Business Owner

The company was founded by Darren McBride, as «Sierra Computer Control» in 1982, pioneering work in the field of English/​Arabic computing for various Middle Eastern governments.

In 1987 as Sierra Computers, the company shifted focus to the resale of computer equipment and technical services for the business community. Soon the operation moved to a larger location at 460 California Street, near downtown Reno. As the computer industry evolved, so did Sierra, adding network technology, servers and a whole range of new business solutions.

In 2001 Sierra Computers and Training bought the assets of MicroAge Reno, a long time competitor, combining the best of two of the oldest and largest computer resellers in Northern Nevada. Rod Coleman, General Manager of MicroAge joined Sierra at that time and continues in the same position for Sierra Computer Group.

Over the years, Sierra Computer Group has evolved a standard for simply, «Making IT Work».
