Calvin’s Paws

We adopted my first cat from Calvin’s Paws about 6 weeks ago. The application process was very efficient and the staff was so helpful in choosing the best cat for us. The first two cats we chose were already promised for adoption, but Dexter was available and is a perfect fit for us. Our home has a small dog, 14yrs old and the staff was so accommodating to find a cat that was ok with dogs. Dexter’s personality was accurately described and he is the playful young cat that we anticipated. Cheryl, the foster Mom, was very helpful in educating us in the appropriate food and care that Dexter would need and Julia was very patient with scheduling the best time for us to do the adoption paper work. We were even provided with a cat carrier that had been donated from another family. I could not have had a better experience and I would definitely recommend Calvin’s Paws to anyone willing to provide a fur-​ever home!

We adopted our newest cat from Marley’s, and had a great experience! I first encountered the group at a PetsMart adoption event where I also met the cat who would become ours and was able to spend some time talking with the volunteers. What a devoted, compassionate and dedicated bunch! All the cats are cared for in vetted foster homes so you get a good sense of all their behaviours and how they react to other cats/​dogs/​children, as well as any preferences or quirks. The adoption counselor we worked with was very pleasant and Lauren, Abby’s foster mom, was so helpful and clearly devoted to doing the best for the animals in her care. While they don’t have a physical adoption location like some rescue groups and all adoption applications are done on line, they’re easy to find at regular adoption events around the Raleigh area and worth checking out if you’re looking for a little four-​footed love in your life!

I love this organization! My husband and I have adopted two kitties from them, both FIV+. Carol, our adoption counselor, went out of her way to set up times/​locations for us to meet certain cats and then let us spend as much time as we needed to with them. The adoption process was very thorough and I appreciated their desire to make sure we were matched with the right cats. She answered all of our questions and gave us as much background info as we needed. I know they have a lot of FIV cats so if you have been wary of adopting one of these, don’t be! They are great and ours have only had health issues at the end of their lives (one lived to be 16!!!) like any «normal» cat. They also have a lot of non-​FIV kitties. All of their animals are in foster homes and if you’re nervous about adopting, you can see about doing «foster-​to-​adopt.» Marley’s has animals also at some of the local pet stores. That special kitty or dog could be waiting on YOU right now! :)
