History
Established in 2011.
Anthony’s on the Hill has been filling a void in the Church Hill neighborhood: providing fresh, homemade, Italian-American comfort food. Owner Michael Calogerakis, formerly of the Flour Garden Bakery, has shifted his focus from bread to pizza dough, intent on crafting the best crust this city has to offer. In addition to pizza, Anthony’s has significantly expanded its menu since opening, offering many homemade specialties such as chicken saltimbocca, baked ziti, eggplant parmesan, and our (in)famously delectable meatballs, and the house marinara sauce has turned so many heads that it is now being bottled and sold by the jar. All the food is prepared fresh and in-house on a daily basis with the humblest of intentions: to give the city of Richmond a place to enjoy the comforts of sitting at grandma’s table without bothering grandma.
