Antonia’s At The Beach Restaurant & Bar

Nice location by the beach, short walk from the T. Normally have gone on a weeknight and is pretty quiet. Some of the clientele can be a little peculiar. Last time my dining companion and I were stared at through our whole dinner by a salty dog character at the bar.
Really good standard Italian food. Fun drink menu. Would definitely come back.

How do you screw up a restaurant in a prime beach location? Just ask Antonia’s.
This place could be such a great spot/​gold mine, and they haven’t the slightest clue how to achieve that. An On The Beach! restaurant that is surrounded by beach goers in the summer months and plenty of locals to keep them afloat in the off months, and it takes this for granted.
The one thing that is consistent, is the stale mediocre menu, that accompanies the weak overpriced drinks. This would be a good start. Switch it up once in a while.
The revolving door of bartenders and other staff seems to be a common complaint among all patrons and here on Unilocal.Hire Good, knowledgeable, English speaking staff and KEEP them!

Had a wonderful holiday dinner at Antonia’s on a balmy Christmas Day. We made online reservations and were seated within minutes at a window table overlooking the ocean boulevard. Meal began with a basket of warm bread and olive oil/​hummus dip. The regular menu was supplemented by a special holiday menu. Ordered the special– braised short ribs with gnocchi topped with fried onions and the fried haddock with panko crust/​salad greens/​roasted potatoes from the regular menu. Both dishes were beautifully presented, flavorful, and large portions. Finished with a shared dessert of molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream & strawberry sauce. Warm service, good food, and reasonable prices make this place a little gem in Revere Beach. Thank you Antonia’s for making this Christmas a very warm and merry day!

What a nice surprise! We impulsively stopped here for dinner and drinks while out on a casual evening bike ride. We are sometimes hesitant to try somewhere new since we are both gluten intolerant. We were pleased to find that they offered a GF pasta option on most of their dishes! They warned of a 20 minute wait on all GF pasta due to the fact they make it to order. We were happy to wait, but it ended up being less than 20 minutes anyways! Food was amazing and the portions were generous. We were waited on by several servers throughout our visit which can sometimes be deemed disorganized, but in this case, it was more like they all work together on a team. We felt very well taken care of and everyone that assisted us was friendly and attentive. We will definitely add this restaurant to our list! Thanks for a great night!

I founded this restaurant in bostonUS home page three months ago. I have been there with my family four times already and the food is amazing, we love the home made bread they bake every day. Food prices are very reasonable and the service is great they make us feel special. My family and I love this restaurant, we are definitely going to go back to try the brunch buffet they have on sundays.

Excellent service by bartender Brooklyn! Great recommendation for the steak tips. Beyond that I added some fresh pasta in the side which was also very good. Nice big bar and good musical ambiance.

First time at Antonia’s — what a nice surprise. The bartender Brooklyn was top notch — food great.
Had the chicken piccata — delicious! Locally sourced and fresh as fresh can be. Highly recommend.

Been going here for a couple of weeks now. Bartender asked me if I cook. I took it personally I wish all the bartenders were as nice as brooklyn. She has a nice disposition. Some of the bartenders here are over serving the patrons at the bar and causing a scene. Don’t think I will be coming here for even a drink

Horrible service here. I am a server in the restaurant business (fortune 100 company). I was neglected by our server. Do not recommend this place.

Quite average food. Somewhat inattentive service — example: one bartender to tend a 25 seat bar. Essentially a two person kitchen that becomes easily overwhelmed — be prepared to wait. Varnish on the bar top is shedding and comes off on clothing.
All in all I’d say find another spot. Too bad, because the beach location is sweet.

If I could give them 0 star, I would. Service here is horrible and disconnected. I don’t understand how this place can still be up and running with the staffs. The hostess seat two gentlemen down and 5 mins later, the same hostess (there is only one) seat another woman to the same table, smh while I observed them.
Also, we got up to get food, the server cleaned our table and reset for new customer. We were in the middle of our meal and didn’t even pay yet.
I don’t know how this restaurant is open and where is the owner or manager?!

Sam was an excellent waitress and was very attentive when dealing with us. She was extremely helpful and friendly and an absolute recommendation! The food was also fantastic! Very fresh and cooked perfectly.

not sure why so many bad reviews. I have been the last few Sundays and had a great experience. it’s always busy. the brunch is incredible and the bartender girl is excellent

Just want people to know. If you are looking at this place online, the menu is different than what is in the actual place. On the website they price their foods anywhere fro 1 – 4 dollars cheaper than is on the actual menu. IE, false advertising. Also the waiter came up to us and started to speak to the whole family in Spanish, we don’t speak a lick of Spanish. And if the place is Italian, with an English menu, I’d appreciate speaking English.

So slow! Losing my beach time! I came here at the bar to order and take out during lunch time. Been there for 45 mins. Back to beach and opened the dog bag. Fries were soggy already and undercooked after 5 mins. Otherwise use the different dog bag for keeping fries crispy.

I took my dad to celebrate Father’s Day! I got there because my girlfriend recommend this restaurant! I really have to say that we had great time! I understand that was super busy, but my waitress was absolute wonderful! She was on top at every time, so attempt and always smiling !! The food was great! I promise my dad to come back to try the other dishes! Thank you guys again!

Owner: if you are going to take the time to respond to my facts and truth you should do the same for all your customers. Let me respond to your post. I do have respect. I respect your staff and I mention that in my review. I did not come drunk into your kitchen so you are mistaken sir. I never been into your kitchen. With that said you should not be serving customers so that they are or become drunk, shame on you for allowing your customers to be drunk on your licensed premises. That would probably be the result of lack of having a manager on the front of the house lack of training.
Your response has no substance and makes no sense in my whole review all I do is praise your staff. They were doing a great job managing themselves with what resources they had. They were severely stressed and without oversight or management. This is my compliant. not against your staff.
We requested a manager we were told there was NO MANAGER. We wasted 2 hours and still walked away without food or an apology. All we wanted was some respect and for you to step out and speak with us apologize for the wait, for the cold food. Not even that. all we wanted was to eat a nice hot meal and enjoy dinner with our mom for mothers day. I really think your restaurant would benefit from a front end manager so you can focus on what you do best. Cook. Be responsive to your guests and most importantly your staff. You can’t go wrong with good old customer service especially in this business. Thank you.

5÷14÷2015 May be you need to learn first how to respect people if you want to be respected. You came drunk into the kitchen that day, swearing and insulting me and my kitchen crew. We definitely respect our guest and if there is something wrong, our culture is that the guest is always right, but when there is someone like you acting with disrespect against the staff, we rather lose that customer.

Don’t even know why this place got «not so good reviews»! The food is out of this world and the staff is super friendly! Will definitely be back!!!

Sad to say but the 2 – 3 star reviews are very accurate… My girlfriend lives within walking distance from Antonia’s, but we’ve only been for food a couple times.
The first time we ordered take-​out, I called and asked for two Grilled Chicken Caesar salads. Plural. When I showed up, there was only in the bag. Singular. So they had to go cook another chicken breast. The salads were good though.
We just got back from lunch and they messed up one of our orders again. I think it was a simple mistake (got the wrong panini — but it was still within the panini family); but they did handle it well — they let Kristina take-​home the right panini. She also said her beer was skunked.
The rest of our orders were good. I had a bacon cheeseburger with barbecue sauce and onion rings and felt it was a really good burger for only $ 12. It was cooked perfectly, really flavorful, with a hearty bun that didn’t disintegrate. I’ll probably just stick with that. Lauren had the fried fish sandwich which also looked really good. It was a huge piece of fish with a nice light batter and tartar sauce on the side. Both of the girls’ sandwiches were under $ 10.
The ambience was a little meh. The AC wasn’t on so it was a little uncomfortable. It was completely dead, which was odd at 1pm on a weekend. Truthfully, every time I’ve come it’s been almost empty. The background music was almost on mute, so we felt like we were in a library.
End of the day, you can go here and get a decent meal and a beer for under $ 20 and be on your way. I think the only immediate improvements I can suggest are related to the staff. Repeat business is so important for a restaurant, and the staff needs to focus on getting orders right the first time to ensure customers want to come back.
EDIT: I received a very nice message from the owner. It’s good to know they do read these reviews and take the feedback seriously. I’ll be sure to update this review the next time we go.

I used to love this place! After tonight I’ll never go back.
The bartender didn’t acknowledge us for a good 10 minutes — finally she took our order and 30 minutes later told me they ran out of what I ordered. I’ve been bartending for a long time so let it go– but then I noticed she was talking to us with a napkin wrapped around her hand covered in BLOOD. Another patron asked her about it and she rolled her eyes. She proceeded to wait on people, make drinks, and deliver plates with the bloody hand napkin.
My flat bread came out– and it wasn’t cooked. I asked her to have the kitchen throw it back in the oven– and I watched her take the pizza in the back and PICK IT UP with her bloody napkin hand to show the chefs it was not cooked. Needless to say I didn’t eat the pizza.
I am sooooooo grossed out!!!
