The Live Oak

I really like their beer battered fish sandwiches and onion rings, but I won’t order from them again until they start practicing fair business, or stop hiring ungrateful delivery men; not sure which one. Anyway, the guy that delivered my food yesterday decided to make a scene about getting a $ 1 tip. As he handed the food to me, he pointed at the seamless invoice and said «I drive 1.5 miles and you give me a $ 1 tip?» in the most disrespectful tone imaginable. Excuse me?! Newsflash! Tips aren’t mandatory and you’re already being paid (hopefully, it’s the law) for delivering my food, so I have no obligation to tip you. I always tip $ 1 on seamless solely as an act of courtesy on my end. Also, 1.5 miles is not far at all! I definitely consider that a walking distance. But then again, the guy was chubby… Regardless, I don’t like dealing with grumpy delivery guys, even for a beer-​battered fish sandwich.

Love the wings. The price during live football games are perfect; $ 0.50 per wing. We usually order wings, side salad and fries (the wide cut) with a glass of wine and beer. The bartender/​waitress are always friendly and attentive. Kudos to the chef.

I have never eaten in the restaurant but have eaten take out from them on numerous occasions. The food is tasty and reasonably priced and thus far they have always got my order 100 percent correct. They pay close attention to detail. My only complaint is the hour and a half delivery time.

Small place but nicer. Have a lite summer salad menu. Went here for a tea reading enjoyed the drink and the reading.

This review is for their delivery service and burgers. I used Grubhub to place the order and was notified it would take an hour and a half to get here. That wasn’t a big problem since I wasn’t going anywhere important that day. I was surprised when it got to my door in around 45 minutes, half the estimated time. The food was still hot. I got the house Guinness Burger and my boyfriend ordered the York burger. Both were very delicious and came in large portions. I’ve had lots of terrible dry burgers from restaurants in the past but this was a really juicy burger. The meat actually had flavor. The Irish bacon was a nice touch. We ended up eating only half our orders for lunch and saving the rest for dinner. The food reheated in the oven just fine. Only reason I can’t give a whole 5 stars is because I haven’t been inside.

Great drinks great food and great staff. Always make you feel like family. You can’t go wrong with this place. If it’s not a sport event on the TVs it’s live musicians. Always a good time

From the outside, it looks like the rest of the hole in the wall bars around Maspeth but when you walk in, it is completely renovated, beautiful décor, extremely friendly patrons and bartenders. Haven’t tried the food yet — that will be next on my list!

I absolutely love this bar… I come in about twice a week to eat and have a drink to unwind after work with my hubby. We always have a great time here. The place is cute and very cozy inside. In the evening the bar has a romantic element to it the way the tables are adorned with lit candles. The food is simply delicious… You can’t go wrong with the fried mushroom caps and garlic mayo. It’s absolutely my favorite and I order them every time I come in, with an extra side of garlic mayo of course because one is simply not enough!!! Def a must try for any new comers. I’ve tried almost everything off the menu here and must say the food is always on point, fresh and tastes homemade compared to other bars in the area. The bartenders here are a wonderful bunch!!! They are extremely welcoming, friendly and make you feel at home. This place Reminds me of the «Cheers Bar» I would watch on TV as a kid because everyone knows your name at the Live Oak. Sometimes on the weekends they have live music… It adds a rustic touch and it’s quite the entertainment. Ladies you must have Lorraine behind the bar make you a margarita. …by far one of my favorite drinks here, you won’t be sorry. So glad this bar is walking distance from my home.

Review is based on service and alcohol… Have not tried food.
Service is amazing very concise very friendly.
Wine is pretty good wine selection both red and white
Wish they had different types of wine, like a more seasoned collection or everchanhing wine selection… Too bad it’s always the same…
Spirits and alcohol same as every other Bar in the area, boring but workable.
Rye whiskey and bourbon are hot right now why not add that to your bar…
Great place to watch any game beer selection is good especially having some demographic beer for the neighborhood (polish and Irish) but would like to see some Hispanic beer and I’m not talking about corona…

I love this bar, everything about it is great the food the staff and the bar itself is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is always delish and is not expensive. I have to say I highly recommend this bar.

This review is for brunch. They have the potential to do so much better. There is no other brunch place nearby and the place is small but nice inside. The food just ok. They have a full Irish breakfast but the hash browns were not fully cooked. My husband ordered coffee and was not given any milk. We ordered mimosas and received screwdrivers. If the staff was trained better and they advertised for brunch they would do much better. I really hope they get better. I will be back in a few months and wrote a follow-​up review.

Surprisingly good food for this fun quaint neighborhood bar restaurant. Enough TVs to satisfy anyone.

Good drinks, tons of Tv’s which they will put on whatever you want to watch sports wise, food is good chicken quesadilla is my favorite, hot wings are really done well only thing they don’t have is ranch, other then that place is a nice spot for a laid back sports bar with great service.
