Having a drink while getting a manicure and pedicure? Sounds like a great idea, too bad I had an AWFUL experience. Drinks are overpriced. There was only one nail technician working when my friend and I arrived. She claims she had been working there for a year, but I question her credibility. I only received one coat of polish on my nails for my manicure. She didn’t push my cuticles back or cut them. She must have thought since I hadn’t had a manicure in a while, I don’t know how they are done. She also insisted on telling me numerous times how I need to get a manicure and pedicure regularly. I had to go in myself and put another coat on my toes, it was very streaky. The lady refused to give me the paper flip flops after she was done. I eventually got them, and glad I did, because when I took them off the whole bottom was covered in hair. Do they ever clean? I had a groupon for a mani and pedi combo at $ 44 a person, which is normally an outrageous price of $ 71. Terrible experience I would never recommend this place to anyone.

BAD, TERRIBLE, UNETHICAL, DONOTGO!!! I went in recently for a shorter haircut with low lights and highlights. Loved the cut, but it turned out a little too dark so I immediately called to schedule a fix for more blonde. I was under the impression that my hair would simply be fixed(since it had only been a couple of days) with more blonde per the conversation I had over the phone and at NO charge — this is how every salon in the U.S. works. I walked up and said, «I at least want to give — a tip for fixing it so well.» The manager Renee told me that I was to be charged for an entirely NEW partial highlight AND charged for a blow out. She said, «You should have said you wanted only wanted a glaze.» I told her I’m unfamiliar with hair salon lingo and just needed it fixed. She said when I called I should have spoken with her… So, according to that logic, it’s my fault that I didn’t speak with the owner and that I don’t understand hair lingo. In addition to the $ 175 charged last Friday, I was charged $ 120 today. GRANDTOTALINCLUDINGTIPS, $ 335.00. ONLY for a haircut and partial highlight that needed a blonde adjustment. Sorry — I won’t be coming back. That’s completely outrageous. I hope my hairstylist, if she’s reading she knows who she is, will leave. **Instead of simply comping me, Primp Salonbar lost a loyal and great paying customer.** This place WILL go out of business because they are completely unethical and clearly do not understand long term, repeat business from loyal clients. They should be ashamed.

I really liked my hair cut I received here! The owner cut it and he listened and recommended things, since I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, and in the end I ended up with a modern haircut I really loved!

These people are either delusional or trying to scam their customers. I was given a $ 50 Groupon for a cut, color, and style. The Groupon stated that there is an extra-length fee, but I only needed my roots touched up and figured it would not apply to me. Wrong. I spent 15 minutes arguing with the manager about why she was trying to charge me an extra $ 50 because my hair was a couple inches past my shoulders. That’s right — they charge a $ 50 extra length fee despite the fact that I only needed actual color on an inch of my hair. The best part was when the owner came over and told me that what I am asking for(recap: root touch up, cut, style) is normally $ 170 at their salon and that my Groupon only covers $ 120 of it. At this point I looked around and realized I’m in a mall food court. I can practically smell the Chinese place next door and here they are trying to charge Rodeo Drive prices. I walked out. I managed to get an appointment at an awesome boutique salon nicer than this place where they charged me $ 75 for the same service.

When I called to make the appointment I was told about the additional money that would be charged in addition to the living social voucher I had purchased for a highlights, cut, and blow dry, if my hair was longer than my shoulders. I assured the woman that my hair did not touch my shoulders so this wouldn’t be an issue. When I went in to my stylist this wasn’t even brought up. She quickly and politely went about putting many highlights in my hair. She did a great job with the highlights, they look beautiful. As far as the cut went, she seemed hesitant to cut much off even though at one point I was close to begging her to give me layers and bangs. In the end I got a good haircut, it looks pretty. I did not get the bangs I wanted though, perhaps she thought it would look bad. Would I return? Nope. Did I get my money’s worth? Yes. However, this salon lacks the charm, the up beat atmosphere and the rock star atmosphere of the original downtown. It was a real let down to go here. Even though my stylist did a good job on my hair there was nothing warm and fuzzy about her. I do not think she even asked my name. Usually stylists will make a little small talk with you. Nope. Not this one.

Worst hair experience of my life. I went in for a cut and some highlights. I bought the groupon and knew there would be an extra charge for long hair. I wanted pink orchid highlights mixed subtly through my brown hair. I showed the stylist pictures on my phone of EXACTLY what I wanted. After spending 4 hours at this salon, I left with the entire top of my head purple. Like, Barney purple. I absolutely hate it and have never been more disappointed in my life. I paid nothing when I was there and will be requesting a refund from groupon. They should be shut down.

***4THBADREVIEWIFBUYING A GROUPON***I purchased the groupon hoping to find a new salon. I was greeted by Cindy and my hair stylist was Ali. My groupon was for cut, style and all over color for $ 49. While Ali was asking me what kind of color and cut I wanted, Cindy came over very abruptly and kind of abrasive and said due to your length and thickness it’s going to be $ 60.(Shocked) I said $ 60 extra? You mean total right? 49 + 11? I’ve already paid $ 49 through groupon. She said yes, extra. I said I only want a trim(maybe 1in) and she said that’s our policy if we have to cut long hair. I only got this groupon because I was trying to save money. $ 120 later that’s ridiculous. No thank you and never again. It would be different if I’m cuttinh 8 inches off and styling it to a new hairstyle but this is a 1 inch trim with no layers. Ali was a very nice man and very courteous but I didn’t like how he had to ask the owner what to do next. My color was sitting on my hair for a bit and then he goes Cindy, should I wash now? She said yes. He asked, «with shampoo?» I mean isn’t that a given and I’m not even a hairstylist. Lastly, the pricing is not $$$$ worthy(apparently on Unilocal and in the store). Don’t you think if your salon is so expensive that 1. You’d have beyond experienced stylist working there, 2. A better location –its literally located in the food court of Crabtree and 3. The décor– when I think of $$$$ i think of elegance, people who have money, people who want to buy nice things. Don’t you think the Salon should look like its $$$$ worthy? Nope not even close.

I purchased a groupon for a shampoo, cut and partial highlights at Primp because I was on a budget but ready for a change in my hairstyle. I called to make my appointment and spoke to a very nice woman on the phone and let her know that I had a groupon and she said I just needed to bring it along with me. When I went in I was introduced to my stylist, Cody who was very nice. After he sat me down he said he wanted to let me know that there would be an additional $ 70 long hair charge. I asked him why and he told me it was for all of the extra color they would need to use. I told him that I wanted most of my length cut off and I asked if he could cut before coloring to save me the charge, because it did not make sense to me to color hair and then cut it off. He agreed with me and said it didn’t make sense to him either and he would ask his manager. I overheard the manager say«you can cut off as much as you want before coloring, we’re still charging extra.» Then she came over to me and said even if he cuts your hair to your ears first we’re still charging the length fee because the groupon only covers 2 ounces of color. I then asked if she would be willing to do only the cut and no color and she said no because they had to do what the groupon said. I’ve never had any manager or business owner so unwilling to work with a customer before. I will not go back or recommend this salon to anyone. I will be contacting groupon for a refund(hopefully).

Great salon. Laura made me feel comfortable and was fun to talk to — love my hair! I will go back to her again. I asked questions about the cost before she started and had no surprises when I left.
