Upon further review, their fountain soda is still terrific. Proper blend of syrup and carbonation.

I always drove by this place and never ventured inside. Until last night when I was starving — and showed my newbie status by asking the difference between the junior beef, basic beef, and super beef sandwiches. I forget his response but he did say the basic had a sesame roll. Ok. I ordered that with lettuce and tomato, no mayo.(I’ve never understood people who eat beef with mayo, I mean, do they spread mayo on steak?) Also ordered a small side of fries. The fries were tasty, hit the spot. Fried and salty and skinny. But I was also starved. The sandwich had pink beef. How pink I can’t tell you because half the lights suddenly turned off and I was too tired to bother asking what happened. I’ll come back during the day when I’m less tired and more sober!

I went years living near this and never trying it until I didnt want to travel too far one late night, and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve tried it a couple times more and I can say that it’s pretty good food, but there isnt always consistency, the prices aren’t bad either. They even have a variety of different things to choose from if you’re not big on roast beef sandwiches. It’s not one of those places that you take someone you want to impress to, but it’s nice enough for you and friends.

I think maybe I need to learn more about the New England roast beef sandwich. I was hoping for something more like an Italian Beef from Chicago or a French Dip — some sauce or something else to give the sandwich some drip. What I got was a nice onion roll, good veggies(needs more sauce), and roast beef that really was tender as well as nicely rare. The fries were solid, and it was still a good meal deal. It just wasn’t the divey deliciousness I’d hoped for from all these 5-star reviews.

This place has the best roast beef I have ever had. If Kelly’s invented sliced roast beef, then Bill and Bob’s perfected it. The roast beef at Bill and Bob’s is so rare just the sight of it will make your mouth water. It is not bloody rare, which is good thing, but satisfactorily rare. It is absolutely amazing. The junior beef is 4 dollars and the prices go up reasonable as you go up in size. And the onion rolls are fantastic. I have no complaints about the sandwhich at all from the quality of the meat, to the cheese, to the mayo, to the bun. Everything is perfect. No need for salt on this sandwhich. I ordered an additional sandwhich for the road. The service was very quick. Finally, It is a perfect location too just off route 1 next to Kappy’s Liquors.

Dont be fooled by the location! And dont be fooled by the negative reviews that say the beef is to rare. Its perfect! It MELTS in your mouth. This is what the best roast beef sandwiches should be!!!

The photo from Jack K. tells it all. I soooo wish I could say something nice about this place, cuz I love to try new dives for the first time, especially if they’re not cookie-cutter national chains. The location DEFINITELY qualifies as divey. About as divey as it gets. That would have started it as a full 5-stars. From there, the guy at the counter took away 2 full stars. Mr. Personality! Then we come down to the sandwich itself. My stomach screamed for it to be awesome. Instead my first impression was the cow’s stomach screaming as they tore it out raw and threw it on my sandwich. I can stand a «little pink» though I would rather not. But DUDE this meat was RAW… I couldn’t get passed that and don’t have the motivation to rate it on price or service or location or anything. I am NOT putting raw meat into my stomach and calling it good, or even acceptable. Raw meat has absolutely no flavor and is best equated to pulling the fat off of raw bacon and stuffing it into your mouth.

This place is awesome! I agree it doesn’t have major curb appeal but there is nothing more delicious than a roast beef 3way, extra sauce at 2⁄3 in the morning… their hours are great for the weekends and as someone noted below, definitely gives a opportunity to people watch. Since its one of the only quality places open on rt 1 that late it gets pretty busy and you never know who you’ll run into. I’ve tried every roast beef restaurant in revere and b&b’s may be the best if not a close second with Pete’s super beef near Shirley ave. I currently live on the south shore and when I have bring someone to revere I try to share the north shore roast beef experience. If you’re looking for a big, messy, sloppy taste of heaven, undoubtedly give bill and bob’s a try!

Not impressed. Okay fine, it’s cool that the place is basically inside a liquor store. The bars on the windows could be seen as «adding character» too. But look, when I go to a food place, I’m there to eat food — so no amount of liquor store presence(unless I’m already drunk) or intrigue based on window bars is going to make me a happy customer if the food isn’t good. I got a small beef combo — small sandwich, fries, small drink. Fine, I ordered a small sandwich, but I do expect an appropriate amount of roast beef on the small bun so that my lunch doesn’t consist primarily of bread. Amount of beef was minimal — very very minimal. What was probably more disappointing was the lack of taste in the small amount of extremely rare meat they did deign to put on the bun. I even got bbq sauce on it(a little spicy, but I’m a wimp with hot/spicy so the average person probably wouldn’t notice that), and there was still a noticeable lack of taste. Environment — lame. Not up to par with any of the other tacky places I’ve been. Kinda felt like I needed a shower when I left and also walked out expecting rebellion from my stomach(which thankfully never came). Final word — If you’re on Rt 1 and want roast beef, you’re better off going to Kelly’s.

I’ve driven by there a lot. Decided to try them today because of the reviews. Before I get further in the review I want to note this was my first roast beef sandwich in New England. I don’t know if extremely rare is the style. I would have taken it back if I hadn’t taken it to go. Also, you don’t get a lot for the money. The only combo they offered was for their small beef. I had ‘big beef’ and small fry which came to almost $ 8. At least the fries were good.

I love Bill and Bob’s…1st time at this location. This location is clean, had seating and also parking. Portions are big and prices are perfect. Can’t go wrong with a junior beef special for $ 6 and some change. Junior roast beef sandwich with your choice of toppings and a «small» fry and small fountain drink. The«small» fry is a big plate of shoestring fries and are little bites of crunchy goodness! I will be back when I am in the mood to enjoy some melt-in-your mouth beef!

By far the worst of the Bills and Bobses that I’ve been to. They don’t have shakes, and they take longer than the other Bills and Bobses do. That being said, they don’t suck or anything. It’s still beefy, cheesey, saucy, goodness. Close proximity to Kappy’s raises their score as well. 3 stars

I’ve known about Bill & Bob’s Roast Beef for years. Stopping at many of them for lunch or dinner. This is my first time to this one. With Riley’s Roast Beef in Chelsea no longer around, this will be my shaved roast beef place. Their sandwiches are excellent and they know how to do pizza rolls. Prices are reasonable. The one I had? King Beef with sauce and cheese. Excellent! Must have been close to 10 oz of shaved roast beef with a tangy sauce and american cheese. Nice to see they didn’t skimp. Will be back soon!

Didn’t really understand the North Shore roast beef hype until I tried this place. I have some funny memories set in Kelly’s, but in the sober light of day I’ve come to realize the roast beef there is bland. B&B’s meat is more flavorful and the sauce spicier.
