John Young, PhD, works as an independent contractor providing discovery, research, development, and registration support to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. With Velimer Kuftinec, PhD, MBA, he has semi-​annually taught ‘The Drug Development Process’ course at UC Berkeley Extension for about ten years. Able to educate whatever level of interested individual (from the experienced scientist to biotech human resource professional), they use their extensive knowledge, experience, network, and humor to convey the fundamentals of drug development (from the science to the regulations). Having taken the one-​week course upon multiple recommendations, I too would highly recommend it or their expertise. I particularly enjoyed going through various drug development case studies. I really learned a lot and appreciated the comprehensive overview of a field where I am currently focused on a small silo. Like NPR’s Tom and Ray’s «Car Talk,» John and Vel enthusiastically and knowledgably teach what could be considered «Clinical Talk.» And so I hope others might tune in … although it does help when your company foots the bill.
