I have been going to Cracker Barrels throughout the southeast since 1983. This Cracker Barrel has the smallest portions than any of the other ones I have been to. All the side dishes were half full. This is the second time I have been here and it was the same both times. Waitresses are always nice but the service is slow!

Good comfort food, really slow and poor service, there was no hostess when we got there, a family in front of us waiting. By the time the hostess came around there were like 15 people in line waiting. It took a long time to get acknowledged by waitress. Another waiter came by and took our drink orders, coffee came with no creamer. When our waitress finally came, asked for coffee creamer after placing order. After 5 minutes passed after the waitress said she’d be right back with creamer, i got up and went over to a server that was bussing a table and asked for some, i had seen her walk by with a bowl of creamer. Two tables seated after us were greeted by their waiter and served before us. Every time we come here there is a service issue.

As I always say: I am never disappointed at Cracker Barrel. Everything on the menu is delicious! In recent years they have added a healthier section to the menu for those who don’t want to fully indulge. Cracker Barrel has hands down the best pancakes ever. The french toast is also excellent. For dinner, I always incorporate their green beans into my meal.(if I’m not getting pancakes, that is) Recently I have been loving their grilled chicken tenderloins. Here’s the thing: you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. As I said, I have never had a bad experience. If you have ever had to travel away from home for weeks/months at a time, Cracker Barrel is consistent across the country; a little taste of home. Yes, this is a chain restaurant, and yes, it is fabulous. The«store» area makes any wait time you have go by quickly and there is something to interest every age group. Where else can you find a great meal, a jacket, a Dolly Parton CD and season 2 of the Andy Griffith show all in one place?

When I want pancakes, I go to Cracker Barrel. I still have not found any pancakes anywhere that rival these. I think what gets me is that they have a hint of sweetness, are a little crispy on the outside, and plain delicious on the inside. Yes, I am raving about a chain restaurant’s breakfast. Shoot me! My hunt for the #BestBrunchInRVA is still going strong. I know that we have some amazing local brunch joints, but when you want something tried and true that speaks to your inner country, you just can’t go wrong with the CB, baby! Not to mention it’s right down the street from my house, so if it’s a morning that I don’t really feel like getting gussied up to go out and face the world, I can pretty much bet that I won’t run into anyone I know at this location. Which is a bonus. Every time I’ve come here, the customer service is on point. The waiters and waitresses are so friendly! I get the idea that CB treats their employees well and gives them a reason to smile everyday. Like i mentioned, I usually get pancakes. Mama’s Pancake Breakfast to be exact. But on this last venture to the Old Country Sto’, I got the oatmeal because I was planning to work out afterward and didn’t want anything heavy. Well, be still my oatmeal-lovin’ heart! It was phenomenal. Cranberries, apples, and nuts were perfectly portioned and swimming through my creamy oatmeal. I oped to not get the side of milk that you can pour into your oatmeal concoction, but just know that that option is there if you want it. Folks, go forth and get yourself a homemade breakfast!

Terrible service! After waiting 30 minute for eggs, they were brought cold. After speaking with Manager he took them and said they will make us new. Waited over 15 minutes still no eggs or Manager around. We walked out! Over the years we have never had a good experience there. Food is so overpriced when you can go to Boycheck’s get fast service, more food for the money and it is always hot. We will never go back to a Cracker Barrel. Can’t figure out why they are so popular?!

Terrible service. Waitress didn’t get our order. My brother ordered chicken salad and she sent grilled chicken, which he said he did not want. My sister asked the waitress three times for soft rolls. She repeatedly sent hard ones and gave up and said we don’t have any. And you expect a tip? Really. That was a disgrace. The manager should be replaced. His hiring skills are reckless and careless. He never once came by to ask about the service and quality of food.

Benjamin was the best server and all the staff was top notch. Breakfast is always good, although I thought the bacon was a little skimpy this time around. Outside of that, great meal, great location, and great staff. You really can’t complain… even with the crazy crowd in the general store attached.

My mug for my root beer was chipped, silverware dirty, fried catfish was very greasy and undercooked. Although my service was attentive she brought me my bill after only a few minutes of being served. It was an awkward and unappetizing experience. The manager was walking around and as I was leaving he saw I hadn’t eaten more than a bite of the catfish and compensated me. I most likely would not return to this Cracker Barrel again.

Kind of a guilty pleasure when in the mood for the kind of food your southern grandmother used to cook for you. But my grandmother’s food was much better. But this will do in a pinch. I have only been to this location twice and each time the service has been fast and efficient and food as expected.

The food at any Cracker Barrel is consistently good and fairly priced. Service is always fast and friendly. The store out front always has something interesting to look at, if you do have a short wait during busy times. This obviously is a niche market with a certain style. However, they have it down to a science like the Disney World of country food.

I have been to several Cracker Barrel Restaurants, including this one several times. If you are looking for Fusion and/or Top Chef food… than this is NOT your place. It is just GOOD Traditional Food which makes you feel good… AKA: «Comfort Food». I wanted a Traditional Breakfast yesterday and I decided to head to Cracker Barrel. The place is always nice and clean and the people who work there are always friendly. The young Lady who took my order could not have been nicer. I wish I had written her name down, as she did a great job… When my meal came out, it had gravy and grits as a side… Both were just barely warm, so I asked her if she could stick both in the Microwave and heat it up… within the 2 minutes, she brought it out with a smile… I had the Grandpa Breakfast as I am in the Grandpa Age group now and have been for several years… However, the food was very good and they gave you plenty. It was just a Traditional Breakfast with NO fancy plate which looks like it should belong in a Showcase for Viewing ONLY… The Coffee was hot and had a good taste, and I had my traditional 4 cups… so I was wired when I left… lol Anyway, I will again return to Cracker Barrel. They do a great job. The food is good and if you are looking the Fusion of food… Cracker Barrel is not the place for you. :-) Finally, the Fried Apples were Excellent… The apples were fresh, and full of Apple Cinnamon Flavor… a MUST order.

Cracker Barrel has some favorites that are nice to come here to get without the hassle of making yourself; biscuits and gravy, chicken & dumplings, pot roast, Etc. their pancakes aware to die for. Perfectly cooked and balanced with a light crispness on the outer edge for the oil. They are perfect. Cheap in cost and you get a lot of food for the price paid. When I went this last time, we clearly said we want the checks separate and we were different parties, but when the food was brought out, our biscuits and grits were on the same plate. Good thing we liked eAch other, cause it would have been awkward sharing a plate of food. That was the one issue but everything else was fine. Good food.

Perfect Omelet today. Like I had my own personal Chef make it! Ashley, my server was 5 star all the way. I felt so good after breakfast I almost spent a bunch of money in their General Store! I miss their old bacon but can live without it. Typing this review as I rock away on one of the dozens of rocking chairs for sale on their porch.

I have been to a lot of Cracker Barrels however, this was the first visit for me to this location. It wasn’t a very good experience either. Obviously I’m not going to mark down because of the wait, it’s a popular place especially on the weekends so no issue there. The dining was a different story altogether. My girlfriend and I both ordered breakfast and we got biscuits and cornbread as well. She had requested to get turkey sausage as well as bacon in place of something else that came with her meal. The waitress said it wouldn’t be a problem to substitute it. It was also requested the bacon be cooked really crispy and the waitress stated«that’s the way I like my bacon so I definitely know what you mean.» Our biscuits and cornbread came out first and I’m not really sure what happened, but the cornbread was slightly dry like it was over cooked. Our meals then came out later and my girlfriend never got the turkey sausage she had ordered and her bacon wasn’t anywhere near crispy to which the waitress stated«I’m not sure that is going to be crispy enough for you» even though earlier she stated she knew exactly how it would be cooked. The bacon was sent back twice and whomever was cooking obviously didn’t get the concept of crispy bacon. The pancakes I had ordered were just about as tough as shoe leather even with putting a lot of butter and syrup on them they were still tough to cut and tough to chew. On top of all this, everything that we had ordered wasn’t even hot. You could call it «luke warm» at best even though that is a stretch. When the waitress came back to see how everything was we explained the situation and she had the manager come speak to us. He stated that he would make adjustments to the check. We sat there for a few minutes and he never came back even though he walked near our table a few times after he left. The waitress finally came back over and asked if we got a new check to which we told her we didn’t. She brought over the new check and the adjustments were taken care of. I’m not really sure what happened on this particular day, but I have had way better experiences at other Cracker Barrels. This one I most likely won’t be back to.

I love having breakfast here. I took my daughter for a mommy/daughter breakfast and we had some delicious pancakes , We were seated within 10 mins of walking in(and they were clearly busy) and our server was great. She made sure we had everything we needed and didn’t get in my way. The food was great. I ordered peach topped buttermilk pancakes. Which remind me of peach cobbler as far as taste. It is really good with the syrup on it too… Oh and lets not forget the whipped cream that was on it… Yum yum yum… I also had turkey bacon and orange juice. The turkey bacon, while it isnt the prettiest looking meat it still tasted good anyway. Best part of breakfast here is its reasonably priced!

I’m not a Cracker Barrel fan per se – I probably prefer Silver Diner, IHOP or even Waffle house for similar breakfast fare — but it’ll do in a pinch. And you can find some cute do-dads in the country store. This place is ALWAYS busy. We were told there’d be a 25-minute wait. And there was. Food was okay, nothing special. Great prices. Service was fine. Be advised, you will leave smelling like the kitchen.

Let’s see… where to begin. Went there one morning for breakfast on our way to Busch Gardens, which is an hour away, so we wanted to fortify. When the waiter came to the table, it was clear he was still drunk from the night before(or maybe from that morning… who knows). he took our order… I ordered pancakes, husband got some sort of egg dish, kids also got pancakes. 30 minutes later… no food. «Excuse me waiter, can you check on our order?» «It’ll be right out. I’ll get you more coffee.» Waiter disappears for another 30 minutes. I go to the hostess… «Hi. We’ve been waiting for an hour for our food. Would you mind checking on it? We haven’t seen our waiter for a while.» «Sure, where were you sitting? Okay.» Waiter shows up… she went and found him. «Food will be right out,» he says. I know, I know… you’re thinking why didn’t you just leave? We thought our food would be coming since we now involved the hostess. Nope. No food. I go to the hostess and request to speak with the manager. Manager comes over, and I explain that we’ve been sitting there for over an hour and still no food. «I’ll go check,» he says. He comes back a few minutes later and tells us there’s no order for our table, but if we place our order with him, he’ll make sure the food makes it. By this point, I’m livid but I’m also sitting with two kids who want their freakin’ pancakes and who might cry if I drag them out. Fine. Ordered again. Food comes out and it’s just meh. And you know what happens next? Drunk waiter brings us the check for the full meal… no «the coffee is on us» or «I’ve taken care of your meal». Really?! Won’t. Be. Back. Ever. This was their second chance. The first time I ate there I had hair in my food and same thing… the manager didn’t take it off the bill, even though I didn’t eat ¼ of it. And I didn’t get an apology either time.

Earlier today I went to this particular Cracker Barrel to enjoy a nice breakfast. Boy was I wrong. There is no short story to give today so without further delay, here is my review. The Good: Hospitality– The host and cashiers were very friendly and personable. Service(Bringing out the food) — After placing the order, the food came out within 15 minutes. Everything was hot. The Bad: Service(Everything else) — Maybe I’m too quick to rush to judgement, but it seemed as though my party’s server took one look at my party and said to herself«I know these jokers wont be tipping me so why should I bother giving half decent service». There were so many things wrong with the service. The small table where my party was sitting was not big enough for the number of big plates of food that came out. As a result, some of the unused plates were resting against the wall while we made space for the other plates. Common sense might tell whoever is reading this that someone in my party should have told the server that the four empty plates stacked against the wall needed to be taken away, but the server would have had to have been around to take the plates up. The server literally disappeared for long periods of time. She got my order wrong and neglected to ever ask if I wanted a refill on my drink. This is basic restaurant service 101. The customer should never have to dictate to the server when empty glasses need to be refilled or used plates be taken off the table. In addition to the foolery that has occurred up until that point, she brought the bill out, placed it on the table and walked away without taking any plates out of the way, asking if we wanted dessert or bringing out any take out boxes. In other words… service sucked. Taste– I ordered Pecan Pancakes with«omelet style eggs». The pancakes were extra dry even with the shot of pancake syrup that another server was so kind enough to give me. The«omelet style eggs» were bland at best. I could have gone to Dennys, IHOP or Moore Street Café and gotten a much tastier breakfast for a cheaper price. Overall– If this place were rated on the hospitality of the host and cashiers alone, it would get a five star review. But when service and food quality sucks, I have no other choice but to give it a rating of ONESTAR.

I always get Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral mixed up in my head, but I wanted to try both, and finally got around to trying Cracker Barrel. I really like the country store attached to each location, and find it fun just exploring that even if you don’t eat at the restaurant. There is definitely a saloon-like feel to the restaurant with all of the wood and iron/metal pieces. Our server was also very friendly and took good care of us. The food definitely comes in generous portions and is very reasonably-priced, but the taste of some items are just so-so, while others can be quite tasty! In particular, I remember the cornbread being extremely salty and dry/crumbly. The cream of potato soup was too salty for me as well, although it was piping hot, which I liked. As for sides, the grits were totally flavorless to me. I know you usually eat grits with other things, but even then, it should have at least a little flavor on its own. The gravy for my biscuits and gravy was also too thick, kind of bland, and had a strange minty aftertaste like toothpaste. However, I thought the coleslaw and turnip greens were excellent! The coleslaw wasn’t overly drowned is sauce and the lettuce was crisp, while the turnip greens were cooked with bits of ham and very tasty overall. There wasn’t much to presentation either(think diner), but I guess I wasn’t expecting much. There is a huge menu and breakfast is served all day too, so there are a ton of good old-fashioned country fixin’s to eat. I haven’t given up on Cracker Barrel yet, and will be back to try more of their dishes. I really want to give this place a four, but for now, it’s more like 3.5 stars.

Checking this hot spot! Let me put it this way. I went to the east coast for less than a week, and I went to this place twice: Once for breakfast and once for late supper. The food is ample and delicious! It is also very reasonable in my opinion, as $ 30 fed three hungry bodies. I really wish that there was a Cracker Barrel in California. Cracker Barrel: Do you not realize the goldmine the franchise would be should it make an extended home in Los Angeles? For breakfast I had Uncle Herschel’s Favorite. Lots of food but who can resist grits, gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, apple butter, hashbrown casserole and a grilled pork chop? Easily could have fed two people. The apple butter was great, but my favorite was the hashbrown casserole. I’m not a huge hashbrown fan as I usually prefer homefries, but this was a homerun. The late supper, I got chicken n’ dumplins’. It had to be done. It was delicious with my fried okra(OH I LOVEMESOMEOKRA), greens and it is a huge plate again! Come here for the food, the décor, the souvenirs, and the price.
