Alot of times people seem to put off what they know they should do, and when they finally get it done, they are wondering why they didn’t do it sooner. That is exactly the case with my new veneer from Dr. Steve’s office. Dr. Steve had been letting me know for years that I should get my veneer replaced and I finally agreed in December. Now that it is done, it looks great, matches my other teeth perfectly, and I am wondering why I didn’t do it years ago.

The front office receptionist was not friendly and despite i had insurance the only thing she was interested in was telling me i had to make sure i knew i had more out of pocket money to pay. Why would i go to a dentist with the office staff who isnt even interested in my dental care… only my money…

I am happy to have relocated to New Jersey /​New York for professional reasons, but sad to leave Dr. K’s care. If you’re in the Bay Area, this is the guy to go to. I had moved around a bit in the Bay and even drove from Walnut Creek at one point to see him!

I am so glad I found Dr. Kolokithas! My previous dentist had retired, I found a new one I liked, but he eventually left the area, and then I found yet another dentist who managed to give me my first and only anxiety attack in a dentist’s chair. And then I finally found Dr. Kolokithas and all was right again in my dental world! :o)
Dr. Kolokithas gave a very thorough first exam and cleaning. His approach is conservative — he will not push you into unnecessary treatments. I did have some immediate issues, which I knew about going in. I had a large section of tooth break away from a large old filling. He was able to fill the tooth so I was able to avoid a crown. The work was flawless and he was very gentle and very reassuring throughout the procedure. I knew I was in good hands. Down the road, I also had a 20 year-​old crown that needed to be replaced. This was a difficult procedure because my gums had receded significantly around the crown and the lower tooth under the crown had started to decay. He was able to save the tooth and replace the crown, which was huge and complicated. He and his assistant, Erica, were able to get it just right and it looks and feels better than it ever did. Today, the gum around that tooth is much healthier and is not as receded as it once was. As always, Dr. Kolokithas called me the night of the procedures to make sure I was doing okay.
Lori at the front desk is extremely knowledgable about dental insurance and will help you find ways to best utilize your dental plan. She’s always very helpful and is a joy to work with.
I have referred my family to Dr. K and they are all now happy and satisfied patients as well. I highly recommend Dr. Kolokithas!

Dr Steve is one of the best dentists that I have ever been to. His office is clean and his staff professional. But the very best thing about him is his conservative approach to dentistry.
I have been lucky enough to have very good teeth with very little problems. However, a few years ago I broke a molar eating chewy candy and literally a quarter of my tooth was missing. I was freaking out, thinking I was for sure going to need a crown (expensive!!). Dr. Steve gave me an exam and determined he could fill the tooth instead of doing a crown. My tooth looked as good as new and a fraction, and I mean fraction of the cost.
My son also sees Steve. He is 4 and seems to have an invisible target on his two front teeth. He has bashed his mouth more times than I can count and Steve has always taken great care of him. I don’t know he does it, but he manages to get my son to sit still during the visit!
If you are looking for an honest dentist with a gentle touch then you need look no further. =)

I found Dr. Kolokithas over 1.5 years ago thanks to Unilocal!I have been extremely happy with the quality & care of his work. I probably literally almost have a million dollar smile so I’ve been to plenty of dentists in my life & Dr. Kolokithas is #1 on my long list!
He appears to have state of the art dental technology and is great at what he does as well as having a caring and very friendly attitude to go with it! He will also call and check on me in the evening after a difficult or involved procedure (Yes, i told you –lots of dental work experience!!)…I’ve never had a dentist do that! In addition, if a referral to a specialist is needed, you can rest assured that those doctors are top notch as well!
As others have noted, he has a great staff! Lori helps you with all your appointment & referral needs and the hygenists are friendly & educational! You won’t be disappointed with Dr. Kolokithas & his team!

Dr. Steve has been my dentist for over 10 years! Never had a painful visit and he is the best dentist on the peninsula. He is very helpful and knowledgeable especially when you break a tooth or two, like I did. The staff and hygienists are very warm, caring, and professional. You’re in great hands with Dr. Steve and his staff.

I have an extreme fear of the dentist’s office. My boyfriend recommended Dr. Kolokithas and has been going to him for years. I have to agree that the staff at this office is the nicest I’ve ever met and really helps me relax. I found out last year that I would have to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed; Dr. K recommended an oral surgeon and in October they were all taken out. The oral surgeon who pulled my wisdom teeth out was great as well. (: I love this dentist and will never ever go anywhere else. He has helped me take better care of my teeth just by reducing my anxiety of going to his office in the first place! lol

I have been to many dentists through out my life time but now that I have found Dr. Steve Kolokithas I won’t have to be searching any more. He is the best. He is personable, likable and most important knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. He does every thing with care and gentleness. He works seamlessly with his staff to provide excellent dental care. He treats me and my family like his family. We all seem to like going to the dentist. And, that is saying something.

Serioulsly. Dr. Steve may be the best dentist in the peninsula. In additional to doing great family dentistry, he is truly an artist when it comes to cosmetic restructuring. After seeing the effects of his craft on both my partner and my own grille, I am convinced that he is the best bang for your buck.
The entire office staff is extremely friendly and helpful, not to mention flexible.
I’m a HUGE fan of the high tech digital x-​rays. I love that they’re fast. I love that they have great resolution. I REALLY love how green they are for the environment (no toxic film chemicals needed).

I am absolutely dentist phobic and have been for many years. Dr. Steve was recommended to me by a friend about 3 years ago. Since that time he has done many different procedures on me and I will honestly tell you that never once in 3 years has he hurt me in any way shape or form. From shots to filings to root canals he is kind and gentle and truly the best dentist I have ever seen. The office staff is wonderful. For the first time in my life I am not terrified to go into a dentists office!
If you are looking for a dentist I recommend you give Dr. Steve a try, I think you will be amazed.

I am terrified of the dentist (that should be an all caps TERRIFIED), and I finally went to see Dr. Steve on referral from some Unilocalers here. I haven’t been to the dentist in about 5 years or so, and finally dragged myself in because I had such a bad cavity. This dentist is the first one who hasn’t asked me if I wanted my teeth whitened or tried to refill all my existing fillings with the white stuff. He is the first dentist who has tried to accommodate my jaw problem and my irrational fear of dentists. He is the first dentist who directed me to a TMJ specialist who can actually help me with my jaw and headache problem. I’ve been to his office twice while kids have been in the office. He is so nice to them and describes fun stuff about teeth. I wish my childhood dentist had been so cool! Anyway, thanks to the Unilocalers who messaged with me about this dentist. Everyone at the office there is totally nice and super excellent. My x-​rays went much better than previous places (the digital x-​rays are nifty too) and my cleaning went really really well. This dental office is way better than any place I’ve every been. Oh, and my Delta Dental insurance covers almost all of the work I’ve had done so far. The x-​rays were the same price. The new patient exam was $ 12 more. It’s always nice not to get gouged by your dental bill. One thing to be aware of – the parking lot is very small. Lucky for me, I can walk there. I even got an email reminder for my cleaning appointment. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

My family and I live abroad and visit the Bay Area once a year. Whenever we come back we make sure to stop by and see Dr. Kolokithas for checkups and any necessary dental work. He is such a great dentist. One story illustrates my point.
A few years back we went to the Bay Area during the holidays. I went in for a checkup and while there, Dr. Kolikithas discovered one of my front teeth was dying from the inside. He said that I might need a root canal, but since it was the holidays his office was closed for the next few days. Since we were leaving within that time frame, he asked me to come in to fix my tooth ON HIS DAY OFF, ON CHRISTMAS EVE! I have never heard of a dentist or other medical professional being so considerate of his patients and their schedules.
I cannot recommend him highly enough. Unilocal should have a ten star ranking system just for him!

Dr. Steve has been our family dentist for many years, first in San Carlos and now in Redwood City. He takes great care with our varying needs, ranging from preventive dentistry to replacing fillings and creating crowns, always keeping in mind what’s best for us. His use of state-​of-​the-​art equipment and procedures produces great cosmetic dentistry results, too. His staff is courteous and helpful, and the office well-​run. I happily and confidently refer friends and clients to Dr. Steve, knowing he’ll give them top-​notch care.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Steve and his staff for ~3 years now. I defected from the dentist from Hell and haven’t looked back. One of the things that I really appreciate about my visits is that Dr. Steve and his staff are always on time. My experience with doctors is that they don’t give a damn about your time, but I’ve never had to wait after arriving for an appointment. They are kind and caring and put up with me — which says a lot.
