyed the crust to its complete extent. You can’t really go wrong with pepperoni, which I usually order, but my friend ordered the Mellowterranean and made me want to cheat on my order. Everything seemed fresh and came out hot. We were seated relatively quickly, a window seat in view of the town. Particularly funny because you could watch adjust their hair/makeup in the window. The ambiance was nice. Oh, and the bathrooms were really cool, lol. The only issue was the waitress, but perhaps she was over work for the day and just wanted to chill. It tasted good enough to come back, which is intended.

I am reformed! My takeout experience with MM was not good. Today I went back to eat with friends, and was quite impressed. We had barbecue chicken pizza and a glass of cabernet, and it was delicious! Service was polite and attentive. I feel like I’ve been missing out since I’ve always avoided this place because of my bad first experience. Can’t wait to go back! Be advised, the lines are almost always out the door at peak times. You will probably wait a while for a table!

Friday night, good friends, cold beer, great pizza. What’s not to love? Great microbrew choices. Create your own flight of four for $ 6 and find a new favorite beer! We were pleasantly surprised by the pizza too. I figured it would just be meh but we really enjoyed it. And portions are HUGE! While we didn’t have kids with us, we saw several families who did, proving that it’s not just for adults. Service can be a tad slow, but they were very busy, so it’s understandable. And really, why be in a hurry when you go somewhere like this? Enjoy!

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite chain pizza places. Seems like they’re after the college crowd since there’s one at UVA, VCU, and now at Tech. My favorite is the Holy Shittake Pie — soooo good! The olive oil and garlic powder seasoning goes along perfectly with the shittake mushrooms and parmesan cheese flakes. Would come here just for this. Thai Dye Pie is also an interesting one — the chicken has curry taste to it if you’re into that and the Thai dressing they drizzle on top is the best part. My only complaint is the long wait time– both for the table and for the food. Even on the weekdays this place is packed for dinner. But hey, if people are willing to wait that much it must be worth it right?

Had heard lots of kudos about this place and finally got a chance to try! A lot of choices for pizzas including gluten-free which was good for my friend! I got the veggie pizza minus the tofu plus pepperoni. Tasty!!!

I must admit, I am a sucker for a GOOD pizza! And Mellow Mushroom my dears is where its at! Good place for groups, kiddos, parties and or couples. Come in early or during the off time if you do not want to wait. View the menu before as they have much on there and you can get lost. Do order something with mushrooms guys for pete’s sake the place is called Mellow Mushroom. The toppings are always fresh and the service has always been great every time myself or family has visited. I recommend this establishment and have visited it in various locations: Carytown, Virginia, Rockwall, TX and Fayetteville, NC to name a few. The quality of the food is always the same no matter what. The Wallingford Family’s favorite Mellow Mushroom Pizza is the House Special without tomatoes. I believe fellow Unilocaler Keith C. said it best«shut yo mouf… smack yo mama good pizza.» That is all.
