Specializing in freshly baked gluten free desserts, Measures of Joy uses original recipes that have been uniquely developed to taste like the real thing, maybe even better.

All products are Gluten Free! For dairy free, egg free or corn free feel free to ask us what we can do for you.

We offer catering for a variety of desserts and as well as cakes for Special Occasions and events. (2-​day notice for all catering orders).

Our customizable dry mix line is completely dairy free, egg free and does not contain any sugar or sweeteners at all so you have all the power to choose what version of sugar and how much you want to use.

Gluten-​Free Dry Mixes are now available at our Home bakery (call for appointment), Holiday Market in Redding on Placer Street and Hartnell, Holiday Market in Palo Cedro, Holiday Market in Cottonwood, Tops Market in Redding and Weaverville, Enjoy the Store downtown Redding and Redbluff, Turtle Bay Café, Kent’s Meats, and the Redding Farmer’s Market at City Hall, (April — Dec) or any day by calling us direct.

History

Established in 2011.

When Jennifer found out she could no longer eat wheat she searched for the perfect gluten free cookbook. For a while it was good enough because she could still have brownies and cookies. But the texture just wasn’t the same and she missed the soft textures in cakes and cookies that she used to enjoy. So she made a personal challenge for herself to master the texture, taste and mouth feel of the Chocolate Chip Cookie. When she accomplished that, she went on to Cake. Eight years she tested and tried all sorts of recipes and eventually came up with her own original recipes, skipping the traditional methods other gluten free cookbooks followed. Never did she dream or entertain the idea of starting a bakery. When her husband lost his job in the economy downturn, she looked to what she had in her hands to do. She asked herself what skills did she have that could produce an income? Gluten free baking was the answer and Measures of Joy was born.

Business Owner

Born and raised in Southern California, Jennifer married young and got starting a family out of the way quickly with three boys before her 25th birthday. Moved to Redding, Ca in late 2007 and opened Measures of Joy in late 2011.
