O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar

Didn’t expect much from this place but was pleasantly surprised. Very poor choices for vegetarians, in fact they have one vegetarian entrée — the bean burger. Not even a vegetarian soup! The waiter did not make any other suggestions or offer that the kitchen could make up something special for me. (He did do the usual «any salad without the meat» which is annoying and which I never select.) Clearly he had no interest in accommodating me and was kind of a jerk. So, I just ordered the bean burger. My dinner partner ordered the cobb salad.
We were both surprised with the good food. The bean burger was very good, well made, excellent bread, nice piece of cheese on it and some other vegetables. They also substituted a healthy vegetable for the usual fries at my request which was nice. My partner’s Cobb salad was fresh and tasty, very well served, and quite generous in proportion.
I would come here again though I wish they had more vegetarian options. Also, the wait staff really needs more training. But the food was quite good and service was quick.

Food was ok. Definitely got a new cook who can cook. However service was horrible. Waiter rarely appeared… When finally did, asked for water. Gave water to one person at table and ignored rest (guess we all had to ask). We were here 1−½ hours for Lunch. Not fast. No one seemed to care. Used to be a nice place… Has gone downhill.

I’ve been here a couple times and found that the service was good but the food was mediocre to poor.

Came here a couple days ago and had probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Our server would walk by our table 10 – 15 minutes after we asked him for something and the look on his face was as if a light bulb came on and he suddenly remembered that we needed something. If he didn’t get this sudden light of remembrance, he would come back to the table and we would have to ask him again for something. Simple stuff like more bread was even a hard task for him, or more water. I assume he thought that we weren’t going to tip him well or he was having a bad day (I hope) but he was horrible and I wish I could remember his name. Towards the end of our meal we asked for 2 pieces of pie to go because we couldn’t deal anymore and a box for our chicken fingers. He came back 10 minutes later with our pie and said «Oh did you decide on a box for your chicken fingers» No we just asked you for a box 10 mins ago… Wow. horrible.

I don’t get to come here often because of the distance, but when I do it’s always very enjoyable. The food is really good and the rolls are amazing! Whenever possible, I request Sam as my server. She’s friendly and upbeat and is always on point with service! Highly recommended!

We live close and enjoy eating here every few weeks. We always request Sam as our server. She makes sure we have a great meal and will go out of her way to make things right if things aren’t as they should be. Take her up on any drink specials, she also bartends so knows what’s good. She should really just be the manger in my opinion. I’ve probably had the entire menu at one point or another and do like the burgers, salads, and potato soup. #901 #octhelittlethings

I’m not a fan of this chain, however I was pleasantly surprised with service and the soup.

We have had several meals here. Never disappointed. Food is always excellent. Servers are nice and friendly. Not sure why the reviews are not better. An overall a great dining experience.

Not sure why the horrible reviews from all the others. Yes this is a chain and that being said with the right expectations in mind this place is really good. I actually think it does well at disguising the fact that its a chain. Our service was great, the food was good and on top of that they have pretty good pies. When having to choose between the other big chain family grill and bars (Applebee’s, Chili’s, etc) I think o Charley’s and Cheddars are top notch. This resteraunt is no exception and I did not find too much truth behind the poor reviews. I was actually quite surprised.

We’ve always enjoyed our meals at O’Charley’s. I must say that their servers are trained exceptionally well. The one server who stands out above the rest is Victor (in O’Fallon il). I was in the food and beverage industry for ten years, and he surpassed all the restaurant servers (including fine dining) with his superb serving skills. Even though there was a small glitch with our food this evening, Victor still made us feel like valued customers. And that is why we return time and time again. I highly recommend O’Charley’s for the good food, reasonable prices, and exceptional service.

I wish I’d consulted Unilocal before stopping here. We came in for a quick lunch on the way to somewhere else (where we had to be at an appointed time.) It was early afternoon and the restaurant had few diners. We were seated and waited much longer than we should have for the waiter to come over. He took our drink orders and took an inordinate time bringing the drinks (maybe not his fault, but he didn’t check in with us.) I had ordered their ‘special’ Mojito and it arrived without mint. It’s not a Mojito if it doesn’t have mint! Once I was able to get the waiter’s attention he said he’d find out for me. He came back but didn’t speak to us. Finally one of us got his attention and he said, no, they have no mint. I then requested a G&T which arrived in a squat highball glass — geez. How hard is it to get a drink order right?
The waiter finally took our food order. I ordered a simple cheeseburger, which is what I got. It was the blandest piece of meat I’ve ever had. The fries were so over-​salted that I couldn’t eat them, while no amount of salt could help the burger.
Throughout the meal, our waiter was hard to find. Very disappointing service when the restaurant is not busy.
At one point the hostess came to our table and I mentioned the lack of mint in the Mojito. She immediately replied «I didn’t charge you.» Perhaps this is the only reason some people complain, but I thought it was just as important that their wait staff knows to warn customers of it.
Bad food, bad service, worse drinks. I won’t go back to this place EVER.

We dined in for lunch, ordered ribs with fries and cole slaw, and chili nachos. Fried food tasted so awful, it smelt like rancid oil.
I asked the manager how often they change the oil in the fryer, she said she didn’t know because she didn’t work in the kitchen (made me laugh inside. Really?), but she’d go find out for me.
Later the manager came back to tell me that the kitchen changes out the oil every night, but I doubt it. Maybe they do, only to recycle the same oil they’ve been using forever.
That bitterness from the nachos totally ruined my appetite, I hardly ate and had to ask to take off the nachos of the bill.
The server and the manager apologized several times and I accepted it, however they’ll not have my business again. I don’t expect a lot from a chain restaurant but this specific O’charley’s is even below than any other locations.

The floors smell horrible. The carpet doesn’t seem to have been cleaned in years. It smells like old socks. Certainly not appetizing. Our server is quite slow. A manager had to come over and take our drink order. Had to ask for appetizer plates and silverware. The bread is cold and the butter tastes freezer burned. Can you tell I’m not having fun?

Walked in put our name on wait list. Looked around lobby and discovered their sanitation grade semi hidden by a fake ficus tree.
The grade was a LOW B. it was 85. I left.
Poor people who don’t look for the grade. That’s a lot of points off for a big chain restaurant.

Horrible service!!! We weren’t greeted at the door the hostess just stared at us. Finally I spoke and said we had two for dinner. Once seated it took at least 15 mins before our waitress showed up for our drink order. Since we waited so long we were ready to order. Once again the disappearing waitress didn’t show back up until our food came out 20 mins later. Then she was gone again. She just kept disappearing when she finally showed up again we were done eating and ready to get out of there. And of course we had to wait 15 mins for her to take our payment. This was my first time to this restaurant and will probably be my last!
