HL Caples

I was a little surprised when I stumbled on Caples reviews. They had done some work for me a couple of months ago and I had no problems. I got a few estimates, their price was in line, and The work was done in a timely manner. The inconvenience to the building’s tenants was minimal. They will certainly be included in any other bidsfor future jobs.

A horrible Company you should NOT do business with. I am happy to discuss this further with anyone (310−559−0800). They quoted me a price of $ 750 for rsome work which seemed fair, but when another Company quoted me $ 550 for the same work I send them the less expensive quote and ask why the discrepancy? Tom was defensive but eventually I dragged out of him that they are a smaller company, would do a better job, but that the bigger Company could just do it for less. I told him I understood and that they should come and do the job. That’s right… although they didn’t come down in price I agreed to use them. When they didn’t show up after ½ hour I emailed Tom, and when an hour went buy I called him. He sheepishly told me (he is obviously use to making excuses for the company) his boss had cancelled the job. And that is why this company does not deserve your or anyone else’s business. Not only were they over-​priced, but because the owner of the company decided to vindictively cancel the job and keep me waiting because I dared question why he was charging more… even after I agreed to pay it.

The work took to long. we received change of orders to pay without knowing why and how. The communication was weak and full of wrong information. Hard to deal with. On the other side the price was good and better then many vendors that I worked with.

After using this company several times and having some issues that they did eventually work out, I called them once again to do some flatwork for me. Tom, their newer person to coordinate and do estimates, made an appointment with me and never showed up. I called again and was told he would be there in an hour or so. Again, never showed up. What’s worse? Glad you asked. I called a few times because at this point I had been sitting there waiting all day, I really wanted the estimate done right away. Not only did he NOT answer the phone when he was supposed to be at my home to do the estimate, he never called back either. So none of my three messages were returned. I then called the owner, Harry, who also didn’t bother to return my call.
At this point, I will take my business elsewhere. Sadly for them, I do a great deal of flatwork as a professional designer. Having a licensed company act in this manner is pretty pathetic.
Oh well, time to find a new company, I guess.
