DJ’s To Go

I spoke to business owner last month over email. On the last email he offered to call me that same da in the afternoon/​early evening to make an appointment and to further answer questions. To this date I never received a call, voice mail, or even a text. I did however receive an email asking if I was still interested and with all quotes and prices. I noticed they pumped up the price of their mini package. I replied to the email of making them aware of what happened and that believe it’s unacceptable. Their response is that name doesn’t seem to be familiar then they explained that they had to raise their prices like everyone else. Surprisingly they only raised the price on their mini package. Then they told me to have a nice wedding. I’m glad I found out of what kind of customer service is provided by the owner before I even booked.

Tim was the perfect DJ for our wedding! He has tons of experience, and was able to gauge the mood just right for the cocktail hour and dining. It takes a certain intuition to be able to host the ambient mood of the room through music. Volumes subtly adjusted for toasts, fun turned up for dancing, and all the while respecting the list of songs and genres we gave him. Thank you so much Tim!

I am actually a competitor with DJs to Go, but have nothing negative to say about Tim. We recently had coffee together at a Memorial ceremony in Redondo Beach he worked, and it turned out as I donate time to Boxer Rescue he was helping out the Bagwan friends.
Sure, when your name is known around town,(I’ve done this since we used vinyl) there will unfortunately be competitors or as the kids say ‘haters’ and the disingenuous phrasing of their reviews is usually apparent and filled with misspellings. Unilocal is also notorious for ‘hiding’ too many good reviews but ignoring obviously fake negative reviews. Take it with a grain of salt. I have a 2 inch thick BOOK of actual letters of praise from real, actual brides and grooms and I am sure Tim has letters as well. The moral is: try and play nice kids. There’s enough work for all of us.

I would whole heartedly recommend Tim Bentor and Dj’s to go for any event or wedding.
We hired Tim as our DJ for our recent wedding 6÷21÷2014 on the Queen Mary. We met with him initially to discuss our requests and find out pricing options. He was very up front with costs and what would be included. There were no fees for additional services it was very clear and he was easy to talk with. He answered all of our questions and was very professional.
We gave him an idea of what type of music and songs we wanted (and didn’t want) and he totally respected our requests! It was fun to hear our customized play list through out the reception. We requested everything from Sinatra to Bruno Mars. Our older family members loved the Bratt Pack feel during dinner and then he mixed it up with contemporty songs, swing and everything in between!
He also acted as our MC for the evening. He was great at keeping the party going with general announcements, games to auction off centerpieces, announcing our arrival, speeches and cake cutteing etc. He was great with the order and flow of the music choices. He had a small lighting element for the dance floor and the equipment provided (microphones, speakers etc.) worked without any glitches (as far as I noticed anyway).
In researching other DJ’s I found that DJ’s To Go offered the best value for their services. I was very happy with DJ’s to go. Professional, reliable and fun! We loved our wedding and everyone danced until we were kicked off the dance floor!

I used DJ’s to go for my wedding September of last year. Tim, the owner, was our dj. He did an excellent job. Played all the good music our guests wanted to hear and really added to the entertainment value of our event. I highly recommend DJ’s To Go and would use them again!

Tim was the DJ at a wedding I officiated at tonight, and he was such a pleasure to work with!
As an officiant, it is critical that the DJ is able to coordinate sound and music accurately to flow with the wedding ceremony. Tim was one step ahead of my questions! It is so refreshing to work with someone so professional and personable!
I stayed for the reception, and Tim emceed the event with passion and finesse! I can tell the families were truly entertained and happy with him and his great energy!
I really hope to work with Tim again soon! He is a great compliment to all wedding vendors.

Unfortunately, this happens all too often — a business owner gets offended and defensive instead of admitting fault and attempting to fix a problem. Rather than reply to my first email in which I forwarded my original correspondance and booking contract from 2008 to attempt to clear up what I thought was a miscommunication, or my second email which basically said «hey, haven’t heard from you… just making sure my email didn’t get lost,» he came on Unilocal to post bogus information presumably in an attempt to discredit any negative reviews.
It makes me bummed when business owners do this, as it shows a lack of understanding or trust in the whole consumer internet revolution — which is understandable, of course, but choosing not to familiarize oneself with how this stuff operates has already put many a business under. It’s not the first time I’ve been «attacked» by a business owner, essentially stating that I’ve made up everything and am an insider/​being paid/​whatever. This is a distressingly common reaction among businesses, where all they can think to do is to attempt to undermine a reviewer in the worst way they can think of, in the hopes that readers will ignore all the bad reviews as «fake.»
What I wish they’d understand is that this almost always backfires, especially in a setting like Unilocal where most users understand how the system works. Most readers will see defensive responses for what they are, and have respect for those few businesses that respond to negative reviews with apologies and/​or calm explanations and an invitation to try again.
On a personal note, it’s just plain mean. If you wouldn’t say it privately to me in an email, why say it publicly on Unilocal?Don’t ignore all attempts from your customer to help clear things up (not my responsibility, by the way — I was trying to be accommodating and nice) and then take to a public forum to hurl insults.
