Juniper Golf Course, designed by John Harbottle III is rated the Best Municipal Golf Course in the State of Oregon. Juniper is 7,200 yards with a 73.8 rating and a 133 slope. Juniper Golf Course was named the 2010 facility of the year by the OGA and has hosted the 2007 and 2010 Oregon Open. We are a full service facility with a driving range, chipping green with bunker and large practice putting green. Our Pro Shop can fulfill all your golfing requirements and our PGA Golf Professional Bruce Wattenburger can help you with your individual golfing needs.

The View Restaurant — which lives up to its name featuring fantastic panoramic views of the Cascade Mountain Range is available for all types of functions. Relax on our patio during the season and enjoy our great food and service all year long. The private Banquet Room seats 75 comfortably and is available for meetings, events and all celebrations.

History

Established in 1951.

Organized and incorporated in October of 1951, Juniper opened officialy for play in 1952 as a nine hole course. Clubhouse was rebuilt in 1964 after a fire and updated again in 1973. Course upgraded to 18 holes in 1987. In 1995 the future plans for a highway bypass were clear and the course had to move locations. 177 acres of BLM land on the South east side of the Deschutes County Fairgrounds was allocated for the new course. In 2004 we opened in our new location and have received numerous awards for our design and difficulty.

My brother brought us here and boy oh boy was it great! We ate at the View, which is open to the public, and I had the best Kailua pulled pork sandwich I have ever eaten, which includes Hawaii. The sweet potato fries were fresh and tummy. You must go and eat there. Wait staff is wonderful.

I played this course today and it was one of the nicest golf courses I have played in awhile. The fairways were in such great condition, the ball just sits on top of the grass. The greens were in great shape, very few ball marks for a public course. I found every hole interesting, long par 5’s, substantial par 4’s and some challenging par 3’s. The pro shop staff could not have been nicer. I look forward to my next round at Juniper Golf.

We were married here in 2014. We were delighted with the entire experience. A year later and we still get compliments on the food. Service was excellent and no details were missed. A great place to have a meal, a drink, or a wedding!

Played Juniper yesterday (⁷⁄₁₆). Very nice, well maintained golf course situated among the junipers and lava rock formations so prevalent in the eastern part of the state.
All holes a pretty much straight away, not anything that one might call a dog leg. Fairways are pretty wide with just a suggestion of green rough. I mention «green» rough, because a badly hit and errant shot can easily wind up in those afore mentioned junipers and lava rocks and be totally unplayable.
There is one small lake, or maybe it should be called a large pond, on the course that only comes into play on two holes (water never crosses the fairways, just borders the fairway). We used a cart but mainly because of the heat (99 when we finished), but the course is «walk» friendly. Juniper has it’s share of sand in the form of both bunkers and traps, but the sand is excellent and very playable (unlike the Portland rain drenched traps I am used to).
To me the greatest «hazard» presented by the course is the greens! They are in great shape, mind you, but are fast, slick and very difficult to read — so spend your practice time on the putting green if you really want to score.
I don’t want to end this without saying something about the staff. They are friendly, courteous and very helpful.
I am returning to the area again in both August and September and look forward to playing Juniper again.

Juniper is a great, challenging course in Redmond. Our foursome bought the green fee on
and for $ 40, it also included a cart. It’s a great course, always in good shape, and a good value compared to other courses in the area. It’s located a whopping 2 minute drive from downtown and you can’t beat the location. They also have a natural grass driving range and good restaurant to grab a brew after a solid round.

Was my first time golfing here. Horrible service. Rude (old) lady on the beverage cart. Very rude golf pro giving lessons to someone else. Kicked off the practice green because we were chipping on and didn’t know there was a separate green for that that had no holes to putt into after chipping some on. The practice green was not in a very convenient place a long way from the first hole. Very narrow course. lost a lot of balls. not very scenic. much better courses in Central Oregon to go to. Will never go back.
