Kim’s Tae Kwon DO

When my daughters expressed interest in taekwondo, I found this place and Master Kim let me take the same class right along side them. So much better than just sitting there as I get a workout as well. While most of the students are children, there are is a percentage who are 18 — 55 years old. I also just enjoy sharing an activity with my girls. Master Kim is very nice and an excellent teacher.
To address the others, I have no clue if he ran a background check on that guy or not but if wouldn’t have turned up anything if he did. He started working at the studio around 18-​years-​old and had a clear record.

Wu K. Kim ran a studio in Menlo Park for many years. In the early 1990s one of his instructors, Kenneth Wayne Roberts, pleaded no contest to 30 counts of molesting boys he was teaching and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Now, in November 2013, an instructor at the same Mr Kim’s Tae Kwon Do Academy in Woodside Plaza, Ralph «Eugene» Todd, has (according to the sources below) pleaded no contest to molestation and child pornography charges and will be sentenced to three years and eight months.
It was almost 20 years between the two cases, which is obviously a long time. But surely Kim should have learned his lesson. He could have run background checks on his employees and made sure that no instructor is ever alone with a child. Lightning has struck twice.

Parents beware. This establishment has very poor business practices. After verbally canceling my child from the academy with the owner and he verbally stating I would be canceled.
The third party contract holder has continued to bill me 180.00/month through Global Membership the third party billing company.
When I called global membership they stated my membership was not cancelled by Kim’s Taekwondo.
When I called Kim’s listed numbers both the RWC and mountain the calls were redirected to other numbers and voice mails. Mr. Kim stated I needed to call the billing company and cancel with them and then stated i have a one year contract!
when I asked Mr. Kim why he failed to inform me of this upon my cancellation 2 months prior. He stated «he just teaches» uh, yeah and collects large sums of money on locked in contracts without full disclosure.
This place is a MONEY PIT!!! PARENTS beware if your children are young– canceling will be 4 hours of phone tags, call redirection and ignorance to any accountability from the owner who is happily collecting membership money and will redirect you to call Global Membership Services who will forward you to voicemail!
And if you move better make sure its at least 25 miles away otherwise you are still contracted.

Mr. Kim will only upgrade your belt to collect more money for his competitions.

I just took my first class with this studio, and had a great workout. The staff is friendly and my instructor ran a fun, challenging class. A good way to start learning tae kwon do in an unintimidating atmosphere.

A child was sexually molested at this business. The owner of the business was warned of problems but did not take action.

This owner should not be allowed to continue operating a business that caters to children. Current customers should take action immediately to distance themselves from the organization.
