Was turned off by some of the subpar reviews from locals. I’ve been here on business a few weeks and staying at a hotel walking distance from Moxies. The locals could not be more wrong. I always say in the bar because you can gamble and smoke. The Bartenders have been great, Greg is top notch. The food menu is extensive and delicious. I HIGHLY recommend the tri-tip kabobs. Had a few daily specials as well with were excellent. The food and drink prices are very well priced. I may not be local but I’ve been to Moxies a few times during my stay. I have been very impressed by everything.

The resturant looks nice. Good size menu with choices for everyone. We started with a brie quesadilla and salsa that came with it – not a fiesta for me. Then the fried zucchini would have been nice if not so much breading. Now on to my chicken parm — threw me off when asked if i want, rice, potaoes, or pasta with it. Pasta won — duh. The sauce on chicken parm was spicy in an unfamiliar way for me. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. I do not see us returning for dinner, but the appetizer menu in bar may get us back for cocktails.

This was our first and last time ever going to Moxie’s. The tortilla soup was nothing but tomato sauce and cheese which dripped all over my chin. The croutons that where on my salad where stale n the few cucumbers was slimy. I was offended they even served that to me. Our dinner entrée where microwaveable quality n served on cold plates. We were so disappointed since we live in the neighborhood n this place failed in every aspect. Our stomachs were already grumbling with gas before we even got home. Whoever rates this place with more the 2 stars must not have any taste buds.

We’ve gone here on a few separate occasions now. It is our nice getaway place close to home. We went in a few nights ago just before the kitchen shit down and the bartender made us feel at home and made sure that we were promptly served. Our food was hot and delicious. I judge places on certain foods that I like and so far Moxie’s has not failed in one area!

We ate here while staying at the nearby hampton inn and suites. Large menu, food was all fine. Big portions.

2nd times here and sat in the bar area. Greg the bartender/server is great! Informative, friendly and just the right amount of attention. The only draw backs is that there is a ventilation system over the bar area to keep the smoke away from the bartenders which is good for them but it blows right on you if you’re sitting at the bar… And it is a little smokey in the bar area but you can sit in the dining room if you want to get away from it. Food is overall good.

This was the second time we tried this restaurant. The first time we went we remembered it as being really good but this time was disappointing. The chicken enchilada soup was mostly broth with barely any chicken and barely warm. The hamburgers tasted like they were previously frozen and the buns did not appear to be fresh. We will not be back.

Moxie is truly a Northwest Reno neighborhood standby. It is one of our«go to» places for a casual dinner. It is also a great place to take family when they are visiting; because of the varied menu, there is something for everyone. Tonight my husband and I stopped in for a late dinner. We started with onion rings, which were crispy and delicious, and came out quickly and piping hot. He had the ranch burger, which he says is consistently good. I was going to have the green chile burger, but opted instead for the black and bleu New York steak. Both our meals were cooked medium rare as requested. I was very happy with my steak and had plenty of leftovers to take home. Even the soup – chicken Cilantro – was delicious. That is another thing I appreciate about Moxie; the soups are house made and always good. By the way, another reason we like Moxie is that the service is reliably good. Drinks stay fulll and staff is attentive without being overbearing. Just the right balance in our opinion.

I can’t believe this place is still here, and I’m not saying that in a rude way, just in a truly surprised way. Places like Moxie’s usually don’t last, especially when it’s in the location it’s in. I used to be a regular here way back when. My boyfriend at the time and I would eat at Moxie’s at least once a week. We loved the seat-yourself-ease and the predictable quality. After years of completely forgetting its existence, I went to eat with a friend, last night. The same pictures hang on the wall, and I’m pretty sure the older gentleman who clears your table is the same man who refilled my water 8 years ago. It was a true trip down memory lane. Back when, all I would get was their fried chicken. I don’t even really care for fried chicken, and never think, «Hey, you know what sounds good?» However, because their fried chicken comes with the most epic honey mustard in existence, it’s the only option. Of course, I got the fried chicken last night. The chicken was extremely greasy and the fries didn’t knock my socks off, but the honey mustard! It was heaven! I dipped my chicken, fries, and fingers in that tasty concoction. I was beyond pleased that it hadn’t changed. Along with my fried chicken, I ordered a cup of the creamy mushroom soup. It was gluttonous. Insanely good. I will come back just for that. My friend had the tri tip dip. She said it was good, but the au jus was barely room temp. It took a while for our waitress to see to our table, so she sat waiting, while her sandwich got cold. She’s a really easy-going person, had that been me, I would have been highly annoyed. Speaking of the service, it wasn’t overly attentive or friendly. However, the above-mentioned man is very sweet and totally on it. He gets two thumbs up. Moxie’s does food well, but I wouldn’t say it’s overly fabulous. Add that element to the so-so service, and you get an experience that’s just«eh». When food is your business, it needs to be top notch. Same with service. I hope they start warming their au jus, because I don’t want this place to go anywhere.

Underwhelming, to say the least. Came back here after years away only because they keep their kitchen open late. Wish we had opted for a casino because the food here is completely uninspiring. I had a tasteless steak sandwich on a too-big roll with an afterthought of a side salad. The place is nicely appointed and they have big menu which might be why nothing tastes great. Moxies has been around forever and I expected so much more. I think if you are into playing some bar top machines this place is fine but would never suggest eating here just for the food.

Went to Moxie’s today for lunch, and I work in downtown Reno and drove all the way over. I called ahead of time and let the nice server know I wanted the Shrimp Ceviche and a cup of the French Onion Soup. When I arrived my food was ready, and the Ceviche was excellent-very fresh and delicious. Decent price too. The French Onion Soup had a wonderful flavor, I did find threads all over in it which judging by the reaction to that by the staff-that NEVER happens, so they took it off my tab and gave me a free cup of creamy mushroom soup-which was awesome too. I was out of there within 35 minutes and able to return to work on time. Service was good, food flavor was excellent, only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the threads in my soup. I was a food server for 7 years, and sometimes things happen, so I will forgive that and definitely return on my lunch hour very soon for more Ceviche! :) Thank you nice server(Lacey?) who took good care of me and thank the cooks too.

Breakfast at a bar? It’s a chance the hubby and I took when we used Unilocal’s «Nearby» feature and saw that Moxie’s has been in the restaurant scene for a number of years and has only 18 reviews, many of which were written seemingly years ago. We called to make sure they were still offering the brunch menu, which they do provide on the weekends. When we arrived, we were invited to sit wherever we liked. We chose to take advantage of the lovely weather and check out their patio seating, of which our table had shade. Our hostess/server, Courtney, asked us for our drink requests while we looked over our menus. She made mention that she was also the bartender and that she enjoys making her specialty, a bloody Mary. My hubby is a fan of this tomato cocktail, so he decided to check out her supposed talent. I’m sure he’ll describe more in detail in his review, but suffice it to say that he exclaimed, «Wow!» repeatedly several times, a reaction I don’t often hear after he sips his breakfast drink of choice. I kept it simple with partaking a cup of joe with cream, for which my reaction was a simple«mmm». I had the eggs benedict, which is my typical go to for tryout the quality of a breakfast venue. Interestingly, Courtney, asked me if I liked my eggs runny or hard. I don’t think I’ve ever had a server ask me that regarding poached eggs. I let her know that I would be greatly disappointed if they came out hard. My man decided upon lunch items; one of their hamburgers with a side of soup, and a soup and salad combo. The eggs were cooked to near perfection, sat neatly upon slices of ham, based on a toasted English muffin, all topped with seemingly bland hollandaise sauce. I was quite underwhelmed until my hubby reminded me that we were at a bar, and then I just dumped a bunch of Tobasco sauce to give it at least a hint of flavor. When I shared a bite with him, he thought he tasted a hint of lemon. I did not detect this at all. I did like the potatoes, which had some onions and diced peppers. The dish was edible, but not one that I will be reordering or recommending in the future. Courtney and our«bus boy», who was a friendly older gentleman, did provide great service, checking on us frequently without hovering, clearing the plates, and refilling our waters and my coffee. It’s not often that we consume breakfast on the northwest side of town, but I might consider them again if we are in the neighborhood. I would be interested in returning for an evening and checking out their bar area with friends because we did notice a long high top table. Unfortunately, they do not have a Happy Hour. So, we’ll see.

Good variety of menu items and service is routinely very good. The chicken sandwich was tasty and well proportioned and the steak sandwich was also good and cooked just right. Moxie’s is a local Reno chain and well worth a stop for a flavorful quick meal.

Comfort food! Plus a great selection of tap beers and skilled bartenders. Martinis, manhattan, negroni, Black and Tan, you name it.

Food was cheap skimping. For four small chicken fingers it was 10 bucks. Horrid! The chicken nachos were pitiful looking and tasted the same. We will never go back. This used to be one of our favorites.

I love going to Moxies because it’s close to my home, but what makes it even better is the staff; Courtney, Greg, and Jen are amazing people. They are always very attentive and helping you with anything you need. Do I think the food is 5 star, no. But, I go for the staff. Every neighborhood needs a good bar and this is the best 1 in mind.

Average Food & Setting! Nothing special, but it is close to us so it is kinda nice. Food — all good, no surprises Potion — smaller side Location – convenient, right off the I-80 Setting — nice and clean, looks almost like hotel coffee shop Menu — they pretty much cover all american food All in all, I do like this place. I would give them 3.5 stars if I can. Give it a try! =)

Had lunch there for the first time last week. Small place, decent service. Ordered a Cobb salad that was very good. Good prices too. Good place for lunch in NW Reno.
