Brick Row Apartments

I didn’t live here, but had just went by to check out the place since I was considering moving here, and that experience was enough to convince me to stay away:
When I went in to get a tour of a couple apartments I was interested in, the leasing agent wouldn’t show me the one-​bed floorplan I wanted («it’s not available», even though their website says so.). Instead, she took me to a first-​floor studio facing the dart station; saying I wasn’t interested in that didn’t faze her from selling it up («the price is so great!», «this floorplan is really spacious», yada yada). I was shown a site plan with the room locations — when I asked for a printout for both buildings she replied «that’s not necessary». lol ok…
The next day she made a follow-​up call, trying to sell that studio again. I said again I wasn’t interested in that one, but before I finished she just said «oh…» and hung up.
I figure if the office staff is dismissive and not courteous when they’re trying to get you to lease, they’ll probably be worse if I have an issue with the place, or want to get my deposit back after move-​out. I think reading other reviews confirms this as well.

Dart train is noisy, dog park is dirty, dog owners that don’t clean up after their pet, some leaks during heavy rains

I’m sitting in the living room watching tv when all of a sudden I hear someone trying to break into my apartments. I jumped right up out of fear. I didn’t know what to do. After it stopped I went up to the door to look through the peep hole and saw no one there. Right away I called the office and at this point I’m crying and shaking hysterically. The First Lady I spoke to seemed worried as she asked to put me on hold. The next lady named Amanda got on the line and said oh don’t worry we had someone come up there just now to give u a lease violation. is that how the staff of this apartment work? By trying to barge into my apartments? Without knocking or anything? Just banging on the door trying to get in? At this point I am freaking out because this is no way to deliver anything to anybody. Then I go to the door to look for the lease violation that they tried to deliver and nothing was there. I’m freaking out! What’s really going on! At this point I start to raise my voice at Amanda and I start telling her that this is all bullshit! Does she think this is a fucking joke. That’s when she flips out because I’m cussing and then hangs up on me. I called the office back to ask for a managers number or landlord or somebody. She picked up the phone and answered YES??? I said umm I need someone else to speak to. And she said don’t worry about that I’ve already contacted my manager and hung up on me again! I call my husband who was at work at the time and told him what was going on and still crying hysterically so he leaves work right away. He stops by the front office and long story short it wasn’t anyone tying to deliver a violation. This place is not safe to live at, and if u feel unsafe you’ll only get yelled at by the staff. I let them know that I was going to file a police report for safety precautions and for some reason they tried to deflect that whole idea and talk me out of it. Idk why? Maybe to cover their butts? They said maybe it was a neighbor going into a wrong apartment so don’t call the police? Sounds sketchy doesn’t it? Because it is. Don’t live here anyone!!!

My husband and I lived at Brick Row for a year and absolutely loved it. It was quiet and was a perfect location. We highly recommend Brick Row!

The office never answers their telephone. It always goes to voice-​mail. When you walk in the office you’re not acknowledged and your made to feel like a nuisance. I don’t recommend that you live there.

This apartment complex is the worst place ever. It’s time for me to renew my lease, and due to my long work hours I have been unable to make it in, talked to the manager about coming in on Saturday morning to sign it. I come home and see an eviction notice on the inside of my door. I’ve given this place three years of my loyalty never been late on my rent and referred family and friends to move here. It blows my mind how they are so rude and disrespectful and don’t have their stuff together. This is the last time my lease will be renewed due to not having time to find another place. I do not recommend anyone to move here, rent went up $ 200 and they are shady people, and treat you so badly.

Do not move in or deal with them. They stole all my deposit. Every year they will increase the rent about $ 200 with hidden fees.

It’s one thing to be busy and have a popular place because of location and upgrades, it’s another to just out right have terrible customer service. My partner and I were excited to secure a unit here after being assured of the look & lease special in addition to a rental rate, only to be told completely different pricing and have four people play phone tag with us over the course of two days (clearly effecting the price, we understand– but the honor system counts for A LOT ya know!) I see issues pending with this property if the lack of attention to detail persists, as I have a real estate background it’ll be interesting to see how the place «matures» over the years. Good luck with your attitudes and lack of professionalism. We clearly dodged a bullet here and happily take our business where it’s appreciated.

Very disappointed with the apartments and the service. The walls are paper thin and the neighbors are extremely loud. The service was okay until we left. We received an email from the Assistant Manager Lindsey telling us we owed a balance and we had 3 days to pay before it was sent to collections. It was the first time we heard that we owed a balance and to only have 3 days to pay was ridiculous. I emailed her back twice asking how we should pay and she never responded.

I ve only lived here a month but I gotta give this place 4 and a half stars. Only reason its not 5 is because my window faces the train station and the sound of it definitely takes some getting used to especially since the windows are not sound proof. But I am a light sleeper and only hear it early AM.
In the past this apartment complex may have had problems with rude or discurteous staff or unkempt apartments but they have taken steps to change that. The leasing staff have been nothing but helpful. When I called in a maintenance request they responded the very next day. When I moved in the apartment was clean and updated with new carpet and black aplliences. The best part is the sense of community. All the employees including the people working at the 7 – 11 across the street have been curteous and polite. Not saying this will be everyone’s experience but it has been mine.

The leasing staff has always been super helpful and very professional. The apartments are beautiful and have a lot of nice amenities. The parking garage always has plenty of space and any maintenance issues have been taken care of right away.

I moved to the complex from Kansas in May 2014 in perfect health. Over the course of 8 months living in Dallas, myself, and my two dogs, began to have serious health problems. Problems that required hundreds of dollars in vet bills and diagnostic medical care. In January 2015, mold was discovered growing behind the walls in the apartment. I had the mold tested and it tested positive for Stacybotrys, aka toxic black mold. One of the walls infected with the mold was a wall with a vent. I had to be tested for mold mycotoxins and my results came back 15x the positive amount. I informed the apartment complex that, due to the toxicity of the mold, I wasn’t comfortable living there. I even have a Doctors note from the Environmental Health Center that it’s not safe for me to live there and that I was being treated for a slew of medical problems that may be related to the mold, yet Brick Roe attorneys told my attorney that the doctor’s note didn’t make a difference in their decision. To get out of my lease, they require me to sign a Release that would release them of my personal injury (including my medical bills). I have since rented another place to live and 95% of my health problems, and my dogs problems, have gone away.
Additionally, the dog area isn’t well kept by the dog owners and it gets very muddy with standing water any time there’s precipitation. At times, this makes the dog area smell terrible. Also, there isn’t much grass for the dogs. Also, due to the standing water there was always an abundance of mosquitoes back there. At one point I had so many bites that my boyfriend had to send me a special mosquito repellent from Cabela’s that you would normally wear hunting or camping.

This place is pretty overpriced for the quality of service you receive from the staff as well as all of the people that pretty much work here. I paid about $ 800 – 900 for an a studio apartment, which was not that big. In addition, I moved from a different city and didn’t have a chance to actually see the apartment before moving in. I only had the chance to look at pictures of the floor plan and signed for the apartment through email.
When I arrived at my apartment, it was a completely different floorplan, and I was pretty upset. I called the guy I had been working with in the lease office who said that the floorplan pictures are approximate, which does not even make sense.
Upon moving out, it took me 2 – 3 months and a couple of strong worded emails and phone calls to receive my deposit back. This place needs to get it together. The apartments are okay, but the staff here is just absolutely awful. They are so rude and incompetent. Save your money and go somewhere else. It is close to the dart station, which is primarily why I lived here, but save your money and look at other apartments.

These apartments are way overpriced. I paid 1300 for a small one bed one bath. They try to be a luxery apartment but their service is terrible. No one in the office has a clue. I went to the office for assistance multiple times and never left with a good experience. When I moved out they tried to charge me to replace the carpet. When you live on cheap carpet for a year it does become worn. They don’t understand that. They know most people will break down and pay it so they try to screw you. Not to mention there always seemed to be shady business going on at the back of the complex. Your better off finding a more reasonalvly priced apartment with better service.

Clean apartments, I lived in both phases and only had to ride the Dart to work. This was in 2012. Since then they have added a 711 across the street, but for the most part you are paying to be close to Dallas but at the same time getting value for being 15 minutes away. Not the greatest area however the inside of the apartment makes up for it.

I have been living at Brick Row since Sept. 2012 and I WON’T be renewing my lease. As a matter of fact, i won’t even be finishing my lease. My one bedroom apartment is really nice. The fixtures, appliances, and layout are all modern and nice to look at. I live on the fourth floor so I don’t usually have any problems with noise. I also live near the trash chute so that has been pretty convenient. My apartment was very clean when I moved in and I have never had any problems with bugs which are all positive things.
My main area of concern is not with the physical building or even my neighbors. It is with the staff, their lack of knowledge, and their tendency to solve problems in a very slow and reactive manner. I have had major issues with my utility (water) billing since January of 2013. Since that time, I have noticed that my bill has increased while my living habits have remained the same (shower once a day + laundry a few times a week). My bill went from about $ 30 to $ 199. Each month, I contact the main office and attempt to find a resolution to the problem. I have even called the water company, had maintenance look for leaks, and contacted a regional manager but the issue has still not been corrected. In May, I was home when the maintenance man discovered that my water meter had been crossed with the meter from the apartment next door. Seems this mixup happened during construction about 4 years ago. In June, I spoke to the property manager about this and she promised me a refund bc I had been paying someone else’s water bill since I moved in. In July when I received another incorrect bill and I noticed that the refund had not been applied to my account, I contacted the front office again. Conveniently enough, the property manager no longer worked there and it was as though the conversations I had had with her never happened. It is August and I am still receiving incorrect bills. My latest water bill was $ 82. When I call the manager she gives me a random amount to pay without showing me an actual bill. I asked her for a copy of the bill and she sends me one with the apartment number crossed off. Seriously?
I am very disappointed in the amount of time it takes for the staff at this apartment complex to resolve a problem. If you are they type of person who just pays your bills without looking closely at them or questioning them then this might be ok choice for you. I, however, am now very suspicious of the staff here. Not sure if they would benefit from ripping people off or maybe they just don’t care. Either way, it is not a place that deserves any more of my money.
