Bartels Property Management

This property management took over for another company who was originally managing the house we were renting. First off, when we first moved into the house it was a sh** hole. «New carpets» that were covered in bleach stains. Closet doors that didn’t work, the wrong sliding glass door, broken dishwasher, etc I could go on for days. So they take over and come in to do a walk through on our house, which later on they admit they lost all paperwork/​files. We originally decided to move out when they wanted to raise the rent on us. We put in our 30 day notice in July and beginning of august we were moved out and had deep cleaned the house which they walked through and stated how great of a job we did. We replaced 3 sets of blinds along with fixing the front and back yards. When we got what we thought was our down deposit it was a notice that they expected 800 $+ dollars after the 2500 $ deposit in deductions which included 750 $ in late fees we were never notified of as well as unpaid rent 813 $ from 9÷1−9÷12 and stated we did not put in a notice until ⁸⁄₁₅ (she never entered out notice and assured us this would not be a problem) so when my boyfriend calls the office he is told she is walking out the door (30 mins to close) he told them he would be there in 2 minutes to speak with her and she said «Do not come here» and hung up in his face. These people will take you for everything you have and some. They are a SCAM and they are the worst property management I have EVER delt with. They are never willing to explain anything to you or even listen to anything they are rude and inconsiderate and I hope NO ONE EVER USES THIS PROPERTY MANAGMENT.

I went to turn in an application on a Friday. I was interested in 3 properties. They told me 2 of them were already rented.
That afternoon, I’m on craigslist and they’ve posted the same 3 properties THAT SAME DAY on craigslist. I look at their website and it indeed says 2 of the 3 properties are pending lease, but then why would they list them on craigslist that same day?
A week later, they’ve posted one of the pending apartments on craigslist again.
I can’t say I have a lot of experience dealing with this property management company, but it seems to me they are running a scam to cash in on that $ 35 application fee. There’s even a disclaimer on the application that says something along the lines of «your application has a marginal chance of being looked at.»
If it ends up working out and I get an apartment through Bartels, I will write an update. But they don’t seem very trustworthy, imo.

Do not recommend looking for apartments from them. I applied on apartment to get a call two weeks later that the owner did not choose me. I applied at a 2^nd place and they told me they will call me whether i get the 2^nd apartment or not. 3 weeks later and no call. They want to just get a bunch of application fees.

I purchased an 8-​unit apartment building in Richmond about a year and a half ago and selected Bartels to manage it. They have been great! Lynette has always been very helpful and provided me with good advice when needed. They have 2 friendly employees up front — Sonja and Angelica — who process rental applications, among other things, and Paula, the leasing manager who does a great job in letting tenants know what is expected of them in terms of cleaning during pre-​move out inspections. They have a handyman they send out for routine fixes, to keep costs low when a licensed contractor isn’t needed. And they have sources for low-​cost replacement appliances. I would recommend them to any apartment owners looking for a good management company.

Best experience I ever had. I got a Unilocal account simply so I could let the world know how good they were. I had a tenant from hell, and I mean really from hell, and Lynette was there for me all the way and got them out of the house without it being damaged or requiring an eviction. She always returned calls, made sure the tenant’s problems were addressed, and I now have two other houses they are managing for me. I can finally get some sleep knowing they are taking care of things. If I had better things to say about the I would.

i would like to say this company fraud people for renting the apartment. they put a lot of news of apartments on craiglist and let people visit the apartments. me and my friend both turned in the application last month. each time we asked the manager when we would be available to move in, she would always delayed the time to give us the answer. but she NEVER process the application. the reason why she did not get the work on renting teh apt is because she wanted to get more application (since the application fee is nonrefundable). each person spends 30 dollar, they would just need to get enough applications which is equal to the rent fees. and the apt is still avaible online to attract more people to turn in the applications! what a «SMART» company!!!

The experience with Bartels management is really disappointing!!! Their attitude is so rude and so mean. They took the application and got the non-​refundable application fee from us but they didn’t process the application. They took the money and they won’t give you the house! They were always trying to get more applications and they didn’t process the applications in order, which is really annoying! Also they have all kinds of excuses and they never thought about others’ necessity! Definitely not recommend this!!!

Horrible. If you are the type of person that wants to live in a quiet neighborhood then DO NOT LIVE UNDER THIS MANAGEMENT. They are careless and their apartments are filled with rude Section 8 tenants that do not have proper manners and will play loud music nonstop ²⁴⁄₇. The worst part is that the landlord or the people in the office don’t even care. A MUST STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT PEACE AND QUIET.

I was trying to find a house and they are very unresponsive and very uncooperative. They are running a scam and very rude. They take your money run your credit and will not give you the house you want and will consistently lie to you. They keep you in a loop and take advantage of your necessity to get a house or apartment for rent. The manager is a rude bigot. They say you are 2 or 3 for what ever place you pick. Than that place will still be online. I would not recommend this.

I posted my landlord situation here before as some read. Lynette came through and wrote me a nice letter about my rental history, could see the issues, and made sure the electrical was fixed by a licensed electrician. Most of the issues were with the landlord but that is hopefully over too so we can all move on, be safe, and have good lives. He put the place up for sale and we were given our notice to vacate. I wish him peace and Much Love in his life.

DO NOT try to deal with Bartels Property Management, just to save your time and save your money.

I’ve been living in a Bartel’s managed property for almost a year now and have been very happy. The water heater started smoking in my place the day I started to move in, which was the Saturday of a 3 day weekend, but they were out here within an hour or so to fix it. They have been very responsible about returning maintenance calls, etc. I’ve been extremely happy with them.

This was the first property management company I have ever dealt with and they have been great! I have been living at one of thier properties now for over 2 years. They respond to all of my needs and never take to long to get any repairs done. The staff is very professional and polite. I had almost been scammed by a a person pretending to be a broker and Bartel’s gave me great advice.
