Shell We Golf

This freaking place. We arrived on a Thursday evening around 7:30pm and it was out of control packed. We didn’t actually even realize how packed it was until we had already paid and stepped foot into the course, where we were actually able to view the insanely long lines backed up at each hole. They only take cash. I went to go get a refund (approx. 2 minutes after paying) and the owner just looked at me and pointed at the sign saying «NO REFUNDS». He literally had one of those metal cash boxes. You can’t open that up and give me my $ 20 back? Terrible, unfriendly service and management.
Also, I felt mislead by these Unilocal reviews. Frankly, the course wasn’t that cool people. Unilocalers were saying how impressive the pars were and the scenery and ambiance. Not that great. The first 8 holes are a dud. I’ve experienced more interactive mini golf places in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Apparently the last few holes, past the large trees blocking it, have a big smoke machine and THAT actually looked cool, but it took us almost 45 minutes to even get to the 6^th hole. AT that point we were over waiting so long for each hole and just left.
Pretty disappointed with this place; we could have definitely just went to ANY other mini golf place at the beach and had a more enjoyable, interactive experience. Pass.

Cute little beachy type course. At $ 8.00 a round, the cost is very reasonable. If there are a lot of people playing however, it gets backed up quickly and there isn’t many places to get out of the way. Kids 3 and under are free. No other children discount.

I had good fun here. It’s a cute golf course with a tropical island theme. Nothing too fancy, and it really wraps around itself which is cool… Small area, but plenty of fun. The holes aren’t too hard, but they are fun.
They also have straw-​like hats you can wear, which helps cut down on the sun. This is probably the shadiest minigolf place in the area, if not ever (other than indoor ones, obviously).

The course is fine, if a little rundown. The price ($ 8, no discount for kids) is normal. On the day I went, the guy at the counter was pretty darn grouchy for what ought to be a fun, family place. For some reason, the establishment makes you go inside to pay with a credit card. Which brings me to this:
What I find thoroughly unforgivable is how the store to which the mini golf is attached treats its customers as though they are the enemy.
I understand that theft is a serious problem, particularly for a small business. Moreover, I would imagine that this place has more than its share of 12-​year olds stuffing $ 2 trinkets into their pockets. But every step of the store has another sign about their promise to prosecute shoplifters or a reminder that there are surveillance cameras or how if you break it, you bought it, or how they will not give cash refunds. These signs are everywhere you look. Everywhere.
An aside: my son hit his ball into some shrubs during our game. I spent about five minutes hunting for the ball, convinced that they’d charge $ 5 if we lost it. Let me add that I have no idea if they would do that, it’s just the vibe the place gives off. I don’t think I’ve ever been in an establishment that hates its customers as much as the Sea Shell Shop appears to.

Super cute! We went here the last 3 days to play — each time was a different experience. My family and I had a great time! Lots of benches to rest on, lots of pretty trees and flowers. And my favorite part was the tiki bar music

We stopped to play a round of mini golf on our way back from a bike ride. We skipped a few holes because the groups in front of us were large and slow but other than that it was pretty good. It’s easy enough to skip but we didn’t try to go back for the ones we missed so I’m not sure on their policy for that. The course isn’t very difficult (we averaged 3s) and it doesn’t have a lot of props in your way. It was a little repetitive but it was a great way to spend some time fairly cheap. The old guy there was super nice and even offered to watch our bag and bike helmets. I saw someone called him grumpy — definitely wasn’t the case when we went. There are some shady spots to get a little break from the sun but for the most part you’re exposed to the elements. They do have a few water props so you can get a little spray to cool you off too. It’s a great place to spend an hour to break up the beach day but not really something you’d build a day around, if that makes sense.

We went to Shell We Golf in the winter on a rainy day, so the water was off and the whole place looked a little depressing. Paint was wearing off in places, and the greens were pulling up in a few places. However, much like the beach bric-​à-​brac shop it is connected to, this place is just about as kitschy as you can get. So if that’s what you’re looking for… it’s amazing!

This is a cute mini golf course right on busy Coastal Highway in Rehoboth. The theme is shells and each hole is fashioned after a type of shell that is found on the East Coast.
We like it because most of the course is shady. It’s super clean and a lot of fun. It’s attached to a nice cream stand and a gift shop.

Good times. The old man who works at the window where you get the bald and the clubs is probably the grumpiest person in the world. There should be someone fun working there because it’s a fun place!

I love this place. all of the courses are beach themed, and it is beautiful. there is island music that plays while you golf, making it feel more like an island of some sort. the holes are pretty difficult, but fun. the only thing I had a problem with is how crowded it was. there was a lot of waiting just to get to a single hole. otherwise, it was fun.
after golfing, we got ice cream at «Shell We Eat Ice Cream?», and it was good ice cream, but the cones seemed a bit stale.
I really enjoyed it here and would love to come again.

We really enjoyed golfing here. The holes were challenging but not impossible and the place was not crowded at all especially for a Saturday afternoon in August. At $ 7 a person we thought the price was totally reasonable. Check out the store on site. It has lots of unique souvenirs in addition to your typical beach junk.

Having never been to Rehoboth Beach before (partially because I couldn’t even spell the name to put it into GPS), I didn’t know what to expect from its mini-​golf scene. Down the road in Ocean City, it’s all kiddie friendly props and easy holes.
Not here. Even on a sunny Sunday morning, there was not a toddler to be found. Only couples challenging each other on courses with honest par threes. The greens undulate in a way that it takes a grownup to get the ball to the hole. Kids might cry as they watch their ball roll back at them on every hole. I know I did.
And kids probably lack the attention span to read all the signage explaining the flora and fauna of Rehoboth Beach. If someone is new to the area, this course provides a quasi-​tour to understanding this part of the shore (including the college kids who frequent it). The props are a bit aged but they don’t play into the course much anyway.
One problem I did have with the course was the cost. At $ 7.00 a round (and nary a coupon for it to be found or even a discount for purchasing something next door at the chain souvenir shop next door), it’s quite pricey. And there’s only one course. But what it lacks in choice, it has in charm and challenge. And it’s almost literally «the only game in town» since there are only two other mini-​golf places in Rehoboth Beach. At least it’s a good one.

This is your typical mini golf park. I enjoyed my time there with my family. It wasn’t too crowded and the holes were challenging enough to keep my group (all over the age of 30) entertained for about and hour or so. The gift shop, attached, is delightfully tacky. I definitely encourage a spin around it just for kicks.
I recommend this if you are in the area.

Could have been more interesting if they had a few more ways to get a hole-​in-​one over the 18 holes (among 6 of us, there were only 2 the entire time, and we’re at least average mini golfers), or if they had a multi-​level hole or two, but certainly not bad.
Not sure how it compares to Jungle Jim’s, but I’ll probably at least try another place before I go back to this one just to see what else is out there.

This is a very nice course (Rehoboth Beach’s finest); it’s also very hard. Tough holes, not all the greens are level (dang ball won’t stay still). The theme is a lush, tropical island so there’s a lot of foliage. Some of it impinges on the tees and course. It was a fun 18 holes (19^th hole is to try to win a free game). There is also a big souvenir shop to browse. Mini-​golf; it’s like regular golf– only mini-​er!
