Donut World

I buy donuts here from time to time for the people I work with.
The donuts are okay, just okay.
The shop itself is run down, dirty and cluttered with all kinds of crap.
The last reviewer mentioned trying their OJ… I would never trust this place on that level.
Donuts is as far as I’ll go and no one has gotten sick yet.
The coffee used to be really good but now the coffee area is run down, dirty & crusty.
They are obviously just milking this spot for its last dime with no upgrades or cleaning planned.
The place makes okay donuts, that’s it.

Out of the many donuts and croissants I have eaten over the last year I have to say Donut World (aka Happy Donuts) at 820 Veterans Blvd produces some of the lowest quality donuts anywhere to be found. This includes comparisons with both packaged and fresh donuts.
While the items might look good in the case, the texture and taste absolutely destroy any please you might have derived from them.
Fore example. The Crueller looks ok. Not great but just OK. However, they taste bland. How does a donut shop make a Crueller taste bland?!? The texture is somewhat stiff for Crueller. After a few chews yourmouth is left in a state of being coated with both a greasy feeling, and a dry flour dust feeling at the same time. The sad thing is orange juice does not have the ability to easily cut away the coating from your mouth. You are left wanting to scrape your tongue on the nearest curb in an effort to get rid of the experience.
The croissant was not better. Other than looks I would rate their croissant as one of the worst in the bay area.
In you have to stop Donut World (aka Happy Donuts) then go for the prepackaged items. Otherwise stop by any of the better donut and bakery establishments in the area. This location rate one of my few single-​starred review on Unilocal
