Aztec Solar

Had the solar for a couple weeks now and wow, it is really good. I was purposely pushing the temp and covering to find the ideal temperature, and I can tell you, I have hit 94 degree water and decided that was way too warm! We will take 90 for now until we get further into the summer :)

We found Aztec Solar on the web and submitted a request for quote. We were looking into solar heating for our mostly shaded pool.
We were contacted the next day and scheduled for a free estimate timely.
Ken Rato is a sales representative for Aztec and was no pressure sales but gave us all the honest information we needed to make the best decision for our family.
We are looking forward to having our solar installed by Aztec over the coming month.

Previously a 1-​star, I must say Aztec solar has stepped up their game to 5 stars. Not because of their service, sales or price, but because of the after-​installation issue I had.
We were sold on a new variable speed Pentair pump, pool solar and the Pentair Sun Touch system that was going to automate the multi-​pump operation. Well the pump and solar system are excellent and Aztec was very competitive with pricing. However, I would advise anyone looking at the Sun Touch controller to be sure and get some good training on its use prior to the install team leaving your house. Any changes can wreak havoc on the normal operation if not done correctly, and the Aztec Solar resource just did a great job «re-​acquainting» me with its use. It’s very much appreciated!!!

We bought a home with Solar pool heating a year ago and had no idea how to set it once the winter was over. I messed it up by trying to do it myself. The manual was little help and after a dirty pool and endless irritation we called for help. Richard, the service manager, was very helpful and simplified things for me. He fixed my mistakes, (there were many) and I felt confident after he wrote out and highlighted all the only few programs I will need to use! My only regret is that I did not make an appointment sooner. Thank you.

I had Aztec solar install panels for my pool a few years ago and while the panels themselves work great they greatly botched up the installation of the control system. When getting an estimate they told me that ordering a sun touch panel would allow me to fully control my pool from it. After installing they briefly showed me the solar was working and I thought little of it. It wasn’t until later that I discovered that the panel does not control my pump at all. Even worse the panel is so user unfriendly it barely controls the solar (I can’t disable it manually). Had they told me this when I was installing it i would have saved $ 500 or so and just had manual controls. When I called later they offered no support saying that id have to pay to get someone to hook up the panel that they couldn’t install properly in the first place. I’d never deal with Aztec solar again.

I was sold on a system that was supposed to let me swim well into October and as early as late March. The temperature of my pool fell into the low 70’s the last week of September and never recovered to a decent temperature. Comparing to my neighbors pool without solar all summer we had similar temperatures. If you want 85+ in the summer then this might work. I myself do not want bath water for a refreshing swim. but wanted to swim well into October.
Hope to see better results in the spring when I bring it back online. I will be looking into thermal imaging as well next summer to see how the 440+ sq. ft. panel system is doing.

Unfriendly staff when I called to schedule my service

Five stars for professional staff! I just spoke with their accounting department and was very surprised and happy with how they handled my concern. Thumbs up!

Called this Company for a for a promo I rceived in the mail for a service and inspection of my Solar. On the day scheduled I had to work and was unavailable to meet them for appointment yet received a bill in the mail along with a quote for a couple thousand in necessary repairs due to leaks. (Side note –they had just installed my solar a few years prior so if needing a few thousand in repairs that’s a problem of its own) either way I called and explained I was not home and did not allow anyone to enter my residence. The lady who answered then placed me on hold for a few minutes then came back on and began to explain how their technician had got on my roof anyway to complete the inspection and therefor the bill was justified. That is up until the point in which I stated the pool equiptment is on the ground and that he could not have accessed this due to the fact that I breed Bullmastiffs and that there is 4 150 lb dogs that say otherwise. When she was confronted with this she got real disgruntle and said she cannot speak to me about this and hung up. I later received a letter from a collection company and now have this attached to my credit report thanks to this company. In closing I had another company out to inspect the same solar who found no leaks or damages as previously described by Aztec Solar. Sounds like a bait and switch hustle to me. Stay away

Aztec installed my solar water heater, which allows me to completely turn off my electric water heater for about 7 – 8 months of the year. It saves me about $ 50 a month. After the installation, they came out to my house 3 times to address issues I was having, and two of those times were outside of their warranty period. They didn’t charge me for any of these visits. I appreciate their commitment to keeping customers like me happy.

We received several bids from different solar companies. None were as professional as Aztec Solar. Their office people and the salesman were very thorough and we are very pleased with our solar installation, which is producing all of our electricity so far.

Aztec solar did come out when they said they would. It took a while but they did come out. They managed to reroute some piping and add some other devices in the lines to slow the water. Using the thermal imager all the panels are functioning as they should at a much lower pump speed saving me energy! Bravo!

These people are work extremely hard, and are persistent — in sending you SPAM. Even after repeatedly asking them to stop sending me SPAM, they keep sending me SPAM by emails, postal mail and phone calls. (Did I mention they work EXTREMELY hard?). I also agree with other reviewers that these guys know what they are doing: Their SPAM emails have very nice fonts, and professional graphics. Their unsolicited phone-​caller also use pleasant voice, so definitely professionals.
They also seems to have some unusual product that I have not heard about from anywhere else: I ALREADY have solar on all of my roof area facing sun, but they keep sending me SPAM about their amazing product that will cut down my bills! Who knew there are products out there that can generate solar energy without sun!

I chose Aztec Solar from a group of three contractors that I contacted. A solar hot water expert came to our home and sat down with us. I had done extensive research, but wasn’t certain which system was best for us. After the consultation I was confident that the system Aztec recommended was right for us. It is an 80-​gallon, passive system that is freeze-​proof. They reinforced our roof under the unit, and the work was done quickly and efficiently. They installed valves, so that in the Summer you can bypass the gas water heater, and turn it off. We were used to having somewhat hot water year-​round by keeping the thermostat on our gas water heater set low. Now we only do that when the weather is cool. From late Spring, all through the Summer, to early Fall, we bypass the gas water heater, and we have 80 gallons of scalding hot water. During that time our gas bill is ¹⁄₁₀^th what it was before the solar hot water was installed. In the cooler seasons, the solar water heater pre-​warms the water that feeds into the gas water heater, and this lowers our gas bill in the Winter. We enjoy the plentiful hot water in the Summer more than we expected that we would. It exceeds our expectations. I highly recommend Aztec Solar, for a very positive experience, and to finally start saving money, and sparing the environment from the extraction and burning of natural gas.
I have since read some of the other reviews, and would like to share my experience with scheduling a follow-​up appointment. I decided I wanted to have a thermometer added to the hot water pipe coming from the roof, so that I would know the temperature of the water coming from my solar hot water system. They quoted me a price, I agreed to it, we made a date, they showed up on time, did the work, and we’re very happy with it.

We recently had a solar heater put in for our pool by Aztec Solar and we are definitely satisfied with everyone we dealt with. To start, we called and an initial appointment at our house was set. The salesman, Jack Stanger, showed up on time, went through a thorough explanation of what a solar heater would and would not accomplish, showed us their product and talked about the competitor’s product. He did not bad mouth the competition at all. He just explained the differences. He then showed us where he thought the panels could go and gave us an estimate based on the number of panels he could fit. We have a very difficult roof in that it has too many levels and faces mostly in bad directions for solar. We have been told by several companies that solar for electricity is not an option for us. Jack did say that the installer would come out and go over his recommendations making changes as needed and that the price could change. Of course we were under no obligation to agree with the final estimate. He also gave us an estimate on a variable speed pump which we wanted to have installed at the same time.
The installer came out on schedule and looked at the house. He came up with a different layout which we actually liked better but would be about $ 1000 more. There would be more panels so it would work better and it would not be visible at all from the street. In the meantime we also got a quote from Aztec’s main competitor in town. Aztec’s revised bid was still substantially lower. We decided to go ahead with the job from Aztec.
Day of installation was flawless. People came on time (actually a few minutes early) finished before they estimated and totally cleaned up afterwards. Then meticulously went through the processes we had to do twice a year. System works great.
How well this system holds up and how well Aztec will honor their warranty are yet to be seen. But so far, this family is a fan of the company, its people and the product we bought.

Making the decision to go solar was a difficult one, it’s a BIG investment! How do you know how much savings you will truly get and if your financial investment will reap returns for you? My husband and I did a ton of research ourselves before even deciding to make a phone call to entertain bids and information from vendors. Aztec solar was the company that we decided to go with. They were so helpful from the moment of our first contact to the our first meeting. We had a ton of questions and Jack Stanger came to our house with catered information that was just for us! They took the time even before we were committed customers to show us what kind of savings WE would have based on OUR utility information.
Jack was caring and kind and super informative. We never felt pressured into anything. I learned so much from this first initial meeting with Jack, not only about what a reputable company Aztec is, but about solar in general and all of the many options there really are out there. Jack came with a variety of financing options to choose from and left all of the information with us and waited patiently for our decision. I called Jack maybe three or four times after that (and God knows how many emails) ALL of our calls were answered and ALL emails replied to promptly. We knew that Aztec was the company that we were going to go with, I told Jack and our planning began.
This is about the time that I checked Unilocal for reviews… OH MY! Are you people sure you are reviewing the same company?! I have to admit that I was uneasy after reading them, I prepared myself for them to not return my calls and become evasive after our commitment to buy. Well… THAT NEVER HAPPENED!
The entire office staff has kept open lines of communication with me throughout this entire process. Even the install guys were polite and pleasant to be around. They worked diligently and smoothly and respectfully! Our roof has been known by contractors as «the widow maker» this was no easy task, and these guys made it look easy.
I LOVE our new solar system, I believe that it was catered to our home and to our needs specifically. I am more than satisfied with the ongoing electronic and web based monitoring that has been provided to us to ensure that our system is working properly, I would recommend this company from start to finish for all of your solar needs, the other reviews DO NOT IN ANY WAY shape or form demonstrate my experience with this company.
Professional, respectful, timely and honest that is how I would describe Aztec solar.

You call them… leave your information. they never call you back… call again… they get your information and tell you they will call you back… guess what? they never call you back… and call one more time and they tell you they are booked for 2 months… and the old dude they send to your home for a quote after all these communication problems is like a car dealer salesman from 1950’s… if i were you i would stay away…

I was very disappointed with the service call I received from Aztec Solar. I purchased a home with a solar water heater and have been experiencing intermittent issues. I explained the intermittent nature of the problem when I booked the appointment because I understand how difficult it is to service such issues. Two technicians responded for my appointment and told me that the circuit breaker specific to the water heater was loose, and simply needed to be plugged in. I asked several times, «Are you sure that can be the only explanation for this problem?» as we had reset the circuit breaker when the issue had happened before. The technicians failed to offer any additional explanation or do any other diagnostic work.
Of course, $ 151 later, I am still experiencing the issue and have another company coming out this week to look into it. The lesson I learned from this experience — I refused to book a service call without assurance that the techician would do some work. I got an explanation of the diagnostic tests they will do, and the service fee is half of Aztec’s.

Heard their add on KFBK and decided to give a call. Gal who answers the phone… gets 5 stars… but then was transferred to I guess their salesman… RON…and it all went downhill. Provided my phone, email and address to get a quote, and was told I should receive an email and a follow-​up call. That was 1 week ago. Gave a second call a couple days ago and again Gal at front desk gets 5 stars… and again RON took the same info provided in the call about a week ago and stated he’ll send an email with info… and what was so rude… in the midst of the call stated he had another call coming… WOW…so my call was not important enough? Well RON has failed again… still no email or attempts to contact me.
Great Business Model Aztec! Keep doing this and you will be part of forgotten history in no time.
