Brugge Chocolates

Ermagerd… Chocolate. Eramgerd… delicious…Ermagerd…5 stars…

I did not care for these chocolates at all! I was expected a rich, creamy, flavorful sweet and instead the chocolates were gritty and had a bit of an after taste that was not pleasant. I tried several different flavors and had the same experience.
I am going to stick with Franz!

Beautiful shop. Outstanding customer service. This is a specialty shop at its finest. Everything about the ambiance tells you that you’re in for a treat. The proof is in the tasting and every chocolate I’ve tried has been delightful. Some are surprising, some are traditional but they are all exceptional in quality and flavor combinations.

I’ve purchased chocolates and other items here for myself and as gifts, and I’m constantly impressed, and so are my recipients. I prefer subtle but rich taste, where I can tell the quality of the chocolate used is good and that the flavouring is made with care. I don’t like something too sugary, and I want a small, appealing bite.
Some of the flavours here are stunning; cardamom, orange thyme, praline, fleur de sel (amazing for such a simple and ubiquitous offering in chocolate shops), various liquor infused ones too, like Kahlua or Limoncello. There is always at least one chocolate being offered as a sample, which is nice, and Susan, the owner, is gregarious, knowledgeable and loves chocolate and if you want to try something else, they’re happy to help. She’s been professionally trained and I like her attention to detail; if it’s sloppy chocolate it’s a sample, and not sold.
The apricots and oranges that are candied and dipped in chocolate… oh my God. They seem too decadent, but I can’t get enough! Don’t get me started on their pâté de fruit… soft, full of flavour and topped with the right amount of sugar. I could become a glutton if I had unlimited access to them.
You can eat mediocre chocolate because the flavour is just so unique, but when you have had good chocolate there’s no mistaking it. No grittiness, good colour and depth, and a smaller bite satisfies because it’s got the profile you’re looking for. I don’t go crazy on sweets, I do like chocolate, but here a little goes a long way because it’s so good. The store is charming and immaculate, the people are helpful, the chocolate is made by a genuine chocolatier, the presentation of the pieces is straightforward and the packaging is simple and elegant. I’m glad I don’t live closer, because it would definitely become a vice of mine!

Popped in today for the first time after lunch (as my sweet tooth was a calling). Anyhow, I am so happy I stopped by — what a sweet little chocolate shop! (see what I did there?) Moving on. I believe the owner was working when I popped in. She could not have been nicer! She answered all the questions I had about their products. My friend LOVES orange and chocolate and though I do not agree with this terrible life choice, I do like to see my friend happy so I picked him up a chocolate covered orange slice. Two thumbs up & rave reviews from my pal. I purchased a couple small truffles (approx $ 2 each) and man are they tasty! Just the right amount of chocolate to take care of those pesky cravings.
I think I may have found my new go to place when I need a quick hostess, birthday, thank you, or special occasion gift. See you again soon!

Pricey but worth it.
I grew up in the Benelux (Belgium/​Netherlands/​Luxembourg area)… this tastes exactly like the Belgian chocolates that I used to get. The best chocolate I ever had in my life was from a chocolate shop in Brugge, so imagine my surprise when I find a store called Brugge Chocolates.
I get nostalgic and pig out when I go to this store.
I have to fight so hard because I go to Trader Joe’s every week for groceries.

Very pricey, but worth it. Amazing quality chocolates. Innovative and unique and very gourmet. If you want to impress somebody with fine truffles, this would be the place.
I bought several flavors. The standouts were the strawberry balsamic and the cardamom. The strawberry balsamic included a gelee layer. Really unique and amazing.
It loses out on one star because some of the flavors were a bit too subtle for me.

His has become my go to shop in Redmond for gifts for friends and employees because everyone who tastes the chocolates are as amazed as I was the first time I found Brugges. My husband and daughter know were to go for gifts for Mothers Day, Valentine’s Day and my birthday. My favorite is the raspberry balsamic truffle, but the chocolate candied orange slices are unbelievable. Superb, just keeps getting better.

Amazing small artisan chocolate shop. Small batch chocolates with interesting flavors. Great experience for a date with my hubby.

In my opinion the chocolates here are some of the best in Seattle. Their product is much more refined than most of the other chocolate chain options out there, with gorgeous flavors like Bananas Foster (my personal fav), Limonchello, and salted caramel. Hand dipped chocolate fruit (like apricots) and peels are also worth visiting for (in fact, I was there just today to buy chocolate dipped ginger).
I personally don’t care for more mainstream chocolates like the sort you find at Oh! Chocolates… those pieces are too large, the flavors are too separate from the shells, and they’re too obviously sugary. Brugge is the exact opposite… smaller bites of perfectly blended, fresh flavors.
Since I’ve been going to Brugge, the owner has bothered to learn my name and my favorite flavors, she is more than generous in offering full samples of her products that I might not have tried yet, and I appreciate that the chocolates are literally hand crafted right there behind the shopfront.
Don’t expect the chocolates here to be dirt cheap (you don’t get quality products like this for pennies), but it’s a treat worth the investment and, after trying every other chocolate producer in the Seattle greater area, I can honestly call Brugge my favorite. Go buy some chocolate and enjoy!

Wow! This is so goooood chocolates! I had Salted Caramel, Earl Grey, and praline feuilleté. They all were just melting in my mouth and absolutely delicious! We were there on Sunday and usually they are closed. However, the owner was working on some big project in the store so she let us in. She was very kind and such a nice lady. Although they are a bit expensive, I would definitely go back there.
(1 star off for the price.)

Not cheap, but these are the best chocolates I’ve ever had. Unique and constantly changing flavors. I love the sampler boxes because there are two of each flavor, great to share with someone special. When I want the tastiest nicest chocolates available to give as a gift, this is where I always go. Can’t go wrong!

Great little place! Picked up an assortment of filled chocolates, fruit marmalades, dipped glazed apricots and chocolate dipped orange peels. Everything was just delicious! There was some kind of a truffle with white rum-​spiked filling that was absolutely amazing and we also loved the balsamic-​strawberry filled chocolates. The chocolate with rum-​filled chocolates would just melt in your mouth, like «buttah»! LOL Dipped apricots were melt-​in-​your-​mouth plump honeyed goodness dipped in velvety-​smooth chocolate. The fruit marmelades were full of flavor and felt very sort of natural, with perfect balance of sweetness and tang. Packaging was very beautiful and the chocolate truffles themselves looked wonderful — some with gold dust, some with pistachio crumbs or with pretty designs. I have already given these chocolates as gifts and planning on buying more boxes for Christmas treats.

I’m just baffled by the bad reviews that people have written here! My husband and I are huge into chocolate and this place is by far our favorite. We like it better than Frans and Godiva. It’s the best chocolate I’ve ever had! The chocolate is creamy and velvety smooth. They have fantastic flavors! Some of our favorites: Earl Grey, Praline, Orange Thyme, and Salted Caramel. It’s worth every dime! When we were in there today, we met a couple who told us they came to the store every week to purchase a box of 12!
I can’t believe someone accused them of being racist! Totally an inappropriate comment. The owner helped us out today and she was the sweetest, nicest person I’ve ever met! We’re of Asian descent, so I definitely don’t think she was racist! She cut up two types of truffles for us to sample and patiently explained all of the flavors to us. She helped us for a good 15 – 20 minutes. We were being indecisive and she was so sweet about it! She also told us a story about how she acquired one of the recipes while studying under a Belgian chocolatier. How cool is that?!
I told my husband that this is the only chocolate I want for special occasions from here on out!

My generous, love of my life, has treated me to some amazing combination boxes of Brugge Chocolates for occasions such as my birthday, Valentines Day and some of those «just because» occasions (where I know he’s the one who actually is craving chocolate). I have not once, been dissapointed!
Though I’ve never actually stepped foot in Brugge Chocolates, I find the flavor and presentation of the chocolates absolutely divine. A box never lasts more than an hour!
My ultimate favorite is the dark chocolate caramel. Even though I hate dark chocolate with a passion and am not big on ever mixing sweet and salty in one bite, these chocolates were heavenly!
I look forward to my birthday in December because I’m hoping (knock on wood) that he will remember to stop by Brugge Chocolates for my favorite box!

Little place across from Trader Joe’s, easy to miss. The quality of the chocolates is divine. And as my boyfriend says, that’s a word I don’t usually use. The word «Good» just didn’t fit. We bought an assortment of, limoncello, pistachio and cardamon. We were also given a sample of the pear and one with Earl Grey. Both of which were really good. Yes, you are going to pay more for these little morsels, flavors are subtle, but they are definitely a standard above Godiva or Dilletante.
The owner was gracious, helpful and friendly. I am sorry to see a negative review that threw in the word racism (Really
had to go there?). Totally not the case for us and I’m not white.
I also like the fact I can support our local independently owned businesses in Redmond.

Independent chocolate shop — homemade chocolates. All keywords that get me excited. Plus, the additional bonus is the wine pairings that you can get at this little shop. The service was FANTASTIC. You are offered a sample upon entering the store. There are so many fantastic sounding flavors, its hard to choose just a few. We tried the flavors and we weren’t fans of all of them. There were some flavors that were better than others. The coconut curry was good, the pear was a bit to perfumey flavored, the eggnog was good, the caramels were also good. The chocolates melt in your mouth and a perfect size. I like that they aren’t super sweet. Oh, Chocolates is still my favorite as their flavors are consistently strong. But, this shop has alot of great things going for it.

I must say, I agree wholeheartedly with Linda Grayson who said, «There’s nothing better than a good friend, except a good friend with CHOCOLATE.»
Doing my duty to be that very good friend, I popped into «Brugge Chocolates» in Redmond (right across the parking lot from my 5-​star favorite, Trader Joes!).
Imagine my delight! After all, this is a person who spent over $ 60 worth of Chocolate in Belgium this summer.
Stiff competition exists in the Chocolate category «Oh Chocolate!» is still my favorite. But the Marco Polo infused with Earl Grey Tea and the Limoncello are very good.
Their Pistachio Marzipan was good, but not potent enough with the Almond flavor I crave.
Suggested wine pairings are offered right there in the store.
Picked up a cute little Chocolate cell phone for a business gift.
Pumpkin and Egg Nog are the current seasonal varieties.

Ok, I just had the difficult job of pairing wines and the amazing truffles from Brugge. Seriously, it was very tough work. ;)
The owner is a professionally trained chocolatier, and her work is mind blowing. Apricot with lavender? Pear with pink peppercorn? Pistachio with cardamon? I got to try quite a few, and I cannot wait to try more.
While they aren’t cheap, you don’t need a lot to be satisfied. Seriously, I am in love with this place and if you are in the eastside area, run… don’t walk here.

I’ve been waiting for this place to open. There are not too many chocolatiers in Redmond, so I am happy that they are finally open! They have beautiful truffles with some interesting flavours.
Apparently, this place just opened up not too long ago, so I didn’t feel that everything was quite in place. However, the two ladies who worked there were very courteous and knowledgeable of their products.
I’ll definitely go back there to get more chocolate!
