Ok, I am not a type of person who writes reviews and I have never done so on Unilocal before. But, I had to write one for this business.
I’ve been coming to this shop for oil change and brakes for more than 10 years. They offer cheap, quick, and descent oil change service for $ 20. And they also do quick inspections on your brakes and tires while doing that. They even change little parts for free if you bring them the parts such as light bulbs or wiper blades (which is really good if you have elder parents who do not know how to change them by themselves).
On 1÷12÷16, I went to this shop for my usual oil change for my 07 Toyota Highlander. Everything went as expected and the owner and its only employer came up to me and told me my engine mounts are broken and need to be replaced. Ok, I understand cars with high mileages get wear and tear easily so if they need to be fixed, I fix them, sure thing. So I ask them to show me where the problem was and they said the problem is where is not visible because the mounts are under the engine and said they need to change all 4 mounts. I asked them how much and they said $ 850 and I have to leave the car whole day. Obviously $ 850 is a lot of money so I said I will come back. And, I went to 3 different shops nearby on Reseda Blvd and the 3 different shops ALL came up with amount of $ 120 per mount including labor! And, they all directly showed my where the problem was and it was where it was clearly visible, not under the engine! Also, I only need to replace one mount, not 4! Even if I replace all 4 mounts, it would come out $ 480 which is A LOT less than $ 850.
Can’t believe I’ve been coming to this shop for more than 10 years. I really hope nobody else gets ripped off going here. Spend couple more bucks for oil change at other location. Stay away from this business. And, if the owner of the business is reading this, please do not mess with customers and get your shit together.

The only tip I have is NEVER use this mechanic! Charlie the owner of this auto shop attempted to charge me $ 600 to replace the fuel pump in my wife’s car. After obtaining several quotes from five other shops in the Reseda area (all of which were under $ 400) I brought this to Charlie’s attention, and asked him WHY he was charging me $ 600 when the other shops in the immediate area quoted me much lower prices. He had no good explanation whatsoever. He even went as far as calling one of the other shops to verify the quote I received which was $ 366. Charlie then only dropped the price to $ 500. I asked for a copy of the receipt for the parts as I wanted to see if he was indeed being honest in the price he gave me for the fuel pump assembly, and he said he didn’t have it but would get it and call me so I could come and pick it up. That was four days ago and I still haven’t heard from the man. Needless to say my wife and I were clearly taken advantage of. The reason I took my wife’s car to him in the first place is due to the reviews and five star rating I saw here on Unilocal.So don’t be fooled folks. If your in need of good quality work at a reasonable and HONEST price don’t bring your vehicle to this shop cause they are full of crap and will take advantage of you!!!

I wish I could give this place a POSITIVE review, but my expierience here was just terrible! My car broke down as I was on my way to work About a week ago .My husband went ahead and found this mechanic on Unilocal since we just moved to the valley and hadn’t gotten established with a good mechanic yet… He went and reccomended I get my car towed here since the reviews were great. Well, boy was this place a nightmare. Charlie estimated my services of changing my fuel pump to my 2002 Chrysler pt cruiser was gonna be about $ 600. I was like WHAT?! Well nonetheless, I didn’t know what else I could do since I already had my car towed to the shop, it needed to get fixed so I went ahead and asked charlie if i could leave my car there while i discussed it with my husband and figured out what we were gonna do. he said yea and that it was fine. I didn’t have $ 600 and Charlie knew this and because I didn’t have all the money on hand at that moment he said it was gonna take atleast 2 days for him to get to my car… So that afternoon my husband began calling around to other mechanics in the area and got several quotes as to what they would charge for the same service and we got a quote as low as $ 380 to get my fuel pump replaced and my car repaired (this included labor charges to be $ 180– remaining amount was the cost of the part) so upon realizing Charlie was clearly overcharging us. Charlie told my husband they had already started working on our car! What??? Weren’t they gonna get to it in a few days ?? So then then my husband proceeded to explain to Charlie that we had done some shopping around on quotes and that we had gotten, and we were hoping that Charlie would’ve offered to price match his competition. Charlie even called the other shops to verify they have us these prices for the same services. And no… He made it very clear he was not willing to work with us on giving us a price closer to his competitions price for the same exact service. I felt like we had no other option… on top of that… My husband asked to see the reciept for the fuel pump kit that Charlie said he paid over $ 350 for and he all of a sudden said he didn’t have it and would need to call the manufacturer to get the reciept. What?! That doesn’t even make sense … He wouldnt show us the reciept proving the price of the part was what he said it was .and still days later has failed to provide us with a reciept. Making me think he just made up whatever price he wanted. To top it off I felt very taken advantage of. Do NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. Oh yeah, and NOW MY HORN DOESNT WORK!. it was working justfine when i took my car in to get fixed. and now… it doesnt work… safety hazard. i called the shop and told the mechanic there about my horn problem, he knew exactly who i was and told me to bring it in, i am reluctant to take my car bck there… and then what… har something else be wrong with it? This is exactly WHY i hate trying to find a new mechanic… they always seem to be trying to find any way to rip you off, repair something and purposly break something else so you have to take the car back and pump more money into it… and then take advantage of you … so sad. like i said i really wished i couldve had an expierienxe here like everyone else… one that deserved a 5 star positive review… but i was extremely dissapointed with this shop. Moral of the story… You will get ripped off… And pay twice as much or triple as much as you would pay at the competitors shop nearby. I will never ever be back again to this place. EVER! Unless u wanna get screwed out of your time, money and piece of mind… DONT Come to this crappy mechanic. IT’S MECHANICS LIKE THIS THAT MAKE PEOPLE SCARED OF TAKING THEIR CARS IN … In fear that a nightmare like this will happen to them. Stay away from this place. There’s plenty of competent and way more affordable mechanics in the area … So lesson learned and I will be continuing my search to find that swell mechanic my family and I needs. Looks like I will be looking to friends, clients, or my neighbors for a reputable mechanic reccomend action instead of using Unilocal… Sadly this place did not live up to the awesome reviews they previously have gotten. I’m convinced those positive reviews were posted by their family, and (or) friends. So yea… Stay away from this crap shoot. And WOMEN beware!!!– if I didn’t have my husband go in and talk to these guys I’m sure I would’ve gotten ripped off even more… This place is the typical «try to rip off a woman mechanic … We still have yet to get that reciept from CHARLIE proving the price of the part he claimed to run over $ 350. :(

THis is the first and last place my car goes to… they are the most reliable mechanics! I’ve been in Cali for 13 yrs and all my cars have been serviced through them… I would chose then over «dealerships» any day! they are very honest and reliable. They are very reasonably priced and accommodating! Love that Javier and Charlie always knows what’s wrong with my car, it’s a one stop shop!

cheap, fast, and quality oil changes.
I’ve been coming here since high school and even while I was in college in santa barbara, I made the drive to come here. They don’t try to upsell you and they don’t tell you that you need to buy a billion dollars worth of car things that you don’t need.
I went to Firestone because I heard something rattling everytime I drove… They told me that I needed to buy all these things because of blah blah blah. My mom told me to go to Ace for a second opinion and they drove my car around for a bit. took out a tire and lo and behold a loose screw fell out.
they know what they’re doing.

I have been taking my cars here for over 20 years. CHARLIE is the owner/​mechanic and his assistant. I can’t remember his name do a thourough job and charge a fair price on all jobs. I’ve priced several places and they do not come close to the price and service offered! Located in a shopping center next to a car audio and muffler shop «ACE AUTO TUNING». Oil change while you wait… Can’t beat it! Come early for best service.
