Specialties

The founding principle of Tutu School is that every child should know what it feels like to dance to the strains of Tchaikovsky and Bach. That motor skill development is infinitely enhanced by moving like a bunny rabbit, a dolphin, or a horse, and that young imaginations benefit immensely from exploring the enchanted worlds of swans and sugarplums, or firebirds and fairies.

Tutu School offers classes for children 18 months to 8 years old, as well as Ballet Birthday Parties, and Tutu Camp!

Business Owner

Born and raised in Redwood City, and currently living there, I bring extensive experience as an educator to my role as the owner of Tutu School Redwood City.

As someone who is excited about anything and everything to do with children, I am equally passionate about working to connect parents on the Peninsula. Currently I serve as a board member of the San Carlos/​Belmont Mothers’ Club where she runs Children’s Outings events that bring together mothers and children in her community.

With 20 years of teaching experience as a swim instructor, I know exactly what makes a truly special teacher, and I have carefully assembled the perfect faculty to bring Tutu School’s unique curriculum to life. I am thrilled to be at the helm of a place devoted to bringing magic –and twirling– to the children of the Peninsula!

Yeah for Tutu School. A low stress environment that allows children to thrive. My girls took one year of classes and are excited to return! They also went to two weeks of «Tutu school camp» and were engaged and creative. They came home with lots of crafts and a deeper love of dancing. They got their twirl on!

My daughters, age 3.5 and 6.5, attended camp at the Tutu School last week. We have attended several camps this summer already and were very impressed with the Tutu school. To begin with, the owner is very friendly and responsive and helped us work through scheduling challenges while patiently answering all of our questions. We were able to drop off our girls at 8:30 instead of 9 which worked well with our schedule. The facility is lovely and magical. My girls both loved the dance room and beautiful tutus on the wall. The teachers were upbeat and warm and kept the children highly engaged all week. At the end the performed the ballet they had learned that week (the Nutcracker). This is a wonderful camp and everything about it is top quality! We have attended a different ballet school in the area but are switching to this one now based on the lovely atmosphere and team there. They really work hard to create a magical experience for the children.

What an amazing place, my daughter LOVES going here. We previously had taken classes at MPAOD and the my daughters weren’t very interested in anything other than the outfits. What sets Tutu School apart from other ballet classes is the way in which they teach the girls ballet. They are still learning the same skills but they teach them in an age appropriate and fun way. I think they have instilled a life long love of dance as a direct result of their style of teaching.

My four year old daughter loves coming here. We did a trial class and my daughter was hooked! The teachers are really nice and very patient. There is no pressure to perform because there is no recital at the end of the season. My daughter is very shy and she loves her ballet class. The owner does a great job with extracurricular activities too. They had a party to kick of the beginning of season and we just returned from a Halloween party. It’s a nice little extra touch that you don’t see very often. This is a great school if you are thinking about putting your kids in ballet!

Fabulous ballet school!!! The teachers are so sweet and patient! The decorations are wonderful and the location is perfect! There is always parking. My daughters look forward to going every class and we love it so much we are having our 3 years old birthday there! They do all the work and it’s awesome!!! I highly recommend — you can do a trial class if you aren’t sure you wanna commit.

We looked into a few other ballet schools in the area and we are so glad we chose this one! The place is brand new, super clean, conveniently located (easy parking) and most of all, it’s decorated so cute that it definitely won me over as soon as I stepped into the studio. We have been taking our 3 year old since it opened in March and she fell in love with it because her teacher, Miss Pasha, makes it so much fun for the kids to learn. Dancing at this age isn’t so much about the actual dancing but about the lessons that comes along with being in a class… and Miss Pasha gets this! Besides teaching the dance moves, she is always high energy, lots of fun, and most importantly teaches the kids about things like listening, improving, and teamwork («Never leave a ballerina behind»). We love her! Definitely worth a look!

Our daughter (2.5 years) loves this place. The teacher Ms Nikky works wonders to make the little ones dance like ballerinas — in a fun and relaxed way, so that our daughter keeps asking about her all the time, and keeps singing «I LOVE BALLET»! The class and type of exercises are perfectly tailored to the abilities of our child’s age with a perfect mix of rhythm, movements, creativity and imagination.
The studio itself is a masterpiece — brand new, lots of attention to detail, and a perfect setup for this kind of classes.
Christy, the owner, is great to work with — it’s obvious that she loves what she does.

Wow, what a magical place this is. We have enjoyed classes there and our 3 year old girl just had a wonderful birthday party at the Tutu school! The party included boys and girls – it was just magical and darling and everyone had a special time. The attention to detail here makes all the difference by all the folks that work at the studio. Highly recommend!

I took my daughter to Tutu School and she loved it! Unfortunately we live in Half Moon Bay and won’t be able to come for a while since I’m out on maternity leave, but hope to return soon. Ms Nikky is very kind and patient with the girls, also communicating with the owner, Christy is super easy, she has always been on top of my messages. Highly recommend Tutu School!

We had my daughter’s 4th birthday party at Tutu School last weekend. It was great! My daughter and all her friends had a great time! They decorated tiaras, had a ballet class led by teacher Nikki, had cupcakes and got to take home gift bags with their very own tutus! The cupcakes and favor bags are all part of the package, which is great because you don’t have to worry about anything «extra» and all is included in the price. The studio is very clean and cute. Teacher Nikki was so great with the girls. She dresses up in a beautiful tutu and all the little girls thought she was a «real» ballerina and adored her! The owner is also great and was very easy to deal with for all the pre-​party prep. I would highly recommend this party to others.
