As the name implies, Indo-Pak sells Indian and Pakistani groceries. I ventured in when I wanted to make Dal Makhani. As with most ethnic grocery stores, I was impressed with the price of basic ingredients like lentils and spices here. I picked up a big bag of garam masala for the price of a tiny jar at a regular grocery store. They also had lots of ingredients in their pods or seeds if you aren’t lazy like me and want to grind the spices yourself for extra fresh flavor. Along with the basics, you’ll find prepackaged spice mixes for different types of Indian food. Why spend your time mixing the exact ingredients for Tandoori when you can pick up a pre-mixed packet with instructions on how to make it on the back? Instructions are written in Indian and in English. I also picked up some whole wheat naan and browsed Indian sweets and frozen foods. There’s also a section of fresh produce. When I checked out, I was rung up by a younger, very friendly clerk who spoke perfect English. This would make me confident about going back were I looking for something specific or hard to find.
