Description

Specialties

Shiatsu or Acupressure is a therapeutic hand-healing method from Japan which is effective for the relief of pain and stress. The practitioner supports and empathizes with the receiver’s inner drive to recover by balancing the distribution of the life force in the body through touch and finger pressure. This process brings relief to physical and emotional pain, promotes wellness and the spontaneous healing of muscular, skeletal or internal dysfunction.

History

Established in 1978.

My business is my hands. At 11 years old in 1958, my mother placed my hands on her head and requested help with severe headaches. It worked. I became aware of our life force field.

1970 in London, I observed a Shiatsu master work and realized schools in Japan cultivated hand healing.

One San Francisco morning in 1978, I read the famous practitioner Shizuto Masunaga was in town. I called his hotel and asked to study with him in Tokyo. He laughed and refused due to my poor Japanese. So my wife and I moved to Tokyo and went to his clinic. He laughed again and accepted me. My part time practice in Tokyo surged to full time by 1980.

A Psychologist visiting Japan invited me to teach Shiatsu in Menlo Park in 1986. Soon after we settled here. A month later I was busy. In 1987 an Osteopathic Dr. and friend offered me office space and we shared a glorious 6 years working together. In 1993 I moved my Shiatsu practice to Portola Valley for 21 years.

This year 2014, I relocated to Redwood City.
