I’d stuck to taking my 2 year old son to those kiddie hair salons in hopes that he might be distracted by the cool cars for chairs, and mini TV screens, enough to let the nice lady do her job. Well, 4 out of the 4 times I took him to these kiddie salons this did NOT work. He would still know exactly what was going on, and would give the ladies a hard time. Also, I hate to admit, these ladies would give up on him fairly easily and he’d end up with choppy cut. So for his latest haircut I thought, OK, he’s a little older, let’s take him to a big boy barbershop and see how he does. I was intent on taking him to 2% barbershop in Rancho, but the barber I wanted didn’t have an opening the ENTIRE weekend! Crazy huh? So I read several reviews and decided to go with Chops. I called and made an appointment with Cynthia, who I’d read great things about, and fortunately, she was available the next day, which worked perfectly for me.
The place itself was impressive. Total classic barbershop feel! The waiting area had vintage couches and a huge TV screen for everyone to enjoy. I checked in with the friendly receptionist and Cynthia came to get us shortly there after.
The haircut … AMAZING! The simple fact that Cynthia was able so use the clippers on my son is Gold-​Medal worthy! No joke! It took a while to get my son to settle down. I had to sit down and hold him down, forcefully, for like 5 minutes before he realized the clippers weren’t going to hurt him. I LOVED the fact that Cynthia took charge and went for it. She spoke Spanish, which helped, A LOT, considering that is my son’s primary language right now. I think it also helped that she has children of her own, so she’s experienced with these hyper-​active toddlers.
Overall, I was VERY happy that my son finally had a great cut, and will definitely be returning!

AWESOME JOB GUYS! We took our 2,3,5 year old boys in today and the guys did such excellent work, we have had such a hard time finding a good place that 1. Is patient with kids and 2. Takes their time, and doesn’t butcher their hair.

Our son Charlie had the WORST haircut from another barbershop, he literally looked like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber. Josh assessed the situation spent a descent amount of time on the cut and Charlie looks like a new man! Awesome job JOSH!
Johnny took care of our little guy Johnny (same name) who is 2 and squirmy. Our kiddo was not feeling so hot but this guy was patient, understanding and managed to give him a great style in spite of all my babies crazy cowlicks.
Lastly, my 5 year old chickened out so my husband took his spot. The lady who cleaned up his hair was quick super sweet and did a great job too.
Such a great place, we will be going there from now on!

Best barbershop in Rancho hands down went with Johnny he did awesome job. Very professional appointment was on time he also took his time and didn’t rush. Will be coming here from now on.

Great haircut! The guy was (I believe Richard) was very nice and gave me a great cut.

Cynthia trimmed up the beard and completed the beard trim with the line up! Nice and tight looking so fresh and so clean. Cynthia is extremely professional and as we finished another client came in for his cut and Cynthia continued her smile and Custer service.

Just a legit barbershop. No gimmicks, just good people doing great cuts. Josh has been cutting my hair for 2 years now, and I wont ever go anywhere else.

MAAAAAAN! They messed up my weave, got my hair did and they made it look good.
Really though, there is never a wait with an appointment, I actually have gotten taken care of fast even without an appointment. I have really curly hair, and if you have curly hair you know how hard it is to get a good haircut is, and Josh «@barbermontiel» has always left me feeling like a million bucks for under 20 $
I would recommend the talent here anywhere, no gimmicks, just good cuts at a better price.
PS. Ask John for the midnight special, you wont be disappointed ;)

Getting chopped by John… Great little barbershop here in Rancho. Shop is always clean and staff is friendly. If you are looking for a clean, consistent stylish hair cut this is the place.

Love coming here. The staff is always so friendly and tells jokes all the time. I normally get my haircuts from Julie or Lorena. I like that they’re always so detailed, especially with their lines. Great place, friendly environment, and friendly staff.

Closed on Sundays, should’ve called first, their hours on here say they’re open. Nope

The best place around to get a fresh cut. Ive been coming here for 6 months and I’ve never had a bad experience. I used to go to 2% but this place is even better and less expensive, plus you don’t have to deal with the mall crowd if you know what I mean.
Lorena usually cuts my hair and she does a great job every time. She’s been cutting hair for a long time, so I trust her judgement and let her cut it the way she thinks is best. She really hooked it up for my wedding so I was looking extra fresh. She’s really good a doing tapers and hard parts, which is how I like it. Though I usually go with Lorena, Aaron and Julie have also done great jobs cutting my hair as well. You can’t go wrong with any of the employees from what I have noticed.

First time in was yesterday. Was referred by a buddy to go with Juliette. Great cut and a nice girl. She takes her time and gets the lines right. I got lucky to get in late on a Friday by appointment. But I won’t be taking that chance again as there’s only so many chairs and they are busy.
Oh on top of that, the price isn’t outrageous like the competition out there.
Not going back to the mall that’s for sure.

These guys (and gals) are very good at what they do. They always clean me up and make my cut look like it took an hour to blend. I have my favorite barbers but in all honesty everyone of them can give you a great cut. For $ 15 you can’t beat the service and atmosphere!
I always tip $ 5 so it’s a great cut with confident and easy going barbers for only $ 20 bucks! Cheaper for kiddos.
Also very kid friendly environment. One incident I was getting lined up and the song playing in the shop had just a few curse words and a mother and her two middle school age kids walked in for their time slot and the barber cutting my hair (John) motioned for the other barber to change the station because of the kids. Very professional and good service.

Cute barbershop not too far from the house. I usually go to the Barbershop on Milliken but the cost is a little too high for me, so I came to Chop. After making several visits here I learned to always call and make an appointment because they are always busy. Even if you plan to walk in, I advise you to call to see if they’re accepting walk ins.
The ambiance of the shop is old school and chill. Located inside the Ramona Shopping Plaza next to some Japanese restaurant and café. I had Josh cut my hair and he was very outgoing and personable. I told him how I wanted my haircut and he took his time checking every detail. My cut turned out great and he made sure I was fully satisfied with my cut. I’ll always go back to Josh for a perfect cut.

I was looking for a new local barber, called around 3:15 for a 4:00 appointment and was taken in without any problem. My barber was Richard and he sculpted my hair from the shaggy mess it was, to a super clean combover with a hard part.
The barber’s attention to detail was phenomenal! Perfect edging with a straight blade and the taper was flawless. Definitely becoming a regular!
