Community Choice Credit Union

Been to this branch 4 times in the last 2 months. Not once in four times has the atm been working

To be fair, I am rating this credit union based off of my experience with my checking account that I hold with a credit union back in Pennsylvania. I am now in Michigan. Ever since being introduced to credit union world, I have said I will always bank with a credit union first. With that said, Community Choice Credit Union is the worst credit union I’ve ever dealt with. Their rates are nothing to look twice at, and their customer service has never been good. They closed my account based on an inquiry I had made about how one would go about closing it if need be. I did not give my written request or consent for this to be done. Very unhappy with the lack of communication here, and for as long as I held the account. About the only thing that worked well was mobile deposit. I’ve never seen a credit union offer less «good account» features than a «big bank». I’m switching to Huntington Bank which does have higher fees for NSF and overdrafts, but they also offer more ATM/​Branch locations for convenience, and offer 24-​Hour grace for overdrafts.
I would not recommend Community Choice Credit Union to anyone.

Being only 18 and opening my first checking account I wanted somewhere that didn’t charge monthly fees and that’s really the only thing I need at this point. My only issue is the ATM inside the CU never takes my checks or money when I’m trying to make a deposit so then I have to get in the long line inside or go to the drive thru. That’s my only complaint, but the people are always courteous and polite. I love this CU!

I have been a member of Community Choice CU since it was Research Federal CU — I’ve had my account since 1995. They’ve always been fairly easy to deal with, save for a few issues here and there.
My main reason for completing this review is the super-​tight fraud protection they have which saved me from tons of fraudulent charges. Very respectable and pleasant!

THE PEOPLE MAY BE NICE BUT FRANKLY THATS THEIR JOB ANYWAY. their rates are barly competetive, and forget geting cooperation from any one over the phone as they stricktly use call centers. If you just want to stick your money some where and forget it, this might be your bank. However if you actualy use your money or require services of any kind in under two bussiness days this C.U. will be nothing but total frustration for you…

I love this Credit Union. Everyone there is really helpful. I have been pretty stupid with my money (ordering online and getting suckered into scams) and they are always there to help me out with anything, I really like their staff.
