Business Owner

Hanieh Arefian, is the creative force behind Arefian Atelier. She holds a MFA in Interior Design from a top ten design school, New York School of Interior Design, and a B. S in Architectural Engineering. She is an Allied Member of The American Society of Interior Designers. In 2009, She was awarded for Reception Station Design– Hosted by Pringle-​Ward Associates.

We recently remodeled our bathroom with Hanieh. To be honest, Hanieh is a HEADACHE to deal with. She is not able to keep track of her invoices and does not accept blame for her mistakes. She took offense when we questioned her invoice and tried to play off her mistakes like they were nothing. She is very demeaning as well. She thinks she is above her customers and we actually got into screaming matches over the phone. Below is from her email to us:
«Having never worked with an interior designer before, I sense that you do not value my services and are more interested in acquiring items at the cheapest price possible. You cannot have it both ways and I have been more than fair with my time and pricing. I have provided you an invaluable service of making your concept come to reality. My creative design, problem-​solving, research, resources and expediting have to be compensated. Going forward, your budget being what it is, you cannot afford my services any longer.»
We needed someone who would take the time to listen to our needs and work with us to finish this project. Hanieh was the exact opposite and dropped us halfway through. We went $ 5000 over our budget, but wouldn’t have minded if she had done a good job. I would not deal with Hanieh. Go with someone else. She’s not worth the time.

I lived in Southern California many years and have nothing to say but amazing stuf about Arefian Atelier and Hanieh. If I were in NPB this is definitely one of my choices. THere are a few others I reviewed too but if you love someone super tech savvy and great ethics (not to mention style!) She’s the woman for you! Highly recommend! If you’re in this area I’d go with her or the other one i reviewed positively on Unilocal.And that’s it.

I have worked with Hani as an associate in the retail furniture industry and have hired her to assist me at times with her CAD knowledge and creative input. She has excellent technical skill utilizing all of the latest computer technology to convey design concepts and solve remodel and architectural problems. I am impressed at how quickly she can assess solutions to problems and the level of tastefulness that she brings to every project that she does.

When looking for an interior designer you want someone with an impeccable taste. Arefian Atelier’s founder, Hanieh has created an incredibly beautiful home and home office, which gives you a very good idea how she is going to give you the best. She listens and understands what you are looking for and then makes it happen. She is a dream of a person and I trust her! She has such enthusiasm for her work, very detail oriented.
She can hang a picture for you or design an entire house with your architect. She will find you furniture, carpets, window coverings, paint colors and even pictures. She always follows up and you will never wonder when something will be delivered or completed. She’s equipped with really cool interior design accessories, fine abstract art and some really great taste. I can’t wait to see her new ventures and new design line up. I highly recommend Arefian Atelier. It’s definitely worth stopping by!

I was introduced to Arefian atelier by a friend who hired Ms. Arefian to design her wedding. Everything was so beautifully arranged, and my friend had nothing but the best to say regarding Ms. Arefian’s style and work-​ethic, that I decided to take the plunge and hire Ms. Arefian to design my new office.
So now with my results… I am very happy with the outcome! Ms. Arefian’s design style is of the highest caliber– she brings a modern and chic style straight from NYC, but with a professional and comfortable look and feel. She listened to my concerns as a healthcare provider (I did not want my office to lose the «medical look»), and my patients have complimented the new look of the office.
She was very prompt and met all deadlines that we had set. Overall, the process was very easy for me with no hassle.
I look forward to working with her again when I plan on redesigning my home in the next few years.
