My wife & I have been stopping here for years. I agree that it’s one of the smaller Krogers, but IMHO, as chain grocery stores go, it’s okay, nothing special. Pros — friendly people(especially management, talkative, likable, easy to approach), easy to navigate the store, competitive prices, and xtra gas points when buying gift cards. Cons — it’s a small store, and the managers specials — yes, they’re marked down — a LOT, but in many cases, it’s because it’s so close to expiration they have to unload it quickly — check the dates. Kroger brand sour cream — the last two we bought were moldy, and it was still 2 weeks before the expiration date when we opened them. My bride had tossed her receipt already so it was pointless to try to take them back. I cannot stand throwing money away like that.

I’m still a huge fan of Kroger, as chains go. Growing up in Houston, we used them all the time in our family — esp. those super duper Flagship varieties. This particular branch is a bit smaller than most other Krogers, but doesn’t deviate too far from the usual version. Relatively updated exterior and nice clean interiors make this store a nice alternative for us to shop for groceries — esp. when we’re bringing our lil’ chi-wiener dog to the vet across the street. It’s closer to 540 near the Strickland/Creedmoor intersection than the other Kroger several blocks down on Creedmoor. Besides the usual 10 for 10 deals, I’ve noticed that this particular store seems to have slightly fresher veggies and a better deli section even touting a sushi station. Today, we just happened to stop by after a visit to the vet and noticed they had really junky free samples of some of their sushi rolls. Yes, I know(*holding head in shame*)…but we were hungry and 17 pieces later[1], that«snack» hit the spot(yes, I was both cheap *and* hungry). Overall the usual smattering of deals can be had with your Kroger’s reward card — so be sure to sign up. Like most grocery stores in the area, they offer some sweet kickbacks with a free signup for their frequent shoppers. You can also go online and signup for online coupons and reap the bennies without having to lug a tome of coupons like an *extreme* couponer. Clean, cheap, reasonably good quality produce, great 10 for 10 deals and free sushi roll samples when you’re hungry make this review an easy 5 star one. Too bad they don’t have a reliable wifi source, tho…(no checkins for moi). :( [1] Don’t worry, we still bought one of their prepared sushi rolls just b/c we felt guilty with our free sample diving binge.
