The Home Depot

I wish I could give this Home Depot in Reading Massachusetts zero*because that’s truly what it deserves. Management is totally ineffective and are unable to provide any satisfaction for any problems that comes up. This is the last straw. I ordered flooring that was advertised as five day delivery when in fact it’s really more like three weeks. I had to call five times and was on hold for over an hour trying to reach a manager. Disconnected three times in the process. My due date for delivery has come and gone and then trying to find out why the delays? I got nothing but the run around.
The manager on duty (jack) was ineffective and had Ben call me to tell me that my flooring would be delayed for an additional week. Not so much as an apology, I actually heard him snickering when I was expressing how upset and disappointed I was. They do not care at all about the customers. They are very quick to take your money upfront when ordering, but then they feel like they need not follow through. 90% of their staff are just going through the motions, they are not specialists in their field. You go and seek these people out for service and either they pass you off to someone else or they scurry away when they see you coming. They are typically retirees looking for a supplemental income knowing nothing about the industry or quality of service. I own multiple apartment buildings and I’ve ordered hundreds of thousands of dollars in products and supplies from this Home Depot in Reading. They know how much I buy from them and the money I spend there. They just do not care. Well maybe corporate will care because I plan on addressing these issues with them as well.

We went the other night, i was hard to find anyone to help us but at the end our 3 year old had been so good we were saying we would give him a treat and a woman doing the cash register 2 over heard us and came by with a sticker and a lolly pop. it was great

This review is for the Tool Rental Center at Home Depot in Reading, MA. 1 star because I can not give 0. Rented a floor sander from Home Depot last week. No problem renting it. Got home, put sanding discs on and started to sand. After about an hour, the discs started to fall off. Only 1 of 3 would stick on. Ended up sanding the floors by hand with an orbital sander. When I returned the sander, I explained to the TRC rep that the discs kept falling off, seeing if they would offer a credit for the sanding discs. He asked me what was on the bottom of the machine. I said gray pads. He said there should be black velcro pads that the sanding discs stick to. He then asked who rented the sander to me, and I replied that he in fact did. At that point, he put the blame on the customer telling me that since I did not call, he can not give me a refund. I told him that since I didn’t know it needed velcro pads, I wouldn’t be able to ask for them. I then spoke to a manager who was probably only 25 and did not know how the sander operated. He told me that «this is a business and we are not in it to lose money». I told him he was losing my business so Home Depot is losing money and that I would tell everyone I knew not to shop there. He offered me a 5% discount. HAHAHA! Never shopping here again and do not recommend.

Joe was great! He helped my BF and I to get those heavy American Standard Ovation curved glass doors. Two of them and others was misplaced. Joe went to search it for us and also had other licensed employees to get us the doors on the top shelf.
He even joked with us which was great. I don’t know which dept Joe works in. But he’s tall and has a shiny head.
So I give 5 stars to him, William and other associates that helped us with these heavy shower doors. Thank you!!! It took us a while to find this exact size. From Watertown to finally Reading.
Neil and Steve was nice too. They helped me find a price scanner for my mirror.

«Next time you come back, I will throw the coupon on your face» that is exactly what cashier George at pro-​desk counter said once. I asked what did you say? And, he repeated that sentance two more times. He was very rude. Is that how cashiers are trained by the management? I presented a coupon to the cashier and he was informed by the manager that they do not accept printed Lowe’s coupon. So I requested to get my coupon back and George refused to give me back and he squeezed it and was ready to throw in trash. So, I got little upset. Manager was called in. George got rude at me and yelled at me saying «next time if you come back, I will throw the coupon on your face».
I have the worst experience ever at this store. Managers do not seem to trained employees how to provide customer service. Managers and staff not helpful. The guy named «Alex» was kind of rude as well.

Never use this company for home repair or renovations. EVER! Bad experience with a roof that nine years laters we are still fighting with them to fix correctly (under warranty for 20 – apparently warranty is a suggestion to them not a binding agreement). Hire a local licensed business not these frauds who contract out to shady companies who you have no control over. They might make it look easy to get things done but they are complete frauds… look at the better business bureau if you don’t believe me. Wish I knew then what I know now. Live and learn! Next step will be court if they don’t fix this latest problem with our roof. I tried to give zero stars, but it wouldn’t let me!

One of my most frequented spots since buying a home. I can find most all needs within this Home Depot easily. It is within the jordans shopping plaza, right off the highway, and is fairly large. It also has a lumber center.

We are refinishing the basement, so have become regulars at this point. They always have what we need, and that to me is the biggest positive you can have in a store. Reasonable prices and helpful people don’t hurt either! Every employee will ask you if you need help if you look the slightest bit confused… or a lot a bit confused!

stay out of the tool rental there is a old guy named «ALEX» hes a trouble making old punk and literally tried to start a physical fight with me until he realized it wasn’t in his old decrepit states best interest but he tried to make as if he was going to assault me and when i let him know i would cave his face in he backed down im a big guy and he took a moment to realize it. and when confronting management they said nothing and did nothing cause hes still there.
And ironically i was telling a friend of this story and he also had this guy try and fight him.

The slowest, most indifferent service I’ve ever experienced at Home Depot — and I live near the South Bay HD! I thought someone at Reading would be helpful, but I guess I was wrong.

Staff were very helpful in helping us find the closet section and then shelves in the closet section that were in a completely different area than where they were labeled.

We needed at custom cut exterior door and were told that Home Depot could provide the door and install at a reasonable price. We went to the store and met with the consultant who was nice and good at his job. We paid a $ 30 fee to have a sub contractor come out to price and measure. The contractor called twice leaving a message that was difficult to understand culminating in he would be available on Friday at 8:30am. I called back 3X, was never able to get a real person and left messages saying I could not do any Friday at 8:30 we would need to find another time. They called back and left another message saying they would be available next Friday at 8:30am. Okay CLOWN SHOW. Called Home Depot to see what the deal was and they said they would call corporate and have the contractor call me which never happened. The person just nevered called. I called Home Depot to cancel the service and get a refund. They said they could not refund my CC over the phone I would have to come to the store… and that is annoying.
At the same time we tried to schedule the door we set up for basement window replacement. First we were given a ridiculous price then when we told him no he came out with a different window that was more than half less of the original price. Yup I guess that’s what used car salesmen do so I should have expected it. So we go forward with the install and get all sorts of emails confirming windows are sized, ordered, shipped, ready to install, schedule install and then CRICKETS… Day of the install comes no confirmation phone call, no contact from the contractor, just nothing. I call them (corporate number) they say you’re on the schedule they will arrive between 8 – 10. Now it’s 11 and CRICKETS. Call them back (local store) and the local store has no way to contact the local contractor??? CLOWN SHOW. You would think a company this size with the dollars behind them could get their stuff together. Oh well I guess we will have to cancel this install now since we cannot count on them to show up.
All that said the people that I actually dealt with in store were nice and did what they are paid to do without any problem and that is a rarity in this day and age. However the product or lack of is beyond excuse. 0 stars please.

Honestly, I feel a little lame for writing a review on Home Depot, but just wanted to say that I was here earlier tonight, and this HD has the nicest, most willing to help staff that I have ever been in, so I wanted to give them some love!

People who work there were not helpful. Everyone I tried to ask where things are avoided eye contact. When I asked jacuzzi cleaning liquid (aka jet cleaner), they told me that THEY DO NOT SELL or they never heard it was sold at Home Depot and told me to go for a pool store. Of course, I found one at the store by myself — thank you for having the product.

Just your average Home Depot. If you don’t know what you are looking for you might get lost and also will have a hard time. Luckily I dealt with a great staff member in their blinds section who help me custom cut them and answered all my questions.

Not bad but not great.
Customer service is boss.

This Home Depot is one of the largest I have seen — I mean, they carry the same things, but they definitely have more items in stock! I gotta say, I found the staff there helpful. Their efforts were pleasant and were willing to help me solve my problems. It is a bit further away than other Home Depots, but I am willing to make the drive!

Like many others, this location is closest to me, so I go alot and have never had an issue in terms of customer service or availability.
While I am not purchasing things for major contracting jobs, I have been able to find things here that the local hardware store doesn’t have, or had but in less variation and at higher prices.
I cannot speak to their advice, but hear where Mark is coming from. I never really believe that a conversation in an aisle can truly outline every specific thing you may need to know for a project at home.
All in all, nice location, great parking, nice folks and good selection.

Not the best and not the worst.
They have a lot of stuff and the store is huge. So if I need to run out and get several different things for a weekend of work on the home and yard, then this is probably the best place to go. If I want advice on how to do something, this isn’t the best place.
Case in point: I bought a bunch of glass subway tile (elsewhere) to do my kitchen backsplash. I rented a wet saw from them and was told the universal blade would do the trick. It didn’t. I went online and found a special blade was needed for cutting glass. I went back here and they didn’t sell it. I ordered one online, got the job done, and returned the saw.
The good thing is when I returned the saw I told him what I had learned. A month later I was in the store and noted they now sold the special blades needed. Good for them for trying to improve.
The bad thing is there were 2 – 3 more times when I received advice that was very wrong, not just somewhat off-​base.
So if you need a huge selection, this is the place. If you need advice on projects that aren’t that common, you’re better off looking elsewhere.

You are only as good as your employees.
I have gone in during a weekday morning and have been asked if I need help around every corner. Saturdays can be different just because so many people are there. I have had better service in this home center than any other.
