Developing a building is an enormous project, and Gilliland Architects is well-​equipped to do so. The lead architect, Dana Gilliland, helped us build our home in the Miracle Mile, which is deemed an HPOZ (Historical Preservation Overlay Zone), meaning the red tape to get anything done is downright egregious.
While many may view architects as simply artists, an architect’s greatest tool is his/​her expertise and ability to navigate through red tape and turn a concept into a reality. He is an expert on building codes and spoke the «language» with the city’s planners. A lesser architect would not have been able to obtain a green light for our vision as smoothly as Gilliland Architects did.
Dana was a consummate professional. His blueprints were beautiful and detailed, and he was always punctual with his work product and for meetings … and there were MANY! He’s a talented and incredibly wonderful person.

From a structural engineering point of view, as well as having many years collaborating with numerous Architects. One can easily identify the Architects that put in their passion, commitment, and dedication to achieve the best results to benefit the client. Mr. Gilliland and his team have achieved a balance of those, not only in their design methodology, but in their approach to construction. Elaborating a complex design, while finding alternatives to reduce construction cost, ultimately achieving the intended results. Mr. Gilliland’s vast experience, but yet simplistic approach is difficult to find in architects now days. The majority seek a masterpiece at the expense of the client, while Gilliland Architects maintain a good balance of reality and clients intended budget.
