Do not ever go to taqueria Tonala in red oak! Our food is normally $ 18-$ 21. We went today and my mom came and our food was $ 43! I know my mom’s food was not $ 22! I am so angry right now. They gave us nasty guacamole from a bag, not the fresh delicious guacamole that they normally serve. We didn’t even eat the guacamole. It was that bad. We could have had sushi for what we paid. Nathan called to complain afterward and they admitted to him that they overcharged us by accidentally charging us an extra taco plate. We had to drive all of the way from Waxahachie back to red oak to get our refund. I would have asked for our money back for the guacamole too because we didn’t even eat it cause it was that bad! But I let Nate handle it and he didn’t want to get our money back for the uneaten guacamole. We cannot afford to eat out often and it just makes me angry that we could have had sushi for that price and Osuba is always amazing and I wouldn’t be mad right now! I will never go back there as long as I live, that’s a promise. So they just lost a loyal 6+ year customer…

When I eat Mexican, I like to judge the quality by the guiso if available. On this occasion, Tonala had Guiso de Puerco… Big mistake. Not only was it probably the worst guiso I’ve ever had, it was overly expensive! 8 dollars for a plate of tough pork in a cheap red sauce that was mostly bones? Not my idea of good eating. You want good guisado, the best is Daddy Buelos in Arlington. I can’t say anything for the tacos but I hope they’re better than the guiso.

Good tacos except they are pretty small they are about 1.25 each but you need like 5 to fill up other than that good flavor

Great Tacos with awesome hot sauce. Best .99 cent tacos in the area if you want to try some authentic Mexican street style tacos. I wish they had more to choose from but everything is delicious. The menudo is awesome as well.

I used to live in Waxahachie and I went to this delicious taco house a few times. The barbacoa was moist and delicious. The salsas were also awesome. The breakfast food is also great. The service was fast and friendly and prices are decent. I definitely won’t be making the trip out to the countryside just to eat here. But if you are nearby and like a good taqueria then definitely give this place a shot.

They have an awesome variety of 99-cent tacos that come with onions and cilantro. I needed 4 of them to fill up. They were authentic and delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other kinds of tacos.
