Craneway Pavilion

I’ve gone here for events, including for the recent art show (KPFA?) Beautifully naturally lit building on the edge of the bay, with a gorgeous view, fresh wind, and plentiful parking.

Beautiful venue. Industrial look w/​polished concrete floors & exposed ceilings. Windows cover the walls, providing a panoramic view of the bay & San Francisco skyline.

Been to the Craneway Pavilion three times and realized that it has escaped my review. It’s located off 580 at the end of Harbor Way South next to the Bay. The Pavilion was a building that was part of the former Ford Manufacturing plant with beautiful views of the Bay.
My visit to the Pavilion was when Unilocal held a large party event there. The open warehouse-​like building was perfect for a large event. Since that event, I’ve been to several East Bay home and garden shows here as well. Also, at the back of the Craneway Pavilion is a little known museum, the Rosie the Riveter Museum, which is operated by the US National Park Service. (

Overall, a great venue for large events with ample parking accommodations.

Awesome place to host events!
Things I like about this place:
— Great location along the bay with spectacular views
— Huge venue that can accommodate a large crowd
— Situated in industrial part so can find free parking outside
Definitely excited to come back here for more shows!

what fun!
We’ve been to many events here including:
A Green car fesival — got to drive several hybrid /​electric vehicles including
the Leaf and the latest Priuses.
Homefront Festival – celebrating the Rosies the Riveters, and Richmond’s contribution
to the WW II effort.
Memorial to George Yoshida— musician, teacher, principal, and extraordinary human
Other events which I can’t recall.
The Craneway also has held:
Music concerts including Bjork, Elvis Costello
Beer and Chocolate Festivals
Roller Derby
And this year KPFA will be having their annual Holiday Crafts Fair on Dec 20 & 21^st
Yay! So happy that it is returning to the East Bay
The Craneway is huge, sunny with fantastic view of the Bay.
It’s located next to the Rosie the Rivetor Museum!
The only bad thing I can say is that the signage for getting there is very poor.

We went here doe nerium meeting. And I have to say the building is pretty nice and simple, historical.
On the inside we had beautiful view of the ocean and San Francisco. Which was my favorite part of it all.
The down part that it gets really hot inside in warm weather that we had. And there was no a/​c, fans. After sitting there in the meeting for 5 hours, we were beat tired!
And also they had super hard chairs which were really uncomfortable to sit on :(
Other then that it is perfect place for big or small events!

Had a great and awesome night at the roller derby like always. But this bar inside the venue? It’s like every bar tenders don’t even want to be there. The only reason people even spend money here is because it’s the only place to get liquor inside the venue during bouts now. I would almost guarantee if there was a competitor, cobwebs would start to grow on the beer taps. I don’t even buy water from this place anymore.
But here’s the kicker from last night to cause me to write this review. The bar ran out of draft beer. So there solution was to empty 12oz bottles of beer into the 16oz cups and still charge people the full $ 6 price? That’s ridiculous! And when I brought this situation up to them all I got was their crappy attitude!!!
B. A. D. needs to run the liquir/​beer again. I’m sure we can get fans/​skaters to volunteers to help out just to get ride of this bar…

Came here for Audio On The Bay earlier this summer, and was pleasantly surprised with what I encountered.
The venue itself was unexpectedly large — it’s basically just a wide, lengthy warehouse with glass paneling (so that you never find yourself feeling enclosed or wishing for additional room). Additionally, for the event that I attended, I found that it was surprisingly very easy to make your way to the front of the crowd — being that all you had to do was cut around the outside of the venue and make your way to the front side of the stage by following the warehouse’s perimeter.
Speaking of this same outdoor area, you’re offered a pretty pleasant view of the surrounding bay — which just so happened to offer a fantastic sunset on the day that I paid a visit. The combination of water rushing past pairs surprisingly nicely with the relentless thud of banging bass and a plethora of neon lights…
Also worth giving kudos to are the staff that help keep the venue up and running!
While waiting in the Will Call line to claim our ticket cards, my friends and I found ourselves getting pretty thirsty. On a whim, I decided to ask one of the event staff if I could have one of the bottles of water that I saw stacked by the case in a corner of the tent. To my surprise, he handed out waters to myself and everyone in my group! I’m not sure whether to attribute this to Insomniac’s customer service, to Craneway’s, or to volunteers who happened to be working the event. Either way, the good vibes were evident and truly helped me get my night going on a very positive note.
Speaking of which…
For what it’s worth, the rumors that everyone has about Nor Cal ravers are indeed true — they’re so much friendlier and more polite than what I’m accustomed to here in LA! The crowd was social, good-​natured, and clearly just wanted to have a good time (as opposed to LA’s party-​going crowd, whom I find are sometimes just looking for an excuse to make complete fools of themselves without getting judged).
(Maybe everyone’s just raised better here!!!)
I’d gladly pay a visit to Craneway again in the future. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to get ravey once again during my next trip up north!

Craneway Pavillion is literally a warehouse by the bay. Came here for a EDM concert and was a little surprised to find it located in an industrial zone with lots of warehouses in the vicinity. There’s plenty of spaces for event parking around, but if you live in the city, you can also take a Lyft or UberX out to Richmond. It should cost about $ 30-​$ 35 (without surge pricing).
The view of the bay is pretty decent at night, and especially good if you just want to chill and enjoy the breeze while listening to the music. The ceiling is pretty high and the warehouse spacious, so you dont feel too cramped. Security is rather chill if you go late.
There’s limited bathroom in the venue, but tonnes of potty loos outside. Overall great venue!

I’ve heard about this place but never had a reason to visit. It’s kind of hidden but the entrance is right near the water. We pulled into a museum to ask a guard where Craneway was. Maybe there’s signage but it’s awfully small signage.
We attended a women’s roller derby tournament. it was great to watch the sailboats pass by as well as the game. Food trucks were the main source of concessions although a few bars were set up inside with wine, beer, and mixed drinks.
The bathrooms were like one might expect in a stadium environment. They weren’t too bad but the crowd was minimal on Fathers Day for the roller derby crowd.

When I heard Audio On The Bay was at a warehouse, I was a little skeptical. But when we arrived at Craneway Pavilion, I got really excited! Walking in, the bathrooms are on the side, the warehouse was huge, and the stage was in the far back. There were windows on one side of the warehouse so you can look out into the bay. You can even walk out to look at the water. Beautiful!
There are no seats, so be prepared to stand during the whole event. It was big enough that I didn’t feel claustrophobic. It’s too bad Richmond is so far from me, otherwise I would be down to go to more events here.

This venue is gorgeous! I came here for Audio on the Bay and I didn’t think that a building with half of the walls being glass could carry sound and bass so well. Fortunately, the glass was mighty strong. When you enter, the stage was set up at the far back. To your right is an entire wall that looks out into the ocean with a large porch area for food and drinks. Essentially, you are given a gorgeous view of the outdoors with the comfort of being inside and celebrating.
There are no seats but everyone sits down wherever they like. The staff is chill, maintained order, and didn’t care what you did as long as you were being good and kept to yourself.

This is a great venue, we attended a Rosie The Riveter memorial dedication ceremony complete with a Cherry Popppin’ Daddies and A swing dance lesson. There are great views of SF, plenty of parking, and a restaurant around the corner. It was an old Ford assembly plant and is in the middle of the Historic Richmond Kaiser shipyards complex and the Port of Richmond.

Came here for Alesso several months back and then more recently for Excision and Showtek. We went in super late so there wasn’t much of a line and the security was less strict than last time thats for sure. The venue is okay… spacious and tons of room for dancing and getting wild. We found out there are bathrooms inside, like actual stalls but the lines were pretty crazy long. There were still the option of the porta potties outside with less of a line.

I was not expecting a rave when I came here to see Alesso in August. It was hot and extremely crowded near the stage. I didn’t even try to get close and hung out on the outskirts.
Security was extremely strict with what we could bring in. Caroline T. was forced to toss her expensive hand cream and hand sanitizer. Really?! What are we going to do? Ingest it?! Moisturize each other?!
When we got past security, I REALLY needed to go to the bathroom. The girl’s bathroom line was ridonkulous. Someone shouted that there were Port-​a-​potties outside so I made a mad dash to that area. There was literally a sea of people outside trying to get air, go to the bathroom, and walking aimlessly around. I had to bob and weave my way through, but everywhere I turned there was no line. It was just madness! I got fed up and went back inside to wait in the line that grew by 10+. I nearly peed in my pants! I found out later that there were plenty of vacant Port-​a-​potties in the back. You just had to shove your way through to get to them. Terribly organized!
When I finally relived myself I was able to enjoy the music. No complaints about the sound quality, but again, I just stayed away from the crowd and didn’t even catch a glimpse of Alesso.
There was no seating whatsoever. I was expecting a little more from the venue. I thought it was going to be more upscale, but it just reminds me of a warehouse. Meh indeed.

After you make a right off Harbor from Hwy 580, you can’t help but notice the big giant tuna can that sits on top of the hills. Shamu, the killer whale must live in one and Chicken of the Sea lives next door to Shamu. I’m sure of it. They live like gods in those tuna cans…
But back to the venue…
Omg! Fantastic views of the bay. Seriously, if they knocked down that venue, you can build some nice houses with views views views!
Oh wait… back to the venue…
It’s a big giant white canvas warehouse where you can build the best event in your life (ie weddings, dance events, etc). I went to Oktoberfest here and the venue was impressive for a rock band. It held a few hundred drunk, beer guzzle folks… mostly locals because I was eavesdropping on conversations.
If you ever make it this way… stay away from the other side of 580 for your own good! Just drive straight to the venue and don’t look back! Once your there, you’ll be blown away by the views views views!

Been wanting to checkout the Craneway Pavillion for quite awhile and what perfect way to come and see the Bay Area women’s roller derby event. Came here for a Unilocal elite event hosted by our lovely East Bay Community Ambassador Nique. This place is pretty massive! Such a great venue to have everything in one roof (i.e. weddings, birthdays, corporate events, tradeshows, concerts… the list goes on!) In fact there was another event going on the other side of the Pavillion. The roller derby girls were bad ass and had such a great time watching them. Parking was pretty packed but was able to score a parking spot in the lot. It gets chilly since this place is right by the water so dress warm!

Don’t be put-​off by the fact that you have to drive through Richmond to get here.
The Pavillion is actually the old Ford Manufacturing facility, and the inside is a giant, airy and well-​lit warehouse.
We came to watch Roller Derby (which is awesome, by the way!) but couldn’t help but keep commenting on the beautiful light and shadows made in the building, as well as the awesome bay view.
This is definitely a cool place, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for other activities held here.

What a terrific venue! I came for a Unilocal Elite Event and a Derby rollerskating event.
I love the super high ceilings that let in light. The glass windows that surround the venue also shows off the beautiful sea water of the bay.
It’s cold outside and breezy because of the water front, but you can’t deny the view is gorgeous. Picture worthy! Parking lot and plenty of street parking all around.
Also there is a restaurant, «Assemble» right there around the back as well.

Recently came to Craneway Pavilion for the 1^st time to see BJORK
Thanks to previous reviews, I knew not to park in their lots but instead scored some nearby street parking… made the hassle of leaving that much easier & quicker & helped to keep the lovely evening, well, lovely
The facility is absolutely gorgeous & seeing the sunset while looking out at the skyline of the best city on Earth… I gush
Walking in was non-​eventful, ticket quickly scanned. Drinky lines went really quickly & both cash /​credit cards were taken
The sound was really good — not too loud but got the point across. No distortion, sightlines were as expected given we’re in a warehouse
We had VIP seats & even though we were relatively late arrivers & got in the back, we still had excellent views of the stage (although ducking /​weaving required)
Leaving was equally as enjoyable — people letting each other out, no one crowding the sidewalks or looking to mow you down — as we’ve all experienced at other venues
Looking forward to coming back for sure!

Rolled tonight to the Craneway with 3 Carloads of Unilocalers to See Woman’s Roller Derby. What a Blast It was Richmond Vs Oakland Roller Girls. The was Pyramid Brewery selling beer. Girl Scouts selling Cookies. Boiler house selling food. Señor Sisig had a Food Truck outside selling Sisig Burritos. They should add more food trucks like the Off The Grid Events.
The Richmond Jammers where killing the Oakland team. They were scoring left and right.
