Sandra Kahn, DDS MSD

Sandra Kahn sold her business, it still operates under the same name, even though it is Image Orthodontics now. I pre-​paid for my kids orthodontics, and I am stuck here now.
I asked to have Dr Kahn call me to discuss my children’s progress and plan before she left, that never happened. I then asked to have the new orthodontist call me, that never happened. I asked for a copy of their dental records, and that never happened. The office is disorganized, no one seems to be capable of answering my questions, or cares. The business seemed to be sold very quickly. I am very dissapointed she could not follow up with me. Before she left, she traumatized my son by pulling a baby tooth without telling him. She never prepped him for this, just reached in and pulled the baby tooth out. Now my son is afraid of the orthodontist and dentist visists. Completely unprofessional.
All of the front desk staff is new, and not helpful at all. There is no follow up, no communication. If I had not pre-​paid I would be out of here. Do not come here for care — run the other direction. There are plenty of other orthodontist in this area.

We started with Dr. Khan and were very pleased. But recently she sold her practice to Image Orthodontics. The communication is very poor. We weren’t even told that my son’s aligners had come in, I had to call multiple times in order to find out what was happening. The wait time is long when you go to an appointment and it is not clear what is going to happen to the patient.

I am currently getting my teeth straightened by Dr. Kahn and was unpleasantly surprised that there would be some additions to my treatment plan (is that what you call it?) which weren’t mentioned before we started my braces. Had I gotten more thorough information, I would have chosen a different path or just not gotten braces at all.
I don’t feel that my doctor or the staff really listen to my concerns when I bring them up. I get a lot of «Oh that’s just what happens sometimes, it’s normal»
In one instance, I had to insist that it was NOT normal and they finally admitted something had gone wrong with the progression in which my teeth were moving. I’m pretty shy about speaking up so I had hoped they would have taken the initiative to act when they saw my teeth were not progressing properly but I had to insist very aggressively to get them to even look at my teeth. Then they charged me an extra few hundred to adjust the treatment.
I normally would have ignored it and just gone along with it in hoping for good results but these are thousands of dollars we’re talking about. My treatment isn’t over and I’m praying nothing else goes wrong. I was very happy at first and recommended them to all my friends who are looking to re-​align their teeth because they never wore their retainers after high school. I’ve since called them all back and told them to find someone else because I’m no longer happy with the quality of their work.

I am in my late-​thirties, had braces when I was a kid, and thought I was done with this stuff! Anyway, a few years ago I began to notice that my front teeth seemed to be moving forward. When I saw the dentist, he told me that if I didn’t do something about it, they would likely continue to move. I wanted to further investigate, and my dentist recommended Dr. Kahn.
Well, fast forward about 6 months and my teeth are all nice and straight once again! From the initial consult to the final result, my experience was smooth and pain free. I wasn’t really thrilled about having braces at my age, so Dr. Kahn suggested Invisalign. There really didn’t seem to be any drawbacks to going that route, so I gave the OK and my treatment began.
Dr. Kahn and her staff were friendly and great to work with, and the office was conveniently located and very clean. I got all the usual x-​rays and photos, as well as the various molds of my teeth for the Invisalign system. A couple of weeks later, one of Dr. Kahn’s staff called me to tell me that my Invisalign «trays», or «aligners» had arrived. I went for the fitting appointment to ensure they were molded properly, and after about 15 minutes or so I was on my way.
There was a bit of dull pain when the first set of aligners went in, but it only lasted about an hour and a few ibuprofen took care of it. That initial soreness was the only pain I felt over the 6 month period of wearing the aligners. I assume that the first pair caused a bit of soreness because they went in more tightly then the rest, which progressively move the teeth only a very small amount.
I wore each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, and I had a total of 12. At first, wearing the aligners felt very strange, and I was thinking «how am I going to last like this for 6 months». However, after about a week, I began to forget about them, and after 2 weeks, I didn’t think about them at all. No one ever noticed that I was wearing them, or if they did they didn’t say anything.
I would go in to see Dr. Kahn here and there so that she could check the progress and make sure the teeth were moving as planned. I really appreciated the automated text messages sent to my phone by her office that reminded me that I had an upcoming appointment!
Dr. Kahn was very easygoing and relaxed throughout the whole process, which put me at ease as a patient. She really seemed to know her stuff, and her staff is very professional. If anyone needs to see an orthodontist, I highly recommend Dr. Kahn and her staff, even if you’re not a kid!

I have been seeing these ladies for the past year and everytime i visit is always been pleasant. :) I am gonna miss them when my treatments are complete. whahhhh. LOL!!! You know I will keep in touch girlies. I hope that you are blessed with many more new patients and that they have the wonderful experience that i have had. We don’t live in Redwood City and tried two orthodontists in Palo Alto before coming to Dr Kahn. The other two really did not inspire any confidence and were suggesting treatments that seemed excessive and overkill for kids with still a few of the baby teeth. Dr. Kahn checked out both our kids (10 and 8) and quickly determined that it was premature to start treatment but that they were moving their teeth with their tongues, so she gave them both a little insert to «train» their tongues and sent us away for 6 months. From the first we felt that Dr. Kahn was very knowledgeable and much more interested in the well-​being of our kids than in selling another multi-​year treatment. We cannot recommend her enough.

We visited 3 orthodontists’ offices before we were lucky enough to get to Dr. Kahn. She is as professional as it gets. We had the experience of orthodontists wanting to spend over 6k on our kid when he still had baby teeth and his mouth was not fully developed. Dr. Kahn was on point as to what needed to be done now versus what was better to wait. I wish more doctors in the field were as commited. Truly as good as it gets.

Well Let me first start off with Dr. Kahn is the sweetest orthodontist you will ever meet. She has shown great admiration in caring for many people’s teeth. She does everything she can to do what is best. This includes reducing the expense of the many procedures. I personally have been with Dr. Kahn for over 13 years and she delivers the utmost excellence. As much as it being long and sometimes painful journey it was to go through all of this, she and her team made it a lot easier to deal with. I have always looked forward to seeing each and every one of the team on appointment day. There have been so many laughs and memories through out the years. If I had to have all this treatment done, I am glad it was with Dr. Kahn.

What do you think of a Dr. who jumps into your mouth without even greeting you?
On one occasion, she left the office while one of her assistants was trying to glue the wires on my teeth and was no where to be found to check the positioning of the wires.
Renee and Laural, her assistants, were unprofessional and rude as the Dr. They told me off whenever I tried to explain what I wanted to get done (my expectations)-«do not look at it too much» and «do it yourself» are the all time hits.
When I tried to bring all this to Dr. Kahn’s attention, she literally screamed and scold at me over the phone.
After I paid ~80% of the cost and ~12 month under her care, she terminated my treatment citing «personality conflict» before the work was done. I even had to find another doctor to have the wires removed.
The case is in court.
