David’s application process is somewhat lengthy, but it serves a good purpose. After completing it and meeting with David and his «dog pack» and my dog, I was confident that my dog would be in a safe and secure environment while I was away. It is evident that David is patient, compassionate, and is experienced working with dogs. The peace of mind I had leaving my dog with him is priceless in comparison to the other boarding facilities and intrusive dog walkers I was previously looking into. David is highly recommended.

I highly recommend David. When we leave our dog with David my mind is at ease and I feel relaxed and not stressed. He is very sensitive to the needs of dogs. He sent pictures of the daily activities while we were away for 11 days, which was the longest we have ever left him. We could tell from pictures that he was happy and well taken care of.

We have used RenoTahoe Dogs three times now for our mature dog. She always comes back happy, clean and while excited to see me, also happy to be with David when I drop her off. I prefer the stay at home option — much like her normal day to day at home. David is always very easy to reach and work with and will send updates and pictures!

I’m stoked to have found RenoTahoeDogs. It’s close to my house and David has watched my lab multiple times (one stay was for 4 nights). I like the fact he deals with a smaller number of dogs at his own residence and is selective as far as the breeds he boards. He also emails pictures of your dog when you are away. My girlfriend loves that. I also like the fact my dog gets walked every day as he needs it badly. He seems like a true animal lover as he has two nice rescue dogs of his own. I used to board my lab at Fantasia but their service was questionable and I had heard some rumors. My dog also came home from Fantasia with a chemical burn on his testicles, kennel cough (not really their fault) and scratches on different occasions. There’s just way too many dogs at some of these other places and they don’t always cater to your requests even though they say they will. I know my lab is much happier after an overnight or daycare stay with David.

We recently met David and after the phone conversations, meet and greet, and the Unilocal reviews, we decided to have our Golden Doodle stay with him while we were out of town.
Our experience with David was top notch. His communication, and follow up which are important to us, was terrific. Most important… our dog was well taken care of and returned happy, with no issues. (Not like previous experiences at some area kennels.)
We can now plan some trips and not worry about what to do with our Doodle as we know David will be there and Ollie will be happy and well cared for in his care.

As a small business owner, I understand the importance of communication. David knocks that one out of the park. Texts, emails and phone calls were all answered promptly. During my dog’s stay, David provided updates with photos. After I picked my Lhasa, David followed up with me the next day to see how she had re-​adjusted. That’s some serious customer service, which sticks out, since rarely do I encounter that anymore.
David had a calm demeanor and a gentle approach with my dog. I felt very comfortable leaving her in his care. When we picked her up, she seemed very calm and relaxed. This was a far cry from her previous stay at a local kennel, where she was obviously anxious and smelled like urine when I picked her up. The difference was night and day.
Unfortunately we were delayed coming home, and David was able to accommodate us on the fly. Because of a sudden onset of stomach flu, we missed our flight back and had to drive home the following day. This required an additional day of care, and David was there for us. At that point we had to find a new way home, a new hotel room for the night, inform work, and deal with cancellations while in the ER. Everything else was a hassle to deal with, except David, who gave us one less thing to worry about.
I would recommend and absolutely use again.

I recently gave Reno/​Tahoe Dogs a try when my girlfriend and I were visiting Reno for the weekend. It was important to us to have a great boarding place for our 3-​month old puppy.
Before our trip, I had a good and efficient communication with David, and he was aware that we were bringing a 3-​month old puppy who had not been boarded before. He definitely has the «IT Systems» aspect of his business sorted out.
We arrived ~9:30 pm, tired from the traffic-​laden drive from the Bay Area. David met us, and he commented that she was smaller than he expected. We spoke for around 5 minutes, he took our puppy and let her loose with 2 other dogs in his back yard. We didn’t get to meet the other dogs. We asked if there was anyone back there with the dogs and he said no and that this was the way the dogs were going to meet. I was thinking «hmmm, is that the socialization approach for a puppy and adult dogs, putting them together in the dark, at night, without a proper introduction?» Not how I would have handled it, but I figured that he knew what he was doing, and we drove off.
As were were pulling up to our hotel, 15 minutes later, David called with panic in his voice and said «you need to come pick up your dog now». I’m thinking oh boy, here we go. When we arrived back at David’s house, our puppy was in the garage, in her crate, with David standing there. Apparently when David approached the puppy, it gave him a «blood curdling scream», was acting «aggressively», ran away, and pooped on his light colored carpet.
David returned our money, and advised us that the hotel we were staying at accepts pets. Luckily he was right, at a higher cost «pet room», obviously wasn’t the cool weekend «getaway room» I reserved. It goes without saying that having the puppy along substantially changed the nature of our activities that weekend.
I still don’t quite understand what happened. The puppy is socialized daily, with other adult humans, dogs and 3^rd graders, and we have never had a problem before. She is a handful, like all puppies, but my young daughter handles her just fine. I don’t have as much experience as David, but I suspect that tossing the puppy in the back yard without some transition time was the root cause of the problem. I’m very disappointed at the outcome and the lack of problem solving. Giving me my money back at 10:30 pm on the start of my weekend was not an acceptable outcome.

We boarded our dog Mylo with Dave in the end of August 2013. My husband and I were finally going on our honeymoon (married in December, honeymoon in August). We rarely board our «fur baby» and typically have him stay with friends. Being that we were not from the Reno area, we didn’t know what to do. After reading the reviews on Reno Tahoe Dogs I was super excited. Dave was EXTREMELY helpful, every step of the way. Super professional, loved his business/​online form set –up which made it very easy for us to send the info requested and easier for Dave to care for Mylo — total win-​win! I was of course nervous to leave Mylo at first but Dave made us feel super comfortable — when we came back, Mylo was super relaxed, and HAPPY. I could tell that he had a WONDERFUL stay. We also loved the updates from Dave while we were away. Should we pass through Reno again — we will definitely chose RenoTahoeDogs — HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Thanks Dave!!!

I went looking for a boarding facility because one of my two dogs made her displeasure with 3x daily pet sitting known by peeing on the floor repeatedly. I chose RenoTahoeDogs because I knew the home atmosphere wouldn’t be as stressful for my two girls as a traditional kennel would be.
I wanted to meet David and his dogs before committing to leaving my girls there, so he offered to meet me and my dogs at the park where he exercises dogs daily on Fitness Adventures (additional cost beyond boarding).
I’ve left the dogs with David on two occasions now. Once was two days with one overnight and the other was a full week. On both occasions I requested Fitness Adventures and my girls received all the exercise I expected plus some. My lab loves hopping in the river now and then along the trails David uses, and the shepherd can actually tire herself out on his 3 – 4 mile hikes. He always sends a picture and stats from the Fitness Adventures. Most importantly, they returned home happy after each visit, albeit a little quiet and tired. They didn’t pout about being brought back there for the second visit, either. This was a giant relief to me because my lab girl is very sensitive and has suffered from separation anxiety in certain situations, and the shepherd girl can get growly with other dogs if she feels uncertain.
David’s very quick to respond to email and even answered the phone for my initial call. I did fill out his online form requesting information a week or more before I called, but didn’t receive a response on that. My advice is to call if the form fails you, because he may not have received it. I receive daily updates and usually a daily picture while my girls are there. David also sends stats on the Fitness Adventure, including time and distance.
David’s friendly, accommodating and obviously enjoys the dogs. I’ll continue to board my dogs there and would recommend his services without reservation.

I am a little late writing a review, but I wanted to say I am so pleased that I left my boxer Kratos with David while I was out of town. His response time was very fast, and he did a great job of making me feel comfortable with leaving my «baby» in his care.
David frequently sent photo updates and emails letting me know how Kratos was doing. Since Kratos is a boxer, he is a very high-​energy dog. After coming home, he was exhausted for days. I’ve never seen him sleep so much! Kratos had no problems with adjusting to being back home, and didn’t seem stressed in any way.
Reno Tahoe Dogs is a great alternative to staying at a boarding facility. I am VERY picky about where I leave my dog, and usually prefer to bring him with me when I am away. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to bring him on this trip, and spent a lot of time trying to find someone I trusted to leave him with. I decided upon David because of the wonderful reviews I read. I’m glad I chose David to care for Kratos. He did an amazing job! I highly recommend Reno Tahoe Dogs.

We had a great experience leaving our two beloved dogs with David! We have an 8 month old puppy and a 12 year old 3-​legged dog — both dogs have only stayed with family and friends when we leave town. Have never had to kennel the dogs and really didn’t want to go that route. so was so happy when we found David through an online search and saw the glowing reviews. This really was the next best thing to leaving the dogs with friends/​family. He was very responsive prior to the dogs stay and kept us updated almost daily while we were gone — emails including pictures! And here’s the amazing part — the puppy had an eye infection when we dropped her with David — this infection just wasn’t going away because the puppy was so resistant to getting the drops in her eyes. She would go crazy when we tried to put them in… well…I left the drops with David and told him «good luck» and low and behold her eyes were much improved when we picked her up AND she now takes the drops from us with absolutely no struggle. David somehow fixed that little problem for us! We will definitely use David’s services again in the future.

Reno/​Tahoe Dogs does a great service of boarding and caring for our dog while we are out of town. David is very attentive listening and observing the needs of our pet. Thank you again!

I found RenoTahoeDogs via an internet search and found favorable reviews. I liked that David, the owner, was very professional and had specific instructions on what was required of his customers and what services he provides. When I arrived he showed me around the fully fenced yard and introduced me to his dogs. I felt comfortable leaving my dog with David and he would send me updates and pictures. David is also flexable with pick up and drop off and the prices are very reasonable. I will leave my dog with David again in the future. I would recommend David to both friends and family.

Our dog loved staying at «the country club»! She interacted very well with the family dogs. The yard is very dog friendly and safe. During her stay, we received photos of her activities with little stories… very cute! Her special needs to attended to and David was very attentive to these needs during out first meeting. I really didn’t worry about her while we were gone. We previously boarded her at local kennel, but after their recent move, the atmosphere wasn’t what we wanted for our little girl. David’s place is her «home away from home»!
