Shamim Haldankar

I feel so lucky to have found Shamim to be our then 9 year old daughter’s speech therapist. Our daughter had been in and out of speech therapy since she was 4, but she never made meaningful gains or lasting progress with the other therapists. Shamim did a thorough assessment of our daughter — and even used video to observe more closely how she formed sounds. She then systematically educated us – and taught our daughter — ways to address her articulation and inflection issues. Our daughter is a confidant and articulate speaker now, and we owe it all to Shamim.

Prior to coming to Shamim, my 5-​year-​old son had done nine months of speech therapy with another therapist, and we saw little to no results. My son was frustrated with the experience and getting him to go to speech therapy was a struggle.
Then, we started with Shamim, and my son experienced vast improvements in a relatively short amount of time. Her rapport with my son is incredible: she looks at him and sees him in a way that reflects her desire to help school and communication become easier for him. She is patient and kind, and she is always coming up with creative ways to achieve the goals of each session. She approaches treatment sessions from a variety of ways, giving my son various opportunities to be successful.
Shamim looks at children as a whole person, not just a child with a speech issue. She provides me with feedback specific to my son, and she always suggests approaches that might work for him in other settings like home and school. She is willing to communicate with my son’s teachers and provide additional insight into what she has been working on with him so that it can, if possible, be supported in his classroom setting. Just as important as her relationship with my son is the relationship she has established with me; she recognizes that for my son to be successful, she and I need to be on the same page. She really works to build a relationship with both the child and the parents.
Not only is Shamim good at what she does, it is obvious that she really enjoys her job. She genuinely wants to help my son succeed, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. Besides that, I really like Shamim. I think she is a good person, and I am incredibly happy that we found her to help our son. I highly recommend her because I think she is creative, thoughtful, nurturing, and supportive. We have been working with Shamim for 1year, and the results we have seen have been life-​changing for my son. He is more confident, and he really wants to do well. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

As an Education Specialist I have worked and observed many speech and language pathologists. After working with Shamim I can’t express how lucky any parent or child is to have her in their life. She is passionate about her field and understands the important job of reaching out and making a deep and meaningful connection with each child in order to help them achieve the most from her sessions. She believes in working on the whole child and uses strategies that will best suit the individual child’s needs. Most importantly Shamim gets down to the child’s level in order to elicit as much communication as she can and then uses her technique and skill set to expand on their areas of speech and communication. She works with each child as if they are her only client focusing every moment of her sessions to best suit their needs. I have and continue to recommend her to parents and other professionals.

When it comes to speech therapy, Shamim Haldankar is a miracle worker… Not the kind of miracle that happens once and overnight, but the kind of miracle that happens gradually, and is the result of her hard work, patience, love, great knowledge and skills and years of experience. When our son first started with Shamim, at the age of 5, he spoke a handful words. Over the past few months, he has started to speak in sentences, make conversations, and even sing! We love Shamim and feel blessed to have her in our life.

Shamine is an amazing speech therapist, she is highly recommended by my daughter’s developmental specialist Dr. Batra. She has been an asset to have on my daughter’s fight against autism team, since going to Shamine my daughter has been making such progress with her speech and we highly recommend her.
