Edge & Spoke Redmond

I highly recommend this shop! I spent about a week asking questions, and test riding bikes in order to find the best bike! They were so patient and continued to be a huge support through out the whole process. I now have an amazing bike and am so thankful for this shop. Definitely check them out, you won’t regret it.

I originally went to this shop to purchase an S-​Works crankset and have them fit it to an S-​Works Tarmac I was building up. They were the closest Specialized dealer, but it turns out this is THE place to go. I’ve since bought a bike from them, got my girlfriend to buy a bike from them, and had them do a bike fit for me. Everything was perfect. Venny, the owner, is a great guy. Very knowledgeable and does a great bike fitting. My fitting was done by Jack. I’ve never felt as comfortable on a bike as I do now. Jack is one of the fastest riders around, so he’ll steer you to what actually works.

Starting with meeting Jack at the Seattle Bike Show, then meeting Ben who showed me lots op options only after listening to what I was looking for, and today getting my fitting with Vanny, the owner, this shop knows what they are doing. I have a few «issues» with age and fit, and they got me onto a new road bike at a very reasonable price point and got it set up so I can ride 50+ miles with ease! Thanks!

I didn’t have a long experience with Edge & Spoke. I came in with my newly bought second-​hand snowboard to get it waxed, and they happily informed me that it was recently waxed and didn’t need anything done to it. I mentioned I was catching some edges, and they took a look at the edges and carved off anything that might be the cause for free. Great customer service and I’m glad they were honest with me, definitely will come back here when I do actually need a wax on the board!

What a great place

Totally blown away by the customer service at Edge and Spoke. I have been working with Jack and Michael, & they definitely have a customer for life. Everyone who works there is passionate about bikes & skis and it shows.
My goal this season was to crank out some long rides, so bike fit it important. I have been fit in the past by different PTs, and they did a fine job, but the bike fit provided by Jack @ Edge and Spoke takes it to another level.
For my road bike, Jack spent close to 3 hours evaluating my fitness, flexibility, and getting the exact fit dialed in on their special fit bike. Post completion of the evaluation, Jack transfers all of the measurements to your bike and provides you a detailed report for the future.
Since the fit, I have never experience a bike that fit like a glove like this. I have done 7 – 8 rides since the fit and have experience zero back pain (a chronic issue for me in the past). I can’t stress enough how well this was done.

We came here looking for rental skis right around closing time on Sunday night on a holiday weekend. Basically a worst-​case scenario for a small rental operation — they’re low on stock and the employees want to go home. We were treated very well despite our tardiness, and the staff went out of their way to find boots and skis that fit us. Everyone was very friendly, and they walked us through the whole process (which was significant because two of our party are going skiing for the first time ever). Definitely coming back.

I’m a sports medicine MD in the community, and Edge & Spoke is where I refer patients when they are looking for a bike that fits their needs. Edge & Spoke has rebranded from their prior name, as the former store manager Brian «Venny» Venable purchased the shop in early 2014.
I like to think of Edge & Spoke as «my bike shop.» As a cycling enthusiast, it’s nice to have a shop that you think of as your home base. I’ve lived in other communities where I did patron a local bike shop, but did not feel a kinship with the management. Rather, they just happened to be the bike shop closest to where I lived. I don’t feel that way about Edge & Spoke. To me, they feel like part of my cycling family, and I know that if I have a cycling need, they are where I will go.
Here are some particular things that I like about the way Venny and his team run their bike shop
1. Sales through service:
I first met the Edge & Spoke team two years ago when I first moved to the Redmond/​Bellevue area. I was looking for a new commuter bike for my 8 mile ride to work. I already had a nice road bike and a serviceable mountain bike, but I wanted a bike that could handle the weather, hills, and night conditions in the area. Because I was planning to ride the bike frequently, I set a high budget for what I was willing to spend.
At every other bike shop I went to, I found that the sales people were focused on selling me something as close as possible to the upper end of my budget. I didn’t mind that approach necessarily, since I was open about my budget, but it was clear their sales algorithm was designed to maximize profit.
I had a very different experience when I met Mason at Edge & Spoke. He spent about 30 minutes interviewing me about the specifics of my needs, asking thoughtful questions about the details of my commute, and the specifics of which route I was taking to work. He then made a point of DOWNSELLING me to a bike that was about ²⁄₃ of the cost I what I was willing to spend, but he thought was a better fit for what I needed.
He then spent about an hour fitting me on the bike. It was the most thorough fitting I’ve ever had on a bike, and included swapping out some parts to make the bike a better fit.
Two years later, I can say that Mason’s advice was correct– I love the bike he recommended, and it’s added greatly to me enjoying my bike commute. I also appreciate that he placed my needs ahead of just making a sale. The next time I needed to make a bike purchase, they had earned my loyalty, and I made a point of only shopping with the Edge & Spoke team.

2. Know what you are– don’t try to be too much.
At Edge & Spoke, they primarily sell Specialized brand bikes. At first I was surprised that they didn’t sell 20 different types of bicycles. However, when the Edge & Spoke team shared their logic, it made sense to me. The strength of the shop is that they are a small, intimate shop that provides the best service. By limiting their scope to fewer manufacturers, that allows them to be great at everything they sell. Specialized is a great company with a diverse line that meets nearly every cycling need, so they wouldn’t gain much by having the comparable bikes from other manufacturers like Cannondale and Trek– it would really lead to duplication of inventory.
By staying focused, it allows the team to be experts on all things Specialized. I’ve been in the store several times when the team has been talking to a customer, and they were able to give very specific details about the Specialized supply chain, things like «they over-​ordered on the 2013 model, so on March 3 that model should be available at discount.» By narrowing the market, the Edge & Spoke team is able to provide better service and value on what they do sell.

3. Sweating the small details
I remember when I purchased my first bike at Edge & Spoke, Venny offered me a free branded water bottle. I told him I didn’t need one, since I had plenty at home, and then Venny told me about the thought and product testing they did to find the best water bottle on the market. So I took one, and he was right– it’s a great water bottle.
This is a small detail, but it also gives insight into the way Venny thinks. Many places blow off details like which vendor they should use for their water bottle, but this is clearly something he put thought into. Also, he was excited to share the product to make me happy– by giving me a free water bottle, he made was not making any money. He was simply trying to make me a happier customer.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with Edge & Spoke, and highly recommend them

I came in the other day with a bike problem that I didn’t notice until I was on the road, so I suppose it was sort of an emergency. One of the guys said bring it on in and within minutes had me back on the road. I was so grateful for them to squeeze me in even through they were busy with other bikes and customers. It only cost me $ 11 and I was worry free. Thanks guys! What a great place this is!!!

Best customer service backed by a team of knowledgeable staff. Level of service & fair price exceeded my expectation. Guidance in selection & usage of products were invaluable during the process of choosing a new bike & accessories. They have my sincere vote for the best team & bike shop in town.

Go here if you have money to spend I guess. Getting in their location, I don’t blame them for their lack of sensitivity about money :) I went there today for getting screws for my speedplay frog cleats. The staff understood why spd screws were not working. The only option he gave me was «I can sell you new cleats for $ 40 with a 20% discount». Really? Is that a good deal? Would he do it if it was hinself making this decision? I asked I would buy these but can he order for a few screws. He said he is not sure. He will call speedplay and check tomorrow. Then just rang me up and did not even get my phone number. How is going to reach me if and when he calls speedplay?
He did say what I already knew. I can look up the screw specs and buy from Tacoma screws. I can buy online for sure. So no value add there.
Comparing this with performance cycles bellevue yesterday. I asked for the screw, he gave a spd screw from a new box and said he ll order another one and replace it. And he did not charge me anything.
So Nett Nett, go to this place if you have money to spend. I am kicking myself for spending 35 bucks to get 2 screws. Maybe I ll return it.

Fabulous place. I had a bike assembled and fitted for my wife. Very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Had all the extras needed for the new bike. I will be back.

Love this shop. The staff are knowledgeable, down to earth and friendly. When I purchased a new bike from them, they took a considerable amount of time to properly fit me to it, iterating over several rounds of measurements and adjustments. Despite being new to the cycling world, everyone here made me feel welcome, helped answer questions, and walked me through all of the basics; most of this going above and beyond what you would expect for a cycle shop. I was really impressed with the level and quality of customer service.

Great shop — the owner & staff are very experienced with the differences in gear styles, and can make great recommendations. Their prices are very competitive, and their selection is varied.

Highly recommend this place based on their outstanding service! Venny is very knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are reasonable and they have a wide variety to their inventory.

I’ve bought two sets of skis here and also had two pair of boots fitted. Every experience has been great! The guys treat you well and know there stuff. I would highly recommend this local shop. They are great about taking care of their loyal customers!

What quickly struck me after I went and visited Edge & Spoke was the fact that the people there knew bikes and cycling. I told friends of mine to go to the shop to find their first bike, and they decided to go visit two other stores before finally going to E&S. They told me they ended up purchasing a Ruby & Roubaix from Edge & Spoke because Jack clearly knew more than any of the people they’d spoken to at other shops. That speaks volumes to me about the quality and care provided by the staff there, and I’m sure they would’ve had the same experience with anyone else in the shop.
I first started riding last July and have always been told how important a bike fit is, but over 12,000 miles of riding I’ve never made the time to get one. That finally changed this morning when Jack fit me at Edge & Spoke.
Quick summary of the fit: after taking measurements and checking my flexibility off the bike, Jack found out my right leg is shorter than my left. Once I got on the bike, he identified my knee angles were less-​than-​optimal and my knees tended to collapse in on my pedal stroke. He lowered my seat, put wedges in the forefoot of my shoes to adjust my foot angle (and thus knee angle), and added a shim to my right cleat to account for leg length discrepancy.
I thought it’d take a while for my body to adjust to the changes, but on the commute home from work today, I couldn’t help but think about how incredibly comfortable I felt on the bike. I wasn’t necessarily uncomfortable before, but I know riding definitely didn’t feel as good as it does now. If you haven’t gotten a fit yet or it’s been a while since you had one, I HIGHLY recommend going to Jack at Edge & Spoke to get fit.

This is a high quality bike shop with a focus on customer satisfaction. A lot of shops carry the same brands, so what sets a shop apart is their service and friendliness. And in the friendly service category, this shop truly excels. This spring my wife and I purchased two bikes from Edge and Spoke bike shop. The customer service and consulting throughout the buying process was simply excellent. We decided to build up the bikes starting with framesets and Mason created a very helpful and detailed spreadsheet of everything we’d need for a complete bike build. He is very personable (much like everyone who works there) and worked closely with us to explain all the components and benefits of our choices prior to ordering everything. The final result was a bike build that exceeded our expectations. Not only do we love the bikes, but we love Edge and Spoke!
One thing that separates this shop from others, is that we were properly fit to the bike upon purchase. I’ve inquired at other shops about this and they want to charge for a bike fit. It seems to me that even more important than the bike is how it fits. My wife and I have ridden the heck out of these bikes all summer and we’ve never needed a fit adjustment after the initial one was complete.
The guys at this shop have always been there for anything we’ve needed post-​sale. For me, the service really starts after the sale has been closed and that’s why I waited 4 months to post this review. With any new bike, there are potential bugs that need to be worked out. Their only concern was that we were happy and went out of their way to resolve any concerns. Now, these bikes are fully dialed in and we’ve taken them on a couple of gravel tours and they’ve handled perfectly. Venny, Mason, Jack and Etienne all contributed to the process along the way to provide an awesome experience, and for that my wife and I thank you all very much.
