History

Established in 1989.

Joe Putnam became a charter Lexus dealer in 1989, adding Lexus to the Putnam Automotive Group’s stable of brands that currently includes Toyota, Mazda, Subaru, Nissan, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Volvo.

Marty Putnam, Joe’s son, began as the general manager in 1989 and is now the owner of Putnam Lexus.

The dealership has recently been remodeled and now features a state-​of-​the-​art customer lounge with free Wi-​Fi, snacks and a beverage bar, and solar panels that help us reduce our energy consumption.

My name is Jory Hite, and I have been the general manager at Putnam Lexus since April of 2015.

My goal from day one has been to provide our great customers with the best car buying and servicing experience in the world, and I have set out to accomplish this by making customer service our number one priority.

We occasionally make mistakes, but when we do, we do our best to correct them and make sure that they don’t happen again.

I purchased a used car at Putnam 12÷17÷15. As of 1÷26÷16 the DMV has no record that they are registering my car for me. The same day, 1÷26÷16, I called and left a message for the person who is supposed to handle this (Connie) and on 2÷1÷16 emailed them. One week after the phone message, as of 2÷2÷16, there is ZERO response… from anyone there.
I also emailed them about a week after I purchased the car because they said one of the salespeople knew the person whose car I purchased and they’d check into whether he had the spare keys or not and get back to me. They never got back to me. I emailed them twice after that with no reply whatsoever.
The sales guy gave me the usual BS negotiating tactics that are expected but that was fine because he was so transparent. «It’ll cost us money to get rid of your old car», «If you don’t trust us you shouldn’t buy the car» (After he told me the owner has a reputation and if anything happened to the car he’d want to protect his reputation by taking the car back BUT makes you sign a few PAGES that tell you the written contract is the complete agreement and that they will NOT take the car back unless you purchase the buy back option…) Basically he was a used car salesman.
Somehow I expected more class from a Lexus dealership.

5 stars for our dealer Robert Garcia!!!
We came here on a Sunday, thinking that the one we live closer to (Serramonte Lexus) was closed… And we are SO glad that we came here instead!
Robert came and greeted us and showed us some cars that we were interested in. We weren’t looking to buy a car the same day, we just wanted to see what options we had. He was firm with us and let us know approximate price ranges of the cars we wanted. No sugar coating, no sales people talk, he was straight to the point. He didn’t beat around the bush or pressure us to buy a car right then and there like other pushy car salesmen, which actually made us want to come back to him.
My mom had her eyes on 3 different cars, so It was about a month process for her to make up her mind and choose a car. Robert was very patient with us– he wasn’t pushy, he didn’t keep calling us constantly like desperate car salesman have in the past, he took us in his office and showed us the invoice prices of the cars on his computer– which made us develop a trust in him. Again, not once was he pushy or desperate, he was very kind, informative and helpful.
My mom ended up choosing the NX 200t, fully loaded with 4WD and navigation and power seats… and she is EXTREMELY satisfied with her purchase. While Robert sent us off to the purchasing office, he let us know that he would be there every step of the way if we had any questions about signing any of the papers. After a few minutes, the NX was ours!
While Johnny, the gentlemen who teaches people how to use these smart cars, was showing my mom all the advanced features of her new car, Robert kept coming outside to check on us and see how we were doing even though he was quite busy with other customers. He even offered to bring us water and tea which was really nice of him. He kept checking up on us to make sure everything was ok.
Overall, we are extremely lucky and comfortable with our purchase because we bought it from Robert Garcia! He is one of the most friendly, personable, and helpful car salesman I have ever met! Nothing fishy about him, he’s straight to the point and will try to help you as much as he can. I will definitely recommend him to anyone I know that is looking to purchase a Lexus.

I live in SF, I went to the Colma Lexus first and the dealer didn’t offered me the right price. So I came to this redwood city one, the dealer (Dennis Velasquez) was extremely nice and helped me with heart. Eventually Putnam Lexus offers me the lowest price that I didn’t expected! Very top service!!! And very good deals!!!

If you wanna buy LEXUS car. don’t waste your time looking for the best price and the great service, PUTNAM LEXUS. It’s the best dealer i have been ever, great customer service our sales personal was *VICTOR* tried to help us at all to get what we want. very friendly and great professional, ask for him he is very helpful person. the manager *BOB* and the finance person * BRUCE* really outstanding you feel and breath the honesty transparency, professionalism and the top class of the work they know what they do .That what others dealer they have lost confidence and transparency !!! 25 minutes waiting and not one person acknowledged us… did I not look like I was there to buy??? Guess not… I was looking into the new RX Hybrid but could not get anyone to give me any info on it. The guys at the desk clearly saw me and kept on to what looked as «doing nothing» to me but hey maybe they were waiting on an important call or email (rolling my eyes)…rather go somewhere else… OFF TO THE NEXT

When I purchase a new car, I like to do the negotiating over email. It just works well for me. So when I decided it was time for a new Lexus, I looked online for inventory and found that Putnam had the car I wanted in stock (actually 3 of them). I filled out the «Purchase Inquiry» section on their website and waited. Soon after, I received a reply from David Jenner. Thanks to the internet, I knew that the price he quoted me was very reasonable. I really lucked out, because he turned out to be the most low-​key and trustworthy salesperson you could ever hope for.
Even though I was there on a busy Saturday, he took a lot of time to explain the features of the car. Not once did I feel rushed or pressured. And he even got what I considered to be a fair price for my trade-​in. Done deal!
After the initial paperwork was done, David handed me off to the finance guy, Josh Modi. Josh was every bit as low-​key and trustworthy as David. And like David, no pressure, even though he has things to sell as well.
Once all the paperwork was done, Lance Maroney came out and ran through the features of my new car. Despite all the technology, Lance knew how all the bells and whistles worked. He also paired my phone and helped David install the all-​weather floor mats.
This was the most pleasant car buying experience I have ever had. If anyone is in the market for a new Lexus, I highly recommend Putnam. They certainly earned my business.

I was in the market to purchase a 2016 RX350 for my wife. I have been exchanging emails with Patrick Castano and overall received excellent service from him. While some other Lexus dealerships were able to match prices, Patrick was able to offer me a lower price without going through all the hassle of negotiation.
I definitely recommend going to Patrick if you’re looking to buy a Lexus. He’s honest and you will not be disappointed with his service.

Avoid this place like the plague! If you need *any* after sales support you’re screwed.
Bob and Jory won’t reply back to me via email so I went in to talk in person. Found Lorenzo who made me wait 15 minutes while I watched him shuffle paperwork around on his desk (even though store was empty). They still play games even after you’ve bought the vehicle. *Still* dealing with open issue. Brian in service originally told me some pretty baloney things, but ultimately was helpful even though I still have some concerns about my vehicle that I’m having another mechanic look into.
I still have some questions about tech features on the vehicle, but don’t want to call Putnam because my blood pressure now goes up whenever I have to talk with them.
Lexus as a vehicle brand is pretty good. My LX 570 is basically a glorified Toyota 4Runner, is extremely comfortable, and I really enjoy it. Just avoid this particular dealership at all costs. Absolutely no one there will take ownership of any issue. The corporate culture there is shallow and no one really cares about anything. They are the stereotypical car dealers that everyone lambastes.

After you purchase the car, they have this wonderful nice gentleman, Alex show you how to use all the features of the vehicle.

This dealership is quite close to where I live and they were quite decent the first few times I went. It has gone a bit downhill since.
I brought my car in for servicing and paid a butt load to get my car detailed. There were some issues with the brakes and they couldn’t figure out what the issue was. They asked whether or not it was ok to bring my car home so that they could test it out some more.
A day or two later, they called letting me know that they couldn’t figure out what the issue was and that if my brakes still sounded weird to let them know and they’ll look into it again. I picked up my car and noticed that:
1. My beige seats (just detailed) were completely marked up. Someone had stepped all over the seats (big workmen boot shoe prints). There were also marks all over the back of passenger and driver seats along with oil marks on the passenger seat shoulder area and elbow area of the driver seat. I guess no one decided to do any inspections before giving the car back to me…
2. A spare change coin wallet hidden in the center console «disappeared.»
3. I subsequently had to go back to the dealership because a black brake wire was visible in the front driver tire.
I was quite shaken and angry and went back to the dealership. The person helping me was quite nice. As it was my word against theirs as to how much money was stolen from my console, they comped me a few things. I subsequently went back after a few months to claim a free oil change offered to me as part of the comp.
I went to pick up my car and noticed that there was a note placed on my dash that my floor mats were not regulation floor mats and that the mats had been placed in my trunk.
Fine. Not too happy but fine. I grabbed the mats out of my trunk and noticed that the individual had just picked up the mats (complete with leaves, rocks, other random floor mat junk) and dumped it in my trunk all over the bags and jackets I had in my trunk!!!
Not cool guys! Shame luxury car dealership!

I financed my first big girl purchase on my own credit on a 2016 Lexus IS 200T F Sport in Ultra White. Victor Lu hooked me up with a great deal and he was an amazing salesman! He’s not pushy and he doesn’t make you feel pressured. He asked me what my dream car was over the phone and gave me the pricing breakdown. I was interested right away and asked if I could come in the same day. A couple hours later, I drove off the lot with my dream car. I literally came in around 4pm and left around 6:30−7pm in the car that I wanted including the car getting buffered and polished and training on the perks and benefits of the car by Lance.

We recently celebrated my wife’s birthday with a new Lexus from Putnam. With price comparisons now widely available online, it’s the ‘sales experience’ that distinguishes one dealer from another. Andy Li (sales) and Tong Truong (finance) provided an exceptional encounter! Andy accommodated us with multiple test drives of different models. Tong completed our transaction efficiently and with a great sense of humor.
We discovered one minor problem after arriving home– someone (likely a visitor, as we had selected a model on display in the showroom) had made off with the original factory-​issued gearshift hand-​grip (these things are easy enough to unfasten), exchanging it for one my wife recognized as not belonging to the vehicle. No worries! Tong replaced it immediately the following day.

Walk in and the service rep Rick David find a recall and my IS250 and proactively take care of business. Tis is the type of service that other dealership service centers needs to exhibit.

Just had an outstanding experience at Putnam Lexus! Thanks to Victor I am now the owner of my very own lexus hybrid! As the youngest of 4 I’ve only ever had hand-​me-​downs, the process of picking out my own car was a little intimidating. Victor made the process so easy! He got to know my needs and personality and helped me pick out the perfect pre-​owned but low mileage hybrid that would be easy for my long (120 mile per day) drive but also keep me comfortable. Victor was a real straight shooter and I never felt like I was dealing with a car salesman.
Once my decision was made, Josh in finance helped me with the rest. Again, SO helpful. Josh made the financial part seem straight forward, how could that even be?

I recently purchased a used BMW from Putnam, found via Autotrader. I was eyeing a brand new Jetta but figured I’d go check this car out to see if it’s the real thing– and it was. The car was clean and in perfect condition.
Almas did a great job in making this process as painless as possible. He wasn’t pushy (actually saw the car earlier that week and they didn’t spam my phone like other dealerships!) and really understood that this is my first big purchase so gave me time to think about it. He was very accommodating and gave me an excellent deal (after some negotiations of course).
Bottom line– Glad I went to Almas and Putnam. I’m not regretting not getting the Jetta, and I’m very in love with my new car. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thanks again Almas!

Every car I wanted to see … They said «how soon do you want it. We can get it by next week?»
So hard to get the new car smell right from the lot! Nice staff and manager though I can’t really speak to the negotiation process bc there was none.
