History

Established in 2000.

Jason Galapagos provides a versatile and eclectic mix of acoustic guitar music to fit any occasion. His extensive repertoire includes both jazz and latin styles as well as composed contemporary, classical and early lute music. He has been studying classical and jazz guitar for over twenty years and has performed at countless weddings, concerts, fine restaurants, parties and other public events around Lake Tahoe and the San Fransico Bay Area. Some of his biggest influences include Andres Segvia, John Williams, Yo-​Yo Ma, Julian Bream, Baden Powell, The Beatles, Augustin Barrios Mangore, Wes Montgomery, Billy Holiday, John Coltrane, Heitor Villa-​Lobos, Elvin Jones, Carlos Santana, Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Grant Green, Ray Brown, Antonio Lauro, Antonio Carlos Jobim, John Dowland, Mauro Giuliani and many more… He is a favorite for weddings and private gatherings around Lake Tahoe and offers individual and group guitar instruction in the Northern Nevada region.

Business Owner

Jason began studying classical guitar at the age of ten, and took an interest in performing with jazz big bands and ensembles throughout high school. In 1997 he had the opportunity to study with guitarist Clint Strong (of Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard fame) at the University of Nevada, Reno and performed with the UNR Jazz Lab band as a high school senior. He majored in Jazz Studies the following two years at UNR, continuing to study under Clint Strong, Ed Corey and Hans Halt. Between 2002 and 2009 he worked as a professional performing artist in Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area, continuing his music education at California State University, Humboldt. In 2010, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in music and currently holds a Master of Music Performance degree (M.M.) in classical guitar from the University of Nevada, Reno.
